I spoke with Jerry and he said that James Hawkins will be attending. Also Janette with Bay Area Beat Magazine has posted our next showcase flyer, http://www.bayareabeat.org/plain-folks-sunday-3rd-proud-lion-tampa/ Thank you Janette, I see that there are at this time 29 views on this post, it sure would be nice to have some RSVPs along with those peeks. Horse Feather's,the backing band for the Tampa Bay Chapter of Just Plain Folks songwriters,is back. Due to no response from the e-mails I sent out we are going to play one song from each of the Horse Feather members. This also means that there will be a full back line available. Just supply your own instruments if you want to go electric.

...aaaand now I won't be there. Family vacation. I'm full of excuses, but they're all true. I'm bummed that I won't be there, but it's the only time my family can do this vacation because of schedules.

Way to go Richard, moving an entire family re-union so that you can attend our JPF chapter meeting. Now that's what I call dedication. You Da Man! Al Oh and by the way everyone I just received a reply from an invitation I sent out to Julee Milham / Entertainment Attorney and she has graciously agreed to be our guest speaker on May 3rd. Things are looking good so please pass the word. I have also edited the initial post here on this thread to reflect this new info so you can cut and paste and send out to everyone on your mailing lists who may have an interest. Yeah Richard I was just having fun with you but you are coming and thats whats important. I'm really looking forward to hearing your compositions man, they're like listening to a really good story. Peace, Al Chapter members, It looks like we're shaping up for a good turnout but we still need you all to forward the flyer that Jerry and I sent out to your mailing list and also direct folks to this board. The more we all do to re-egnite the buzz about this message board the more exposure we all help each other with. Please make the small effort that it takes to reach out to your mailing list. I'll be there with a couple sets of the DVDs and CDs recorded at the Whistle Stop in January. I also plan to film this one. If anyone knows how to record directly from the soundboard, that would be awesome. I'll also bring a few sampler CDs of my own stuff. I'm posting a bulletin on MySpace,Twitter, and email to get as many folks to show. Wow, I like this new board. I'd also like to address the possibility of creating a big JPF Tampa banner that everyone can sign and we can use as a backdrop for future showcases.

Alright "Q" is coming out to play and he's bringing some toys. Hey I like the idea of a banner and I like that everyone will sign it also. Maybe we can pass the hat to get things started and take it from there. I hope we can all reach out and bring some guests. I'd really like to see this room full. We need about fifty folks including guests especially since we have a guest speaker. Keep Strummin' Al www.myspace.com/masonalvarez

Hmm... where's that special audio adapter I need for my keyboard? I'm a mess. OK, fine, I'm bringing the Strat, then. That's easy enough. Technological issues will not keep me away.

Hey, it was good to be back at a JPF get together! Sorry we didn't get to stay around to hear everyone, but greatly enjoyed the folks we did hear. These get togethers are certainly a great reminder of the talent we have in this area.
Thanks to Johnny G for being a gracious host and offering the Proud Lion as the meeting place.

It is so nice to come here this morning and see all the positive comments about the chapter meeting and showcase we held yesterday at The Proud Lion. I spoke with Johnny G. after the event and he said he thought it went great and thanked us for coming in and playing all the wonderful music. Just so you know that stage was half the size a week ago, so he is gearing up to accomodate live entertainment. A special thanks to Julee Milham/Entertainment Attorney who spoke on copywrite issues concerning independent artists. Julee was our first guest speaker at our first Tampa Bay Chapter meeting back in January of 2003 and is still out there supporting and helping the music community so please visit her at www.emusiclaw.com We want to acknowledge the folks who played Sunday afternoon, this is directly from the sign up sheet. Stve Vaclavic David Hurd Ms. Goody Horsefeathers - Andy Karpinski, Steve Dockendorf,Dan Copeland and Jerry Jakala. Leigh Humes and Steve Humes Steve Dockendorf Richard Maclamale Al Alvarez w/Steve Humes on lead and Jim Mason on harmonies. Primary Element - Brenda Sanchez and Philip Garnett Horsefeathers Lefty Dave Smith Jim Mason "Q" Janice Bergin And a special thanks to Andy Karpinski who always lends his expertise at the sound board and with any technical issues that arise, thank you Andy. We will be setting the date for next month very soon so please stay tuned to this board for that and much more information concerning fellow JPFers. Peace and as always....Keep Strummin' Al Alvarez Co-Coordinator, Tampa Bay Chapter - Just Plain Folks www.myspace.com/masonalvarezwww.aandrproductions.com
