MY DISTANT DREAMS Copyright Joe Calitri
She glides through the doorway The dimly lit room turns bright Walking up to the stage She’s going to play her music tonight Putting down my cold glass I Stop looking at an empty chair I turn around, and I watch The lady throw back her hair She appeared like a distant dream I felt the excitement start That sweet lady’s music Was captivating my heart, my heart She dances to the rhythm While she’s swinging her violin bow A crowd comes together Around her, she’s the star of the show She slides toward my table Gives a wiggle and sends me a wink Blows a kiss my way, and I catch it As I raise my drink She appears in my distant dreams Every day we’re apart That sweet lady’s music Captivated my heart, my heart The band packs up, it’s getting late And it’s time to close I ask where the lady went But nobody knows Stepping down from the stage, she turned around To throw back her hair And then she slipped through that doorway Into the cold night air

WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS (c)2006 Vanessa Torres
When the levee breaks where will your church be? Laid in ruins on the banks of the Mississippi
When the levee breaks and the truth lays you down There in the dark too small a loss, to be found
Who to fix this ravaged home? How to heal this gasping heart? Where’s the door, where’s the door to board This rocking ark? This rocking ark…? When the levee breaks
There’s no safety in poverty We don’t run this government We don’t trust the police When there’s a flood that comes to take you away Just dig your heals in ‘cause there’s no help on its way No not today
Who to fix this ravaged home? How to heal this gasping heart? Where’s the door, where’s the door to board This rocking ark? This rocking ark…? When the levee breaks
The ghost of New Orleans is what’s stirring all around They set us up, and watched us fall, knees to the ground They kept their money ‘cause they called us too far gone Instead it’s funneled to the war in the name of freedom Yeah, that’s your freedom
Who to fix this ravaged home? How to heal this gasping heart? Where the door, where the door to board This rocking ark? This rocking ark…? When the levee breaks
Their vultures descend ‘cause there’s profits to be made Where there’s misery and death, someone’s getting paid We call this business we call this democracy For every dirty dollar there’s blood draining out of you and me Into the Mississippi…
Who to fix this ravaged home? How to heal this gasping heart? Where the door, where the door to board This rocking ark? This rocking ark…? When the levee breaks
When the levee breaks where will our church be Laid in ruins on the banks of the Mississippi When the levee breaks When the levee breaks

Lyrics by: Jennifer McLean Title: Surely Forgot
WITH HUNGERING CRIES…DEEP IN THE DARK… FOR – GET – ME NOT… WAS OUR LAST REMARK...
NOW IT SEEMS…TIMES…PASSED ME BY…FAR PAST THE YEARS - PAST YESTERDAYS TEARS... - AND ALL…….. I ONCE HELD INSIDE
WITH THE AIR SO STILL…. ON THIS LONG LONELY NIGHT I’M NOW SURROUNDED BY STRANGERS…WHO ARE NOW MY LIFE… SITTING ALONE….WITH MY HAZED HEART OF STONE… I LONG FOR REMINDANCE …OF ALL THAT’S BEHIND US… BUT MY HEART STANDS STILL…LONELY AND DARK… AS I REACH DOWN INSIDE FOR A GLIMMERING SPARK…
----------------------CHORUS---------------- I SURELY FORGOT….YOUR KISS IN THE NIGHT… JUST DON’T REMEMBER…YOUR LOVE... IN MY LIFE... SO WITH THE WORDS… SO TENDER AND LIGHT… TELL ME WHAT WAS IT LIKE….. WHAT WAS IT LIKE…. TO HAVE LOVE... IN OUR LIVES… LOVE IN OUR LIVES........ --------------------------------------------
IF I COULD ONLY TOUCH...YOUR HEART AND YOUR THOUGHTS.. THERE’D BE WARMTH IN MY MEMORIES...OF ALL THE LOVE LOST... EMPTY ECHOES WOULD DIMINISH...FROM LOVE GONE ESTRAY... BUT YOUR SHADOW ESCAPES ME...AND FADES FAR AWAY... ALL THAT IS LEFT....ARE MEMORIES CLOUDED AND BROKEN.... EMPTY WORDS THAT ONCE WHERE SPOKEN....
-------------------CHORUS------------------- I SURELY FORGOT….YOUR KISS IN THE NIGHT… JUST DON’T REMEMBER…YOUR LOVE... IN MY LIFE... SO WITH THE WORDS… SO TENDER AND LIGHT… TELL ME WHAT WAS IT LIKE ….. WHAT WAS IT LIKE…. TO HAVE LOVE... IN OUR LIVES… LOVE IN OUR LIVES........
TELL ME WHAT WAS IT LIKE.......WHAT WAS IT LIKE...

