BENEFIT FOR JULES *SUNDAY* August 24, 2008......Noon - 8 PM.
The benefit for Jules has been extremely well received and will be held at the Ringside Cafe, 2742 4th St. N., St. Pete, Florida. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $2,000 dollars and we need your help in recruiting as many people as possible to attend this event to help us achieve this goal.
Please bring everyone you know and meet between now and then. The success of this event is strictly attendance based and we need many people to attend. Flyers and posters are in the process of being created and will be available so, if you would like some promotional material, please contact Leigh Humes at: (813)629-8388 a.s.a.p.
There will be a min. $10 door donation entrance fee to the benefit, a 50/50 raffle, and we will be accepting all donations to this worthy cause.
We are pleased and amazed to communicate that all entertainment slots were filled the first day of planning this event, with little to no recruiting effort! There are a total of 19 acts performing in 20 minute time slots starting at noon and ending at 8 p.m. Some of those performing are as followed:
Leigh and Steve Humes Kathy Stafford Goody Jak Kelly Stephanie Carpenter Mike Worrall James Hawkins and The Cold Harbor Band Sheila Kirsten Hughes Band Mason/Alvarez Ronny Elliott Roger Sullins Tom Scudiero Sweet Caroline Steve Vaclavik Tommy McCoy Jeff Blake Doc Lovett and The Blues Punks Barkin' Barney Key of Life
Lets all come together for this well needed cause and make it a huge success!

This was put together by Shelly Eckert and Leigh. They worked very hard, and got it together in a couple of days.

Will there be some where to send donations? If at all possible I will attend but I have a critical family situation to deal with and I am not sure if it will be resolved by then or not.

Having a serious disease is bad enough in itself and there is almost always the financial devistation that goes along with it. That being said I can't stress enough the importance of you folks attending this very worth while cause. While we can't do anything for Jules medical situation we can lift his spirits and the spirits of his family by attending this very important benefit. Jules is a brother in need so PLEASE do what you can. Thanks!

I was schedualed to go out of town that weekend but I've rearranged things so I will be there with Jim as "Mason/Alvarez" which now includes the very tasty lead guitar work of Doug Bliss. Keep Strummin' Al www.myspace.com/masonalvarez

Hey everybody!
Just a reminder, I'm still looking for items for the Silent Auction. I want to thank Andy K. who will be donating a Shure SM 80 Condenser Mic and a Rome 31 Band Graphic EQ!
I've sent some emails out today to look into a couple of things and will be hitting some businesses tomorrow. If you can think of anyone who might want to donate an item or items let me know. It does not have to be music related...
That being said, I would like to put together a local CD 'box set' to be auctioned during the Silent Auction....from local folks who have CDs, whether or not you will be performing during the benefit. So if you have a CD (or CDs) and you'd like to donate it (them) to the cause let me know. I think this would be a really cool Silent Auction offering to be able to pick up many local CDs in one offering.
You can PM me here, contact me through MySpace or my email savac@juno.com.
Thanks!!
Steve V

I have this pair of purple pants that I bought due to the neon lighting in the store. I thought they were black or dark blue! Never mind! I will dress like a human!

Hey Everybody, I'm so pleased to have been allowed to play a small part in Jules' benefit on Sunday. Major kudos to Steve & Leigh, Shelley, Andy, Steve V, and everyone else who worked so hard to make it an absolutely perfect event. The turnout was so great, and it was really nice to be able to renew acquaintances with folks who I don't get to see often enough. The vibe in the room was tremendous, the talent was outrageous, and the palpable affection for our friend, Jules, made it a very, very special day. All I can say is "WOW!" Mike Worrall

As Mike said, the day had a really great vibe. It was great to be able to play a small part in a tremendous event.
Thanks again to everyone who donated items to the silent auction and to all who bid.
It was great to see and hear Jules as well!

Even though I was only able to be there for a few hours I had no doubts that the hearts of the Tampa Bay Chapter of Just Plain Folks would win the day for Jules and his family. You all should be very proud! I know I am. The heart of the Tampa Bay Chapter of Just Plain Folks keeps on beating!

Hey all,
I've been out of touch for the past many months. Mainly due to a busy schedule and unavaiability for meetings. Don't think you haven't been missed!
I found out about Jules late in the game, like after the posters were circulating. Anyway, Margi and I were at the benefit for a couple of hours on Sunday. We got to see Jules, make a donation and listen to many of you perform.
I want to say that I'm proud of this JPF group and I'm proud to be a member, (albeit a hit and miss member) of this particular chapter. Hold your heads high folks, you did a wonderful thing.
I also heard several really good performances and was pleased for that opportunity. I missed several too and was sorry for that.
Here's sending the Love and Light of the Universe to Jules and to all you kind and generous Souls.
