Hi Everyone, I'm company managing The Cape Cod Theatre Project again this year. Just thought you guys might be interested in seeing what new American Theatre we're developing this year. We present 4 staged readings of new plays, one a week, throgh the month of July in Falmouth, MA. The playwright, director and actors work together to fine tune a new play, presenting 3 readings of it with audience feedback to the artists at the end of the night. After each performance, the playwright rewrites portions for the next night. It's a facinating process to watch and we've had some of the most incredible people in to work: Bill Pullman, Anna Paquin, Lois Smith, director Gordon Edelstein, director Marshall W. Mason, Pulitzer prize winner Jimmy Breslin..... anyway, you get the point, we're for real. So, if anyone's interested, here's what we're developing this summer. When the readings are cast, I'll update the post. Go to the site for tix or more info ( www.capecodtheatreproject.org) CCTP 2007 Season: July 7, 8, 9 OUT OF THE WATER by Brooke Berman, directed by Trip Cullman A funny, bittersweet play about the unbreakable ties of family. Polly and Graham meet by chance at a funeral, only to discover theyíre actually estranged ex-step siblings. Fueled by forgotten desire, the two adults forge a whirlwind affair that redefines the meaning of love and fidelity. July 12, 13, 14 BACK BACK BACK by Itamar Moses (author of Bach at Leipzig), directed by Pam MacKinnon Back Back Back is a rollicking saga of two of America's greatest pastimes: baseball...and running from the past. Mark, Jose, and Walt are back to back to back major league rookies of the year, with all the potential in the world. But the course of their baseball careers couldn't be more different. Does greatness always come with a price? Do nice guys really end up in seventh place? Can only someone with nothing to lose tell the whole truth? July 19, 20, 21 A WAKE ON CHAPPAQUIDDICK by Jessica Provenz, directed by Kyle Donnelly A haunting trio of stories, woven together by shared tragedy. On the secluded island of Chappaquiddick, a political catastrophe sends ripples through the lives of the townspeople, whose own personal disasters unfold in a series of scintillating vignettes. July 26, 27, 28 TONGUES WILL WAG by Mike Daisey, directed by Jean-Michele Gregory Mike Daisey returns to CCTP with this two-headed tale of love and loss. With wit and pathos, Daisey juxtaposes the tragedy of a young couple undergoing an unwanted pregnancy with the unlikely story of raising a puppy to adulthood. Peace, Christine