THE SPEED OF DARKNESS Music & Lyrics by Jack Erdie (c)2005
I been thinkin’ ‘bout velocity How the planet spins so fast That my thoughts all get ahead of me While my dreams drag in the past Can’t imagine what the loss would be If it all should end today It’s the information century But there’s nothing left to say
CHORUS: Please help me, Einstein I’m stuck on a time line My space is caving in The speed of darkness Has outrun my carcass again
Well, I used to love the library Better than our happy home It’s the one place you can go for free And be totally alone A cute librarian that you could watch From the metaphysics aisle And between her knees and Socrates I was one sick juvenile
Repeat Chorus
History runs in circles Religion runs in chains And any little jerk’ll tell ya Darkness runs in my veins
Now it’s midnight at the depot Of the last stop in our tale Hear the final warning whistle blow See the shiver down the rails There’s a bright-eyed kid beside me Just a-tuggin’ at my sleeve Askin’: “Mister, why you cryin’? Ain’t you still got time to leave?”
Repeat Chorus

THOUSANDS OF ANGELS
The storm was raging, ever was told Some were so fragile, and some were so old Frightened and alone, In their own little beds And the water kept rising up to their heads
Chorus: Thousands of Angels God sent that day Thousands of Angels To those who had prayed Thousands of Angels To those left alone Thousands of Angels Carried them home
People in attics, on rooftops and trees Clinging to loved ones, or a piece of debris Holding on, as the raging water flowed The current so strong, some had to let go
Repeat Chorus
Something has happened, something is wrong This is America, and we should be strong This is a glimpse of how it can be If we don't believe in God and country
Repeat Chorus
Through all this sorrow, trials and fears We'll hear of miracles, throughout the years Tragedy to triumph, God is the way Wake up America, before it's too late
Don't live for riches, and Don't live for greed Help one another In their time of need And always remember God is above He will bless America, once again with his LOVE... (c) October 4, 2005, Darlene Sams

“New Orleans” – S. Furbish
We walk the old and crowded streets Of this here party town See the steam rising up off the river As the sun goes down
The courtyards are so seductive With a warm soft light they flirt And the bands that play down on Bourbon St They get so loud sometimes they actually hurt
The Nachez blows it's whistle As it pulls out from the dock And all the children turn to wave hello Up and down riverwalk
New Orleans, New Orleans You’re a river that's bound to flood You’re a scene right from some movie and my God you're in my blood New Orleans, New Orleans You will take us the way we are We may travel this big wide world But we will never be that far From New Orleans
The streetcars roll and rumble As they head up old St Charles The two-step will get perfected tonight On the dance floor of Michauls
Oh, the café' Demonde down on Decatur That's where everybody, everybody goes The beignets get piled so high with powdered sugar That it spills off all on to your clothes Jackson Square is a postcard And all the fortunes tellers know You may come here as a tourist But it may never let you go.
New Orleans, New Orleans You’re a river that's bound to flood You’re a scene right from some movie and my God you're in my blood New Orleans, New Orleans You will take us as we are We may travel this big wide world But we will never be that far From New Orleans

