Scott President Bush was called a liar many many times by the Democrats, by the Media, By anyone who didn't want us in Iraq. It was in every newspaper, magazine, and news program you watched and this went on for years and is still going on. Where was the outrage over that?
I would have to stand on your side if it was an argument about respecting our President. He should have the utmost respect. When he earns it. But I think Obama has lost respect. Around the world as well as here at home. That is regrettable.
I don't know if Wilson said "you lie" or "A lie". I was watching, I heard it, but I don't know. I was a little shocked by it but not too surprised.

If you read the bill thoroughly... Are you telling us that you've read this bill thoroughly? Wow, I'm impressed! ************************ Thanks Kevin I did some digging. As far as I can tell There is nothing in this bill that prevents an illegal alien from walking into any emergency room in this country and getting health care the same as you or I. Mothers can still come here illegally and walk into any emergency room and have their baby who becomes a citizen the moment it is born. Then we take care of Momma and baby. So NOTHING has changed. Illegals will still get the same care they have been getting all along. That's a tough one and I don't have much in the way of a solution. Pretty hard to justify turning someone away who needs emergency care (plus the natural born thing is in the constitution). Of course, a lot of people (illegals, poor, no health insurance) use the emergency room for "routine", non-emergency health problems. That's a really big problem, too. Kevin

Kevin Under the Health care reform proposals all American Citizens will be covered. It is not an option. Obama said so in very plain English. Everyone WILL have to purchase Health Insurance. This is suppose to eliminate the poor and uninsured using the emergency room as their family doctor because they will have health care insurance and they will be able to afford a family doctor. Everyone, that is, except illegal aliens. They will still be using the emergency rooms. Unrestricted, no penalties, no problem. Free, paid for by you and me.
I read the Constitution and I did not find any mention of an illegal alien female coming to this country to have her baby so the Baby would be a citizen and we would then have to take care of her and the baby. Show me where that one is please. I find it hard to believe our founding fathers intended for someone to profit by breaking our laws.
And if it is there all it would take is a Constitutional amendment to correct it.
As far as the Constitution goes I think I need to find the article that says the Government has the power to force me to buy Health Insurance.

Kevin I guess thoroughly is the wrong word to use, but the bill is not very hard to understand. I think I might've started to sound, like I want our president to fail. By all means I should correct that because of course I WANT him to succeed. He is the President if he fails, this country fails. But will he succeed is another question. I certainly hope he gets his head on straight soon. I don't like Obama, I didn't vote for Obama, but I do want him to be a good leader. But to do that he's going to have to relearn the difference between good and bad.

Since this thread has morphed into a Health care thread and now toward constitutional questions I figure I'll take it one step further. Here is what the Constitution says about Illegals. Note also that this is an Amendment. It was NOT part of the original constitution. The 14th Amendment defines citizenship this way: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." But even this does not get specific enough. As usual, the Constitution provides the framework for the law, but it is the law that fills in the gaps.
Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in those gaps. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States at birth:"
* Anyone born inside the United States * * Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person's status as a citizen of the tribe * Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S. * Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national * Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year * Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21 * Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time) * A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.
* There is an exception in the law the person must be "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States. This would exempt the child of a diplomat, for example, from this provision. Note the asterisk. Interesting isn't it.It doesn't mention illegal aliens that I can see but it DOES mention an EXAMPLE of an exception. That being the child of a diplomat is not a citizen. Why? Because the Diplomat is not a citizen. So if the child of a diplomat is not a citizen why is the child of an illegal alien a citizen? That is a contradiction. IMHO. Illegal immigrants are also not "subject to the jurisdiction of the United States", IMHO Note this one specifically Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year This says if an illegal immigrant has a child in a US POSSESSION that child will NOT qualify as a US Citizen. Kind of funny that would apply in a place like Guam, the virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, etc. but not the mainland. This IMHO disqualifies any child born of an Illegal alien from citizenship. but INAL. If I was I'd be a congressman.  Note also that this is a LAW not a constitutional item. and can be changed in any bill.
