Hello,
I've got a one and only song that has done well everywhere I've posted it. On craigslist writers' forum the lyrics were well received...it went to #3 at betarecords.com....it went to #1 at soundclick.com...I've gotten good response here at the mp3 forum.
I'd like to pitch it to the powers that be at Warner Bros. to be considered for inclusion in the soundtrack for the Jetsons movie that they are talking about doing but I don't know where or to whom I can send it to. I've tried the Warner Bros. website but there doesn't seem to be a way of contacting anyone on the subject. I can't get any contact info for the screenwriter, Adam F. Goldberg.
I'm totally new at this and feel I'm way over my head but I gotta try to get it reviewed. What do you suggest I do?
Thanks, Herb Here's the soundclick link:http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=4920355&q=hi

You might start your search with www.filmscoremonthly or www.filmmusicsociety.orgYou're going up against people who do a lot of film composing, people they already know. I'd also contact your Performance Rights Organization, SESAC, BMI, or ASCAP. If one of their representatives really likes your song, they might help get it to the powers at Warners. It's not impossible. A friend of mine, Ferrel Stowe, recorded a cd of instrumental dobro music that got some radio play on XM. Film star, Rob Schneider heard one of Ferrel's songs on XM, pulled off the road and wrote down his name. Ferrel then got a call "out of the blue." They used three of his songs and flew him to Hollywood to record more music for the film "Big Stan," which will be out this winter. So keep at it. Don't stop with one song, get a pile of great songs. You might pitch that song to Warner's only to have someone call you and say they're not interested in that one, but would like to hear some of your other songs for future projects. It's always good to be ready for opportunity to come knocking. All the Best, Mike
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

The previous advice is sound, I would add a couple of things... The unfortunate reality in Hollywood is, the screenwriter is nobody unless he is also the producer. Other resources you can use are The Hollywood Reporter & Variety. Find out who the producers are. If the producer wants the song it will be in. Be aware that even movie producers can (and do) get fired, so even if you get thru to somebody, and they like it, they could be gone tomorrow, so you'll have to stay on top of things and you won't be able to relax until you see it on screen or get a copy of the soundtrack in your hands.

I guess the film is in pre-production, so I'd try to find out who has been appointed as the sound desingner, and also the music supervisor. It's way easier to contact someone that has a specified interest in your work, rather than executive producers, who to be honest, couldn't give a hoot. It's a big hill to climb, but not impossible. Good luck with it.
cheers, niteshift

It's interesting that there are 3 replies with 3 different angles of advice, each with pluses and minuses... Mr. Niteshift presumed that the movie is in pre-production, which is not really a safe presumption, but also no more dangerous than my own presumption that the movie is not yet in pre-production. The point is the first step is to find out what stage of production the movie is actually in, then you can find out what personnel are on board and target them. You mention that they are "talking about" making this movie. There are a lot of movies that get talked about, but never made (altho if I were going to bet on anything it would be a classic TV show...). The other point I think can be gathered from these diverse replies is to target anybody who can reasonably be expected to be able to help you if they choose to do so... Good luck in all your ventures...

Good advice. In other words, you don't go bird hunting with one bullet.