How Katie Feels (c) 2005 Nigel Clothier
Katie’s dad was a fireman but one day he went missing, inside a fallen building he was trapped In his time he saved some lives and everyone remembers until the burning embers turn to ash
And I mean no disrespect to those we praise as heroes, When the room goes quiet, I wonder how Katie feels
Katie was a child back then, six, maybe seven, but she knew that heaven is where spacemen play And her tears they never came, she never gave up hoping, although her heart was broken on that day And I mean no disrespect to those we praise as heroes When the room goes quiet, I wonder how Katie feels
Katie had her toys but they were no replacement And she knew what that look meant in her mother’s eyes
And I mean no disrespect to those we praise as heroes When the room goes quiet, I wonder how Katie feels

Changing December (To Remember)
He sat and watched headlights moving like faded times He says out there in this weather you can hardly see all the signs Spring is somewhere, it’s far out of sight For now the snow will keeps falling you'll need a good blanket tonight
Mid December come what may April is just a love song and June is so far away
Now we're all alone in our own particular ways The snow keeps rising and the silence gets louder by the day There's no pity for the lover that just can't forget Cause the days go by and they hold no regrets
Mid December come what may April is just a love song and June is so far away
He says cause us old folks know, it's dug deep in our hearts The way life was before this loneliness had its start And some never let go of the things you can't hold But we all must face life growing old
I can remember a day when life burned bright But now I’m just captive in winter’s lonely night Because with time my gold surely turned to grey He just looks off to the distance and had little more to say
Mid December come what may April is just a love song and June is so far away

Memorial (Far Too Young) Copyright 1999-2000 by Bruce Paul
They walked among us for a while And left a lasting mark With ev’ry reason to complain They suffered in the dark But not a word of sad regret You’d ever hear them say Now the tears of friends and kinfolk flow To help them on their way
(Chorus) Cause they were far to bright to walk the lands of twilight And they were far too strong to draw in their last breath And they were far too glad to know such pain and suff’ring And they were far too young to hold the hand of death
They showed us that a hero’s life Is not on public view It’s lived out in a quietness Known just to me and you The pain that’s often kept inside That’s lifted from our backs That builds the courage, strength and verve That you and I both lack
(Chorus)
So join me now to honor them In ways they would approve A dance in passing thunderstorms A tender look of love A tiny glass that’s raised among The folks that they hold dear That brings them back in heart and mind Through all the passing years
(Chorus)
Yes they were far too young to hold the hand of death

Stronger For Your Flame (c) 2006 Randall Williams
Some of us shine bold – like Betelgeuse is bright - a few you’d barely notice in the early evening light.
Some of us burn soft – like a lamp’s sweetest oil - others sputter smoke and ash in lives of pain and toil.
Some try to hide it behind a suit and tie - or do the best they can in the world of nine to five.
Chorus: Maybe you were all of this and more: borrowed light from those who came before. And the children who haven’t yet been named are stronger for your spark – stronger for your flame.
Were you a blazing ball of fire – before you were even born? Did you find the cure for polio, or make the telephone?
Were you disobedient at the age of thirty-three when some wiseass local rabbi had you nailed up to a tree?
Were you black and tired, on the front seat of a bus or on a protest march in Bombay, lying face down in the dust?
Chorus: Maybe you were all of this and more: borrowed light from those who came before. And the children who haven’t yet been named are stronger for your spark – stronger for your flame.
What if there’s no drama in the day-to-day – life a load of pots and pans and diapers to be changed?
You’d rather climb a mountain, or walk to Timbuktu But the truest light burns just as strong, no matter what you choose
You don’t need to burn up in a brilliant ball of flame – we’ll be blessed, even if we’ve never heard your name.
Chorus: Because you are all of this and more: borrowed light from those who came before. And the children who haven’t yet been named are stronger for your spark – stronger for your flame.

