A very simple definition of success is simply deciding to do something, and then going ahead and doing it.

Stepping up to the plate in a Major League venue and just taking your swings. (for bass2x). Congrats James!

Hey, thanks John.
For me it was intimidating, and having passed the trial by fire, am now equal parts relieved and proud. But not you - you were a real pro, man. Just walked up center stage, like you've been there all your life, sat down, waited for our cue, and proceeded to rip up all the tunes!

Hey, that's my musical brother out there, y'all!

Success is knowing where you've been, being where you are and believing in where you are going.

If you work at what excites you it won't be a chore.

Success is meaningful spelled backwards or forwards...
Of course, it doesn't make any sense backwards, but hey! they play records backwards, right?

Thanks back at ya!
And, funny you said, "like you've been there all your life,,,etc.

Funny, because in a strong way, it feels like I have been "there" all my life. Must be how farmers feel when they walk onto a bigger farm to do some work. It just felt the same as when people are there at clubs we play in. Just a lot more professional, a lot nicer, a lot bigger, and more sounds going on. Cooler too, for who the acts were to follow us. GREAT artists, huh?

Remember too, I started playing in front of people in the second grade, (all teachers and all grades in that school, up to fourth grade,,(the BIG kids!). And for all the grades after, that involved music/talent shows, or just to be always playing something in music classes. Then on to high school, were I was in bands at all the dances throughout, lowly freshman on. And they were our real judgmental piers, at that age! 14 through 18.

It just all felt comfortable. (except lugging my heavy keyboard bag around the half mile track to get back stage!) Man!!! And I didn't even need it!!! The stage manager and I had a good laugh about that, seeing I was about to go into full leg and back cramp arrest! Maybe that, and then hearing you tell of those players you had to play WITH, helped me focus not on the job at hand, which I already KNEW my parts in my sleep, like you, I'm sure.

For whatever reason, come show time, You and I were calmly excited I guess. And for success?, as this thread is for,,,,We went out there and with passion, PLAYED MUSIC. By that alone, we were successful!

Bring on all those venues!!! Love it!

Can't wait for 2LT's concert in that town's version of The Kimmel!:) It's all the same in a way really, just different specifics.

John

The Mortgage paid off. A new Corvette in the driveway. A month or two each year laying on the beach in Tahiti. Might as well throw in new Harley for good measure. A nice Boat would be nice.

Hearing three or four of my songs in rotation on all the Clear Channel stations.

What the heck....somebody had to say it.

success is used as bait by the parasites that pimp the truly talented, UNLESS the talented KEEP their own definition of success and hold it in perfect focus and never compromise the integrity of THEIR goals... I say, if it IS what you want then go for it, but realize that life is a trade off and you will allways sacrafice ONE thing to try to attain ANOTHER, so make sure what you are going after is worth what you are throwing away.. success is getting what you want without losing other things that you want to keep. your integrity, your humility, your health, your family, your freinds, whatever!

Surely it's being in one loving relationship, for forty years.
And still have lots in common, with the person you love.
Success is also knowing when we are wrong, and doing something about it.

Lamorna,

P.s
Success comes to those who dont realy want it, or dont constantly drip on about it.
All success has to be worked for, no one is gifted in every area

Success is realising our limitations.and concentrating on what we are good at

Writing Great songs are a gift,

Getting those songs to the right ears is the hardest part.
