The goal of our "Song Challenges" is to write songs/lyrics on demand within set parameters. We don't critique each other's songs in this thread (but you can say you like someone's song if you want to.) Please post your original works. If you have already written a song/lyric that fits within the parameters, please feel free to post it.

The new challenge is to write a song with "It's only a matter of time … " as the hook. The hook can be in the chorus or as a repeated line in each of the verses. You may also change the tense if you like.

Thanks for the submissions folks. Sorry I haven't been around. Work has been keeping me too busy. As usual, I love seeing the variety people are able to produce.

This isn't exactly terribly well done, or even re-written yet. The thing is though, it's true. A friend of ours has a lung disease that will not get better, It's one of my wife's best friends, and she is one sharp cookie. This was more for my benefit than critique, but feel free...

A Matter of Time

She’s a good Mom
She’s a good wife
With a big heart
And a fine life

But all the best intentions
Care and interventions

Won’t bring time to its knees
Or stem the tide of her disease
But it don’t mean she won’t stop tryin’
Nothing keeps her hope down
Even knowing that it’s over
And it’s all just a matter of time

Now she might try
To change her diet
If it gives hope
She has to try it

And it makes her feel good inside
Knowing she's got love in her life

But it won’t bring time to its knees

Mostly musical as I was inspired to hear this, so please excuse the brief lyrics, (and the "Only"). The two sections would just repeat twice when the singing comes back in, with more and more vocal layering for each of the three times, mainly to drive this song's point that may or not be obvious.