THE BELLE OF NEW HAVEN Copyright 2006 David Anderson Moccasin Telegraph Music ASCAP
The Belle of New Haven is that what you called me? As the Civil War raged like a sad bedtime story William Winchester was wedded to me As the guns of his father defended Old Glory We were as happy (3) as happy could be
When the long war was over no peace was in store It was westward the wagons, live and die by the gun The Winchester rifle that stood by the door Protected its owner from the murderous Indian (And) it made us as wealthy (3) as wealthy could be Chorus A factory for death’s mass production The curse of my family for all history We made the gun that won the West But the ghosts of its victims came looking for me
The death of my daughter and later my husband Became my undoing and drove me to madness I sought the advice of a psychic in Boston So desperate was I for a cure to my sadness (That) I would do anything (3) he wanted done
Chorus A house like no other in all of creation The curse of my family for all history We made the gun that won the West But the ghosts of its victims gave me no rest
I did as he told me, what choice was I given? Repetition compulsion from sun to sun The house was my husband, my child, my ambition I never had guests, no not even one The house grew as big (3) as my family’s sin Chorus 1
My house was my passion, my comfort, my art Half of my life my obsession was spent Each night in a different room, dreaming apart Then the hammers fell silent for only a moment (But) that’s all it took (3) to silence my heart
I’ve never told anyone, maybe I should What harm can there be now that my life is ended A mystery created of glass and of wood I’ll tell you the secret of what I intended Why did I do it? (3) because I could Chorus 2

HOLD YOU © 2006 Luke Holder
Hold you While the dawn breaks and unfurls Hold You As we’re spinning on this world
If we don’t hold each other, Then we might get another chance. This may be our last day To do this Earthly dance. I love everybody and I don’t care if they love me.
I’ve got daydreams where everybody dies. I’m left all alone, but it’s no surprise. Is there anything left worth loving for?
I have no idea who I am from day to night. Sometime I just lose my will to fight. And if we all die tomorrow would I have ruined my last day?
Hold you While the dawn breaks and unfurls Hold You As we’re spinning on this world If we don’t hold each other, Then we might get another chance. This may be our last day To do this Earthly dance. I love everybody and I don’t care if they love me.

Those People by Janet Saugstad dakotafaith2@yahoo.com copyright pending 2006 Those People
(Chorus) I'm one of those people -- you say it in disgust One of those people you could never trust One of those people that Jesus loved so much One of those people that you won't even touch
You sit beneath that big white steeple And praise His holy name But you're afraid of those people For whom Christ Jesus came (Repeat Chorus)
All of those people were first upon His list All of those people He will truly bless When He calls us to His side We know why He was crucified (Repeat Chorus)
It is those people that Jesus has set free Those people -- just like you and me Those people need some of your time Those people are not that hard to find (Repeat Chorus)
You walk around the other side Like he was never crucified One of those people that Jesus loves so much One of those people that you won't even touch

THE CHRISTMAS CARD Copyright 2005 Debra Peterson
There’s a Christmas card in my mind Of another place and time With my family all around the Christmas tree.
But the card is not the same, Because when I call your name. There’s no one to answer Back to me.
Chorus Lord please bring a child our way, And we promise every day To shower them with tender loving care. And now all I ask of you Is to take this group of two And somehow help make us a family.
I want to touch your tiny hands , Hold closely to my heart I wish you were here for me to see.
Because I know somewhere out there, Is a child in need of care. Who cries and no one Wipes their tears away.
Chorus Lord please bring a child our way, And we promise every day. To shower them with tender loving care. And now all I ask of you, Is to take this group of two And somehow help make us a family.
Bridge Lord I pray with each new day There may be a child to say… “I love you mom and dad And thanks for letting me stay”
Now that Christmas card in my mind Of another place and time With my family all around the Christmas tree. Is filled with so much love From the Father up above Now we’re a happy family.

