Hi Folks,
We are starting to plan our dates for the 2005 Just Plain Folks Roadtrips. Before we add cities, we need to know there are enough local/area members to justify setting up a local showcase and/or meeting. To justify a showcase, we generally require at least 20 interested artists to perform. (Our Roadtrip shows usually average 30-40 performers per show in most cities). To justify a meeting or Roadtrip stop of any kind, we need no less than 10 members interested, which is also the minimum number to have a local chapter. If you'd like us to stop in this area in 2005, please post a note here and let us know. If there's enough interest indicated, we will add a stop. We will be filming a documentary this year on the road and will include a few interviews of local artists as we tour, so if you want us to include your music scene, now is the time to say hi and speak up!

Hi Brian, I would love to see a local chapter here in Louisville. I'll see if I can stir up some interest. A couple of weekly publications here have a free classified called "Gig Bag" for musicians and so forth.
Any ideas how I can help ? I know a few people in town who may be of help getting the word out.

Tony,
The first thing to do is to find a responsible/motivated coordinator. Someone who can communicate well and quickly responds to emails and helps us get info up about Louisville on this message board. Once we have that to count on, we can move forward to get the word out more effectively and we can also spark some interest from local bands/musicians on the upcoming Roadtrip.

I'd also love to see Louisville be a road trip stop. I'm pretty sure I can rustle up enough people to create a chapter here in Louisville too. As I emailed Brian, I'm interested in becoming the chapter coordinator as well. ------------------ Melissa Sol 17 emotionally charged classic alternative rock www.sol17.net info@sol17.net[This message has been edited by sol17 (edited 02-04-2005).]

I would love to see a stop here in Louisville. I'm definitely interested and more than happy to help out in any way possible to get the Louisville chapter going strong.
Timeframe-wise, when are you all looking to book the Roadtrip stops?

I've told a lot of people and have asked them to check out the site... I think sometimes it takes people here a little longer to do things. ------------------ Melissa Sol 17 emotionally charged classic alternative rock www.sol17.net info@sol17.net

We're one of the bands Melissa/Sol 17 directed to Just Plain Folks. Your website and information looks great. Olive Trees Music is very interested in performing in your 2005 Road Trip, we've joined your mailing list and will continue spreading the good word about JPF around Louisville metro.

Hey Folks,
Here's the KY folks who entered the awards and are still active members. We don't know WHERE in KY they live, but I wondered if you knew any of them? I have email contacts and if we can get at least 1 of these KY chapters active, we'll contact them all and ask them to join as well:

I see some familiar names on the list. Some are here in Louisville, and some are in the Lexington area. I've spread some fliers around, handed a few out, and posted some on various bulletin boards. I included the site url, and invited folks to register and introduce themselves on this board. I'll run over to an open mic at a neighborhood tavern after I post this....it runs till 1 am and there should be a few folks there. I'll hit all the open mics and jams here in town tomorrow and hand out fliers. Where are you folks ? We need members who want to attend meetings and network, as well as showcase. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Don't be shy, speak up and introduce yourselves ! Tony

They say Louisville is the up and coming 'New Seattle' - so much talent here! I think it'd be incredible to get a stop here - I'm sure as the word gets out that you'd have more than enough interest. The LEO would be the best place to get the word out - both the LEO and the Louisville Music News have free ad placement for this type of thing and local musicians live on those two sites as well as Louisville MOJO. I'm in...someone let me know how I can help! ------------------ Jorena The Funk Junkies Blues/R&B, Rock - Variety http://www.thefunkybluesters.com thefunkjunkies@yahoo.com[This message has been edited by Mama Love (edited 04-27-2005).]

hi Jorena, welcome to the site ! Brian Austin Whitney is the man making all this happen, and it is the best networking site on the web imo. Check out the entire site...much more here other than the these great forums ! (BTW, Singer magazine has an article on JPF in the April '05 issue)
You mentioned Mojo and LMN....I've posted ads on their sites...(Wes found us via the Mojo site)
As far as helping out, if you recognize any of the names on the list Brian posted above, give 'em a buzz and let 'em know about the chapter forming. And of course, any other folks you know who may want to be a part of this are welcome.
I'm new to the biz, and have been writing lyrics for less than a year, so I'm really excited about networking and hopefully finding collaborators here locally.(alt country/folkie )
I see your bio (on your site) mentioned you write. Feel free to share one of your lyrics on the lyrics forum if you like.
Looking forward to meeting you, Tony
