A Perfect Girl, A Perfect Tune ©2007 Todd Leiter-Weintraub
1. I forgot to close the blinds the night before And I know that my window faces east The light came pouring through in the morning It burned my eyes in slashing, white-hot streaks
(Pre-chorus) So I groped around my room to find the dresser To prepare myself for the day ahead
(Chorus) And I never could have known what was coming A perfect girl humming a perfect tune I got scared at what I felt and started running Away and into the arms of you
2. I forgot to close the blinds sort of on purpose Because I didn’t really want to have to see I thought that I could hide just like a child – What I can’t see I know cannot see me
(Pre-chorus) So I groped around my bed to find the blankets To cower in the comfort of my room
(Chorus) And I never could have known what was coming A perfect girl humming a perfect tune I got scared at what I felt and started running Away and into the arms of you
(SOLO)
(Pre-chorus) And I groped around my life to find some answers I was not prepared for what happened next
(Chorus) I never could have known what was coming A perfect girl humming a perfect tune I got scared at what I felt and started running Away and into the arms of you
*********************
Of course, the lyrics in red are the ones that I feel I am having trouble with. Do they strike you as awkward as well? Any ideas for a fix for those? Thanks!

Hi Todd!
Nice format, easy read. Meters nicely. But I'm not sure I understand what this is all about. Is this about a potential fling in the making?
The songs begins and ends in bed and never gets out. You allude to "what's coming," but never describe it.
Color me dense, but I'm having trouble figuring out where it's all going. Still don't get the significance of the "perfect girl, perfect tune" thing.

Is this about a potential fling in the making? I think you did get it. A potential fling with (or meeting) somebody that just blindsided me -- the girl that I never knew that I always wanted. My wife, in particular. And thanks for getting that out of me because I think I might have to stick that line in there now: The girl that I never knew that I always wanted (©2007 Todd Leiter-Weintraub ) Any suggestions now for those particular lines? Wish that I had an mp3 to post...

I think ya need to be a little more obvious with it. Perhaps allude upfront to discovering something that was there all along and you never knew it. Maybe that last verse & chorus could be used to reveal it in more obvious terms?
Eh? ;-)

Maybe that last verse & chorus could be used to reveal it in more obvious terms? I think that you're right, but I always seem to have an aversion (both writing and listening) to songs that state a BLATANT, patently obvious message. I always like songs that leave room for some interpretation. I guess that's why I hate a lot of "message" songs. So, while I think that you do have a point about making the message more obvious, I do think that I am going to tread lightly upon that ground. Thanks, Tim!

Cool! It's just MHO anyway! I know what you're saying....perhaps find some middle ground or something.
Good start!

Hey Todd!
Nice read, but I found it difficult to figure the story out. Is the girl there or is he missing her?

here is my 2 cents ; ) when i read this i think that he sees a girl hes interested in out the window but dont want to get with her because he still loves the girl whose arms he wants to run into ..it makes sense but i just wanted to say how i interpret it ..
got scared at what I felt and started running Away and into the arms of you
and here..
forgot to close the blinds sort of on purpose Because I didn’t really want to have to see I thought that I could hide just like a child – What I can’t see I know cannot see me
(Pre-chorus) So I groped around my bed to find the blankets To cower in the comfort of my room
..I interpret that he is scared..like he is literally afraid of her like she will hurt him(the girl outside) ..and i dont really understand why you would leave the blinds open on purppose if you didnt want to see what was out there..that is confusing me a bit ..there you have it !

i dont really understand why you would leave the blinds open on purppose Haven't you ever done anything "accidentally on-purpose"? Kinda like that is what I was getting at. Thanks for your thoughts, Heather.
