Hi Everyone,

The new board is up and I am already trying to learn all the different features it has. There's a lot more we can do with it than you see now. We're learning as we go. Please read the FAQ and try and work with us so we can all learn together.

Brian,

Looks good so far. Will have to play around with some of the new stuff. Access to the forums and activities is a little easier and more efficient now. Nice job!

Interesting...I tried to get on yesterday and got the "updating the board" message. I had no idea it was going to get such an overhaul. I figured it was going to be a bug-fix update or something...

New board looks nice! It's pretty easy to use.

One thing is I guess my old signature was too long, so I edited it.... and now the old signature AND the new signature display on all my old posts. I think that could use up a lot of unecessary space (besides boring folks with details). Perhaps that's something to report to the board programmer folks. On 'proboards', when you update your signature, it automatically replaces the signature you had before, on all your existing posts.

Looking good! That "shout" thing could be addictive!!

A couple big improvements:

1. You can edit the subject of your post if you screw it up.

2. You can change your user name with Moderator (i.e. me) approval.

These are two impossible things, even for moderators, to change before.

Okay.. I just changed the settings so that you can edit your posts for about 30 years.. after that.. they're stuck the way they are.

I am testing out the Sticky function with this post. Please give us any feedback you have or problems you find on the board. Most of the issues we've solved via education, a couple by changing settings and some are just the way things are.

So let us know!

Hi Folks,

Okay, I emailed the folks at the UBB Threads that the old links to old pages are not working. They are supposed to forward you to the new version of those same pages. I will let you know when I find out what happens.

Hi Brian, Mike & gang

There are some bells and whistles here if you like and the main functions and options are excellent! The preview feature of each post works GREAT you can make corrections and edits easily. The pictures are a very very nice touch as is the hop to forums.

Way better control over your personal options is fantastic.

I was concerned the boards would make to drastic a change and lose it's warmth and vibe. It hasn't it is TOTALLY the perfect dose and balance between modern tech & personnal warmth.

GREAT choices & great job.. Thank You very much!

Peace

hey Brian,

Great job, "feels" right, and the features especially enhance the communication process.

I ESPECIAALY like the private message section, can now REALLY collaborate, and know the messages will get through rather than being lost in cyberspace.......oh, and I got my username back, although with a grand total of 2 posts ! Will have to contribute all over.

cheers, niteshift

Good that you maintained the colours and the logo.

I wonder if folks are aware that if they put their birthday in their profile, their age shows up on the calendar too? Not that it would bother me grin

I think you can not give the year but just the date.

How can you do that it? It has a drop down menu selection. the menu selection would have to have a 0000 as a choice.

I think you just don't choose anything. Once you DO chose I think you can't unchoose something though.

Congratulations Brian:

The new "interface" for the "board" looks good. It will take me awhile to get the feel of things but I like it. The only "downer" I have experienced is that it is an extremely slow-loader because of the dial-up service and all the graphics.

All my best,

I have dial up service and it is loading up pretty good.
So I'm not having the same issue.

I'm not sure, was the old board smart enough to know what I participated in and highlighted? If so, I'm not getting that now.

If never done-maybe for version x?

I also discovered that if you float over the chat room entries, it displays the time someone was there. That is a nice feature. Discovered that after I posted.

Being in IT, cudos to your development team.

I like it, I like it....and I can DO it...non techies are always apprehensive about changing the status quo when we get used to something. This is just a nice improvement Brian, love the pix, the shout thing is cool...nice mix of the old and the new.

I think I like it just fine. The Dialup Demons, on the other hand, do not like it one little bit, probably because it's so much busier, and make the computer freeze up annoyingly constantly. I can't have it for my home page any longer, for isntance--I have an error message instead saying the page can't be loaded.

I will figure out ways to deal with it, but it may take me a little time. (No doubt I will learn a whole lot of new words that can't be used in public, too.)

You need to have the home page go to our home page.. or redo it to the new page here. Some of the old links won't work, especially if you're trying to link directly, for example, to the lyric boards.

And the new posts are highlighed, just not with a light bulb like the old board. Now it's a yellow folder.

It's not the links thing, Brian--I already figured that out. The new format is just too busy for my browser--I get lots and lots (and lots and lots) of freeze-ups. Like I said, I'll deal with it--I realize it's a big improvement for everybody.

I have an older mac I like to use for my general use/internet. I'm doing much better than I thought I would with the new boards...although I'm on DSL not dialup so I'm sure that helps.

The only thing that seems to be too much for me is the shout box. Can't seem to get that to work, but whatever.

I have a newer PC that I really should use to surf, but old habits die hard and I'm strangely fond of my old workhorse G3.

I placed an anouncement of the Buffalo-Niagara chapter meeting on the Calander on Jan 3rd. I submitted it recurring monthly but it posted on the wrong day of the week in the following months. I tried to modify it and ended up with a double post. I then tried to delete one but did not have permission.

It looks like a handy tool when we figure it out.

Hi Michael,

I don't know why you wouldn't have the ability to do whatever since you're a moderator. I haven't had a chance to really spend any time with the calendar and I don't have any info that isn't available to everyone. Anyone here have an idea of what do to do fix the problem?

I am having trouble finding the hot spot to click to open a subject.
Had to wander the mouse around unil th pointing finger showed to the right of the title in this case, to open this one so i could comment.
Happened a couple of times yesterday too.
Any thoughts?
Is it only me?