Tenderness C1995 Mary Sarah
Walking on a razor's edge Away from the words of men Aching ribs with every breath Worlds apart from all the rest

Let it in Let it in Temple domes can't hold the place of life in wed Of life in One Of life in this tenderness

The weight of you in your resting state Sean Hoots (2005)
The weight of you in your resting state is heavy when I'm sleepily nudging you across the bed. Maybe it's your dreams, maybe it's a day's worth of filling With scraps of conversations, images and supper in your head, And your eyes, And your belly.
Just ease on me
The light of streetlamps and starry skies is careful Not to impose its stare and interrupt your sleep. I wish my footsteps didn't creak along the floorboards late at night. Oh, but how could I disturb you when you look so warm, so peaceful and so deep? Oh, so deep In your head Your sweet, sweet head
Just ease on me
And in the morning we'll turn yawns into kisses Like a proper mister and misses Even though I haven't proposed to you Like I'm supposed to
The reckless mess of the sheets shows signs you were tossing Until you found that place where you are resting now Why do I tip-toe when I know you're gonna stir anyway? I guess I'm just trying to figure out how I can slip In beside you Not to wake you Just to feel you Breathing in a rhythm so I can sing myself to sleep.

Maggie and Jack (c) 2006 George Thomas
Jack from Arizona Lived out on the rez Lived in a little hogan All alone with his dad
His dad was Navaho His mom was Mexican She had left the both of them So long ago
Jack lived as Navaho His heart was in Mexico Jack lived as Navaho His heart was in Mexico
CHORUS Look to the sky Where eagles fly Way down south To the ocean
Maggie from Virginia Moved out west with mom Trying to start a brand new life After dad was gone
Maggie had some questions Am I really black? Why do I keep listening to Johnny Cash?
Hey, mama My eyes, they're green Shut up you girl, Don't talk about it
CHORUS
Maggie worked the concession stand Over by the canyon Jack would visit and buy a soda They would talk
Maggie's mom found out About the situation Took a broomstick and beat her girl Broke three ribs
Hey girl, Can't you see he's not black? Hey girl, Not even Mexican?
CHORUS

New Orleans - Michael Packer Copyright 2006
We're coming home New Orleans the place where we belong We're coming home New Orleans We've done nothing wrong It's hard to understand why they would let us drown, can't blame you New Orleans cause you are our town.
We're coming home New Orleans they say they just forgot We're coming home New Orleans their finger points at us But now is not the time to dwell on whose right or who is wrong We're coming home New Orleans to make you strong
The soul of New Orleans is it's people of the blues They made this city what it is without us it will lose.
We're coming home New Orleans with Fats Domino and Dr. John We're coming home New Orleans to buy another round. We'll fix you right turn on the lights like it was before. We're coming home New Orleans don't let them close the door.
We're coming home New Orleans even though it took it's toll We're coming home New Orleans to let the good times roll.

YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND TOMORROW (c)2005 Tonya Betz
V. Water stains on window sills, you’ll have to scrub them away Shattered glass on the kitchen floor, will you find every shard? And all us cracked pots sitting in a row, but deep inside all that dirt The flowers will root and grow, when the time comes
V. Torn linens, grass-stained clothes, you’ll toss them out this time Weeds as tall as the house you live, where does the first cut begin? And all us invalids sit and mope for hours, but there’s validity out there The truth of love, grace and hope, when we look away C. There’s a change on the wind, A gentle nudging breeze telling us to begin again There’s a storm in the distance, A front of opposition, but this is where you belong Turn away from the past, renew your mind, Learn to begin again
V. Dented fenders on jalopy specials, you’ll drive it into the ground Guitars in need of tuning, will you take the time to make it right? And all us block heads think we know it all, what do we really know? The mind of God or the will of man, when will we learn to listen? C. There’s a change on the wind, A gentle nudging breeze telling us to begin again There’s a storm in the distance, A front of opposition, but this is where you belong Turn away from the past, renew your mind, Learn to begin again
B. Yesterday, today and tomorrow, everyday You’re the same When all has faded and withered away, You remain the same

