Hi. Derek. I think somebody did mention it, somewhere. (With all those numbers, it's hard to keep track of stuff.)
Related, but not mentioned, was the Dodson Drifters parody of it, "50 Ways to kill Your Lover," by our bass player, "Big Bob" Provus (with help from the rest of the band). My favorite line: "Lock her in the freezer, Caesar."
Joe
P.S. I sent you a PM.

Thanks, Jack, for putting the list in numerical order. That was hard work, but it sure makes it easier to check.
I'd say I owe you one, but we're not supposed to use one or two here. How about three cheers?
Joe

Ok Beth, that text was big enough for me, I get the message. Now where are the embarrassed smileys? In that case this thread is gonna go on forever. My lucky number - Lene Lovich
Guess which number is her lucky number?? even though her lucky number is the unacceptable number "one", it has the word "number" so it counts. :-) Actually her lucky number is ‘two’ and she says as much in the song, that is the punchline

You're most likely right Nigel. I was trying to remember it in my head without researching and it's been so long since I heard that song. But either one or two, they're still not allowed. Here's another for the list: 2000 Man - Ace Frehley (covering the Stones)

If we are going to allow Beethoven’s 5th, why single out that one of his 9 symphonies? And besides, Haydn will be itching in his grave because he wrote 104 symphonies, poor lad! The correct title of ‘2525’ is ‘In The Year 2525’ Some more years: ’39 - Queen 1977 – The Clash 1984 – David Bowie 1984 – The Eurythmics 1985 – Paul McCartney and Wings

Guys, you're being quiet. There's *lots* more numbers where those came from.

Hi kids,
Sorry for the lapse...(broken bones and all that malarkey) .....I'll try to update the list sometime today...
Keep having fun.
Has anyone said "Three Little Words" -- one of those old Debbie Reynolds,Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire types?
Later... Beth

How about 'Wreck of Number Nine' -- The Stoneman Family
Old bluegrass tune. A little vague, but hey...it's in my iTunes library.

Oh, how could I have forgotten "The Wreck of the Old 97." One of the hokiest (and most anti-feminist) bluegrass songs ever written. I liked to use it as an example when I taught writing seminars.
It's by that old fellow Traditional, but the version I like to perform has an additional verse written by Johnny Cash, and one by me.

HiDee Big Bro Jimmy!
You're probably right about that Phone Number of Martha's...heh! I can NEVER remember Names OR Numbers worth-a-dern.
Ol' Jack's forgotten about 13-15 MORE Song Titles I posted Correctly on my Post...for His Listing..so it's perhaps Contagious Forgetfulness...? (But I AM kinda Proud for having the only Title with the Number "26" in it...& "Door 26" is all about "Dr Seuss"..a Fellow Writer..overcoming CONSIDERABLE Rejection..on his Quest to get Published.) &...I think Randy Travis' "3 Wooden Crosses" and Johnny Cash's "5 Feet High & Risin'" are Classic-Enough they fer-sure belong on Da List~

Stan, this is Beth's deal, I only took the list she had on the original post and put it into order and sent it to her in a PM. I was not going through the posts to update all the entries. I think I found your post you mentioned, and it contains a large list of items, many of which are not songs so she may have excluded those. I am not sure about the rest of it. I did not post the list, so I cannot update it.

My apologies to Jack & Stan:
Yes, Jack was kind enough to take on the monumental task of putting this list into numberical order. I had let the list slide for a few days, but have just now updated it with the songs posted since then.
Have fun!!
Beth
