Brian,
I agree, I think it's a troll we've seen before.
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Hey guys,
Like I said, we get a lot of these in Nashville. They have some very warped ideas and are total fools. But what bothers me is that we always have new people that come to forums like these. I belive that in the future as in now, people learn and further their careers through sites like these. This might be the nucleus that some new singer, band, potential artist, makes the connection with writers, to become the new "Next Big Thing." and that is why we have to protect the dialogue. When newer people (young artists) hear things like that silliness, they get the wrong ideas, and end up wasting time money and effort in the wrong directions. I have had these kinds of people in every workshop I have ever done or attended. I could tell a million crumudgeon stories, but won't here. All we can do is try to counteract nonsense with common sense, and factual information. So when these people open up, it is all our responsibility to respond (politely, of course, at least at first) and then find ways to quietly guide them to other avenues that might fit their views better. All we can do is try. You can lead people to water but can't make them drink.

Troll? What troll? Ha!
If anyone smells the stench of the troll again, let me know.

Colin: Sometimes playing small ball leads to the home run. Take "Wind Beneath My Wings" for instance. That song had been cut a dozen times by indie artists before I think Nancy Griffith cut it and then Bette Midler for the copyright making recording. Rand Bishop songwriter/producer/author Makin' Stuff Up (secrets of song-craft and survival in the music-biz) www.makinstuffup.net Rand, I don't know about "Wind Beneath My Wings", but Nanci Griffith definitely cut "From a Distance" by Julie Gold a few years before The Divine One had a hit with it...Ms. Gold was able to quit her temp job & go full time performing on the strength of it. One of the things I love about Ms. Griffith is her willingness to record & help other writers. Midnite

Hi Folks,
I just got a threatening phone call from the person representing himself as "the troll" I have his cell phone number from Red Wing, MN and also his various IP addresses including the original one. If anyone else gets threatening emails or contacts from this person, please let me know. He said he was going to take things to "another level" which I take as a threat on many levels. I have no tolerance to people making threats against my family, me or this organization. I remained on the phone with him but he either hung up or drop off his cell coverage. Keep me posted if you hear from him again.
I've been dealing with emails about this etc. via my cell phone but I am home from the hospital now and back to dealing with actual email which is much better. Nothing like having pneumonia and having to deal with this nonsense.

Hey Brian,
Unfortunately you can't do anything about the loonies in the world. I'm sure the agro is transient, and will direct itself at the next poor sod who happens to displease "he who knows all".
It's obviously natural, or induced phycosis. We live in a "tell it all world", so it's just a part of society as a whole. Hopefully, it will pass into oblivian.
Worry about getting over the pneumonia, it's much more important.
cheers, niteshift

Brian,
Don't worry. They always go away. The more people talk, the less they have going on.

Glyn once accused me of making a threat, which I did not--nor would I. I don't believe in that sort of garbage...and Glyn and I are now pretty good friends. I get riled at times, but I have no issues with anyone here--you included, Brian. Just so's you know.