POSTCARD
© 2003 Gregory C. Federico
Warm summer night Soft is the moonglow Alone within my room A moment: A quiet time to remember My journey’s end leads home to you
Warm are my thoughts Deep are my memories So much to share with you A postcard – to write down a simple message -- to let you know that. . .
You’re on my mind -- day and night Thought I’d drop you a line: Hope you feel alright Just a matter of time Leave a candle burning bright – ‘till I get home to you. . .
Cool misty fog Bay of San Francisco Good friends to pass the time A restaurant -- on a wharf in Sausalito A drink and a view of the golden gate
Cool is the coast Waves flowing freely This trek full of surprises A sunset: Excited, lost in reverie Yet still thinking of you. . .
You’re on my mind – day and night Thought I’d drop you a line: Hope you feel alright Just a matter of time Leave a candle burning bright – ‘till I get home to you. . .

Midnight Cafe (c) 2006 by Phillip A. Pearson
Sophie's waiting tables hoping to be found Jerry stirs his coffee till his dreams dissolve Couple in the corner, a sordid affair Hand me down women huddle by the curb At the midnight, midnight cafe The midnight, midnight cafe
Some little runaway lost and afraid Begging for mercy and a place to stay Candy's got the answer to your darkest desire Father Tom will free you with brimstone and fire At the midnight, midnight cafe The midnight, midnight cafe
Lovers incognito go their separate ways Cooky's in the kitchen numbing his pain Sophie's still waiting for the phone to ring Heaven only knows what tomorrow brings At the midnight, midnight cafe The midnight, midnight cafe
Streetlights flicker, mornings almost here Lonely faces begin to disappear Jerry lays his money, shaped like a rose Next to Sophie then he turns to go At the midnight, midnight cafe The midnight, midnight cafe

Waiting For The Sun - SOCAN 2006
Written by: Mark Osachoff aka: Anthill
Heaven and hell are just the same In my distant trascendental scream They both count for something in all of the places that I've been. And you know if you've been there you know just what I mean.
And I don't know why, I'm struggling underneathe my skin. And I don't know why, I never let anyone in.
Pleasure and pain, in a sunlit rain Are a lover who still calls your name. They both count for something in all that she became. And I don't know why.
I don't know why, I'm struggling underneath my skin. And I don't know why, I never let anyone in. I'm waiting for the good time feeling cause that's the one you wanted. At least that's what I tell myself. I'm waiting for the good time feeling, into my self healing, but part of me is on the shelf.
Waiting for the Sun Waiting for the Sun Waiting for the Sun Waiting for the Sun

Wizened Warrior (McKee copyright 2006)
A thousand silver swords Glint upon the water And the warrior knows A battle looms ahead Bristled on his neck Are the hairs that rise to tell him There’s a thin-frayed line Between his life and death
Chorus The wingtips of the soaring hawk Flash shadows on the weary All the battles ever fought Are aching in his bones Somewhere along his journey Youth’s passion has gone bleary And the wizened warrior turns away
The memory of enemies Creep into his dreaming And the vision of his battlefields Never fades from sight The beads of sweat, the blinking lash The cold stare of the desperate The foul breath upon his face Makes him restless in the night
Chorus
He’s fought with blinded bravery But this fight will be different Nothing has prepared him For the thing that he must do The enemy before him now Knows no fear or danger His soul will not release him Till there’s nothing left to lose
Chorus
If he could tell the young Of the stench and of the horrors If he could only find the words The young heart to persuade He’d say the greatest battle Will come when life is dimming And you finally find the strength To turn yourself away

"Forgiven" by Cheyenne Medders 2006
Oh love is a flood that breaks the levies down And the plans that you've built will crumble to the ground It'll sure make you regret the way that you've been livin' And we all want to be forgiven
I've been on both sides of injustice, both sides of the crime I've been the wicked one most of the time It really comes together when you become the victim And wonder if you are forgiven
When the love that you wear on your sleeve is not returned And no matter what you do you end up getting burned But you've tossed around the hearts of too many women You'll wish you were forgiven
Well she roared like a lion 'cause her heart had come undone But still somehow decided that I was not the one She spread her wings and talons and flew off like a griffin And left me unforgiven
When you're standin' in my shoes and you lost the key to love And you're poundin' on the door and you push and you shove You look over your shoulder and the sands of time are shiftin' You'll beg to be forgiven
My whole life was a failure, a bad throw of the dice But I'm hung next to a man invitin' me to paradise I lose feeling in the members through which nails are driven And only feel forgiven.

