Drummers! Do you have independant limbs. Can you do one thing with your hand and another with your foot?
Try this test:
Sitting at your computer, draw a clockwise circle in the air with your right foot. Now, see if you can draw a number "6" in the air with your right hand without changing your foot's direction to counter clockwise.
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Wow, that's hard even if you're not a drummer LOL

That had to be thought up by some very evil person or someone using mind altering substances.
It will keep me up all night trying to do it.

what if you're left-handed? I'm not a drummer, and I still tried it. I can surely make the number 6 okay, but my foot doesn't do a circle - it seems to be doing a number 9. Does that mean something?

Have had good coordination since taking accordion when 7 to 10. Had to tap my foot to the clicker, while playing buttons with my left hand while squeezing the thing left and right, while playing up and down on keys with my right hand. (Say that three times fast!). NO,,,not that that that!).
Yeah,,,no problem with two things being independent, (your test). But it did take the second try. You want something hard?
I did get crossed up when also trying to do a backwards R with my left hand, and drawing an S with my left foot, while doing your test. THAT one is hard, and maybe should also be one of The Amazing Randy's million dollar offer! I'll get it,(maybe),,,but I may be cramped trying it for an hour straight! THANKS!!! And, if my wife walks up here and sees me in action,,,,,how do I explain that one?!
I play drums too, (since 12), and am athletic, so I admit besides the accordion skills I once had down, I had a head start.
BUT, I still have a problem tapping my stomach and rubbing my head!,,,,,,,,,OH yeah!,,,,it's the other way around, huh?,,,No wonder!
Our drummer, Marnie, talks about independence often, and does drills he makes up just to get better at it. I can't do what he does yet.,,,, Frustrates me!

it seems to be doing a number 9. Does that mean something? You have The White Album on the foot!

It's not 96 its 69 and I don't get that either. It is just like patting your head and rubbing your tummy at the same time. It is all to do with brain functions. There are a number of similar excersises that most folk cannot do or find difficult.
