Disgusted by music nowadays? Well, recently, I recommended to myself that I take a listen to this artist Mark Kaufman. At first, I thought, “Oh great! This is probably just another voice in my head trying to sell me to myself.” But after listening to a couple of tracks, it really changed my mind. This guy really relates to me! More than any other artist! Whether you like his music or not. Wow! Anyway, just thought I'd street team myself.

Mark, Hey man, you submitted a song to me, 'Butterfly'. Rather than send back by email I thought i'd send my reply here since your post of shameless self-promotion made me smile. Hey, if you're gonna be shameless, then be SHAMELESS, right?! Your song is very cool. You're a producer type. I like your arrangement and your sonic ideas. Are you the singer? This is an artist thing more than a Nashville pitch thing, but it sounds really cool. Your acoustics are a bit muddy and your drums are too far back. Recording wise it's just to thumpy and soft...you need to get some good demos going. You're far enough along with writing and performing and your strong on melody, hook concept, all that stuff. Make your stuff sound good, man. It should sound better. The music's so cool...don't let demo quality be the thing that sets you back. No, this isn't so you'll call me and I can record your demos, I promise. This is because you sent me something I liked. br www.writethismusic.com

He's pretty good people, don't you think? So I've changed my mind and do believe we should all street team for him! Thanks Bill, -Lyle

Hey Mark...I even talked with Bill via phone about somethings I needed help with and at midnight his time he took a 1/2 hour to explain some of the biz to me...he is a regular guy and someone I would trust...he has an outstanding format to critique songs and takes most of the mystry out of why your song is not up to Nashville standards but doesn't slam you between the eyes...

Yes, Ted, and he writes some very thought-provoking and informative posts. If I were demoing or recording in Nashville he'd be the one I looked up, just based on being a decent, intelligent person. -Street Teamer

Well, since you started it, I can say that BR is the most helpful insightful dude I've run across out here in cyberspace. He'll make you think and tell it to you straight. I could go on but I'll wait for now

YUK---I think that Mark Kaufman just panders to himself and live off in Markieville...I can't believe you think that Mark didn't believe that Mark was good, but then Mark convinced himself he was...

This shameless self promotion disgusts me. You other posters should be ashamed of playing along with this bozo. Now he has you eating this @$#% out of his hand. I've listened long enough to his "oh, so sweet" melodies. And his shameless trading on the legacy of a great country artist. I'll never eat another meal in your restaurant. If you really want to make some money selling your self get some tight pants and get out on the street!

I have tuned myself out of contemporary music the last few years. Nothing grabs me with it. The ones I really like that tend to stick in my mind seem to surface more the more I tune out. I heard a band on Jimmy Kimmel Thursday night called Coldplay, playing their big hit. Did'nt even know who it was or remember the name of the song. I just know I loved it upon hearing it on the radio the few times I have listened, and intend on buying the cd. I'm not a fan and I don't streat team. But I felt the need to say that.

My oh my Mark Another shameless promotion? Have you no pride! I just think (get ready for subliminal message) that you really ought to try something else (Derek Hines's music is awesome!). This promotion is (If Derek Hines had an album I'd buy it) very self serving and I don't think people appreciate (Go listen to Derek Hines right now on sound click) this tactic! Shameless endorsement (His song "Pushing back the hands of fate" takes you right back to the radical 60's) of yourself is not fooling anyone. Maybe you should try some real (You know you want to go listen right now to Derek Hines) advertising something you actually have to ("I mean this guys singing and playing are right off the charts" (Rolling stoned magazine says of Derek Hines) pay for. I mean really you must have some (Warning not listening to Derek Hines's music will make you sterile) resources you can pull from. Maybe we can all pass the (Derek Hines legend in his own mind! new cd being released when pigs fly) hat and save you from this sad flaunting of yourself(it's right down there just click the link (you know you want to!). (end of subliminal messages) Thanks Mark this was fun Derek

A sense of humor opens many doors. However, your music does suck. Hehehe...but seriously folks, you have some great material. Thanks for the smiles, long hair and good tunes.

I keep forgetting this is here! My joke turned real...yikes. Thanks for looking at all my poorly recorded stuff! I had hair like that for about two years, back in 1989-91. Now I look pretty normal. But y'all know otherwise.

Hey Jack!
I know Ukiah! I used to live in Rohnert Park Santa Rosa area. I've also live in Windsor which is a little further north from Santa Rosa (but still south of Ukiah. When I was a truck driver I used to make deliveries in Ukiah. Though I'd come across from I5 not north on 101. I loved the grasslands of Ukiah very pretty and down home feeling. I've also lived in Eureka, Oakland, Sanfrancisco, Woodland (just north west of Sacramento) and Sacramento. I'm a native Oregonian but I've spent most of my life so far as a Californian. Derek

Thanks, Henry, nice to meet you. Welcome to JPF! This whole silly thread was a response to a "Street Teamer" who posted the identical words that day...I just riffed on it for comedy's sake. To my surprise, it actually worked! ...much better than for the other dude, probably. Street Teamers are people who join only for the purpose of pretending they want to tell us about a fabulous musical act that we really owe it to ourselves to check out. They do their shameless plug and never post again...

Hey Mark "They do their shameless plug and never post again..."
So how come you are still posting. See, after I do my shameless plug, I won't abandon you. I'll just keep plugging and plugging... By the way, that Big Jim does have great pipes. And he IS going places, too. Why, just the other day, he went to the loo...
