And come to think of it, didn't Morrison have a song entitled "The End"?

Happy 1:30 AM Mz Lynn & Thankee for the Live Ones!
LOVED that "Light On" Gem!
Just FOUND a few I'd jotted down & lost...(Song Titles with Headstone Overtones)...here come a few More...heh!
"I Love That Dirty Water"
"Travelin' My Life Away"
"Call Me Mr Blue"
"Get Back (To Where You Belong)"
"(I Think I'm Goin') Outta My Head"
"Yes, I'm The Great Pretender"
(Said Stan, startin' to doze off again...)
Dunno just HOW this'd make a good Book....but might be fun tryin'!
Here's an Actual Epitaph, scratched into the stone of a Coal Baron's Mausoleum by some folks who worked for him:
"He Cheated The Poor, He Robbed The Rich He's Gone to Hell, The Son of a Bitch~"
Waal, I gotta thank You & Joe & head off to the Great Beyond...for a Short Spell..hopefully!
Big Hugs, Stan

"You Really Got Me Now" JUST came to mind as my Head's Juke Box switched from The Zombies to The Kinks.
Such Sick Puppies we are...but Dayum, this is continuous Fun!
Time for bed...here's a "stretch"...remember this ol' baby:
"My Boomerang Won't Come Back"...
Thanks & a Big Nitey-Night Guy-Hug, Stan

How about " all dressed up and no place to go"?
Yes, Stan, I think there's a book. And we'd probably spend days, ifnot weeks, thinking up possibilities for the title.

I suppose "How's the weather?" has been overdone.
Wasn't it George Jones who sang "How's your new love?"
And who could forget Willie Nelson? "Hello, walls.."

Hi, Beth.
"We were out for a ride in my daddy's car..." I forget what the song's title was, but the first line of the chorus was "Oh where, oh where can my baby be?"
Anyone mentioned "On the road again"? The list is getting a tad long.
And an oldie. Not the title, of course: "He was her man--but he done her wrong."
And John Prine, of course: "Please don't bury me..."
I'll go back to work now, too.

G'Mornin' Mz Lynn...Start the day off with a Good'n'...YAYYYY!
I woke up with a Song playing in my mind I know I haven't heard in over 50-some-years (So I prolly got the Hook wrong):
"Don't Let The Stars Get in Your Eyes (Don't Let The Moon Take Your Heart)" {I'm not REAL sure about "take" there..."chase" maybe?)
I've noticed lately the Funeral Arrangers have come up with these Etched-in-Granite PORTRAITS of the Recently-Departed on their stones...& reflected on how FUN it'd be to have one's Tongue-Sticking-Out..or a "Bird" Offered..in-near-Perpetuity on one's Headstone. (ANYTHING to break up the Solumn-ness of da Place would be a "Plus" IMHO.)
Lessee..other Songs that come to mind:
"I Can See For Miles (& Miles...& Miles...)"
"Tell Laura I Loved Her" (Boy was that ever a Smarmy One...)
"Go Granny Go Granny Go Granny Go!" (From "Little Ol' Lady from Pasadena"..wotta FUN Tag Line!)
&..Parting Wisdom Dep't:
"Inhale..Exhale..(Repeat Until Tired)"
Gotta Scoot..Happy 5th of July!

"Give Me 3 Steps?"
"The Cat's in The Cradle"
"It's Too Late, Baby"
"I Feel The Earth Move (Under My Feet!)"
LA Femme says "It's Suppertime"...so I gotta Go...but feel free to Resurrect This Ancient Thread, when The Spirit Moves Yas~!

And who could forget the Everly Brothers. (I know--I could. I did until Derek mentioned them today.) "Bye bye, love..."
And I suppose since we're on the subject of "why?" (hi, Beth), has anyone mentioned "Why, tell me why, don't you treat me right?"

"Dey Do Run Run"
"Hot Diggity-Dog Diggity Do (What'd Ya Do T'Me?)"

There's Henny Youngman's famous line, too: "Take my wife. Please." (In fact, he may have had that actually put on his gravestone.)
And you mdentioned "That's all, folks!" Right? (Mel Blanc may have had that put on his gravestone, too. Probably better than "What's up, doc?")

G'Mornin' BroJoe!
Yeah, it'd be REAL Interesting to see what Henny DID put on his stone...he was SUCH a Master of the One-Liners! Wonder if Rodney Dangerfield's'll read "Respect..AT LAST!"
Mel's DOES have that Inscription mentioned in the Lyric..along with a Star of David on top...(I was hesitant to ask him about Judaism back when I knew him...& that answered THAT Question for me!) (I gotta call up his son, Noel, this week..to ask if Mel..or he..were/are "Lefties"...& some Details on the Peter Heinlen Clock/Watch they own..for a song about the world's First "Spring-Driven Timepiece" that Mel once bought for $300 of a Beverly Hills Jeweler.) (It's the only-known Heinlen Timepiece, dates around 1500..Nurenberg, Germany.)
Couple Other 'Taphs that come to mind this AM:
"I Shall Return"...(Gen Mac Arthur oughta have that one?) "To Die, To Sleep..No More"...(A line about Death, penned by Will Shakespeare) "Wake Me When It's Over"...(Me!)
Back to da Real World of Bills & Clock Repairs!
Thankee, Amigo! Big Guy-Hug, Stan
