I'd only met Hal a couple of times, once at a JPF song circle you hosted and then a couple of months ago when he was back in the area. He gave me a good, constructive critique. I've heard some of his songs too; he was a darn good musician.
It was sad to hear of his passing, especially given his age and how out of the blue it was (at least to me).
