because we all want to know how to write a big hit song. http://recordingforums.com/artist-pages-2/old-dans-music/three-chords-and-a-chorus/Three Chords and a Chorus by Dan Monk If you want to try and write a big hit song you can't make it over three minutes long. Get them to hum to the melody with a hook they'll be singing eternally. Three chords and a chorus is all you really need three chords and a chorus yessiree gotta get to the hook in thirty seconds or less if you want the man to be impressed. If the vocals are clear and the chorus takes off they won't be able to get enough Three chords and a chorus is all you really need three chords and a chorus yessiree You can write sweet songs of love explore the human tragedy. but if you break the rules you'll never be on MTV Three chords and a chorus is all you really need three chords and a chorus yessiree These aren't all the rules to a big hit song, I think they make em up as you go along. Ya gotta play their game and jump thru their hoops if you wanna be a star and that's no poop. three chords and a chorus are all you really need three chords and a chorus will make the young girls scream three chords and a chorus yessiree

"You can write sweet songs of love explore the human tragedy. but if you break the rules you'll never be on MTV" Now ain't that the truth! Enjoyed it very much - great sound too, especially on the vocal. Dan

Dan, You had me smiling throughout the whole tune. One of those songs that you wonder why no one wrote it long ago. Very instructive as well . What a fun tune! Clint

Hi Dan..
Fun song. The melody and sound brought me back to "Where the Action Is". Don't know why, but it did. Must have been hidden memories about Paul Revere and the Raiders.
"Thanks for the memories"

Thanks Dan, Clint and Rick. It was fun to do and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Now if you only follow all the rules in the song you will never have a hit either. Thanks again

Dan...
Like your song! Sometimes, all it takes is 3 chords and a chorus. A lot of money has been made with that theory! Best to ya!