TITLE: DEMOCRACY
WRITTEN BY RICHARD GROOMBRIDGE
COPYRIGHT Ricky Dicky Music Co. 2003
CHORUS: I LOVE LIVING IN AMERICA, BECAUSE I AM SO FREE I LOVE LIVING IN AMERICA, BECAUSE IT IS DE-MOCKERY-SEE
Verse 1: Everyone gets to have a vote and if I win I get to steer the boat.
But you have to row for me because it is de-mockery-see. Verse 2: Now I’ve won I get to choose the song. You know you mustn’t get it wrong. You have to sing along with me, because it is de-mockery-see.
Verse 3: When you don’t get to vote it’s primitive and the rulers of those people don’t deserve to live.
The people on the streets, they have no voice. Living in poverty, they have no choice.
Verse 4:
You know some countries they divide because of tensions they try to hide.
Racial hatred is not cool. That is why we segregate our schools.
Verse 5:
Sometimes you might disagree because this is de-mockery-see.
I am ONE and you are LOST but you still get to share the cost.

That's Why I Never Get the Blues c 2003, Joe Cash
I've got no shortage of attention from the girls I eat a dozen oysters, I find a dozen pearls Got lots of money, more than any man could use That's why I never get the blues
I go to Vegas and I nearly always win I'm just that lucky, that's the way it's always been Rose-colored glasses are enhancing all my views That's why I never get the blues
There's only one thing that I want that I can't get You're holding out on me, a regular coquette But I will have your love, on that my mind is set Until you change your heart, I'll have that one regret
I buy some stocks and bonds, and each time prices rise I enter contests and I always win the prize I play the horses and I hardly ever lose That's why I never get the blues
The weather's always nice when I go out to play My atmosphere is like a summertime bouquet I never step in stuff that messes up my shoes That's why I never get the blues
I never have to ask my bosses for a raise In conversation, I can turn a witty phrase And anything I do is always front page news That's why I never get the blues
But you're the one thing that I want that I can't get You're still avoiding me, that hasn't changed - not yet It's kind of like you're being Scarlett to my Rhett But I will turn you 'round, on that one you can bet
Each time I take a test, I always get an "A" When I need something, it comes on a silver tray I never ever even had to pay my dues That's why I never get the blues That's why I never get the blues That's why I never get the blues

UNRAVELED (© 2005 Alice Olsen)
I've been knitting together the threads of my life And I thought they were pretty strong And it seemed there was nothing could shake up my world Until you came along But my life tumbled out of control And the pattern was no longer clear When you broke the stitches of my soul And you left me standing here...
Chorus:
UNRAVELED, frayed at the edges, breaking apart at the seams UNRAVELED, torn up and tattered, that's all that you left of my dreams UNRAVELED, picking up pieces, wondering just where to start "Cause you know you left my heart, UNRAVELED
It's so hard to try figuring out the next step Now that everything's fallen apart To forgive and forget you without a regret And take up my patch-worked heart I guess there's probably a lesson to learn But it's not very clear yet to me How the ties that bound me to your love Refuse to set me free.
I'm.. (repeat chorus)
All I have left is the loose ends Of a heart full of snags and knots Now I'm trying to patch up and mend All my tangled twisted thoughts
I'm.. (repeat chorus)

Like Everybody Else Drew James © 2006
Summer’s turned to fall and I’m going to the mall Buying a set of new clothes I made up my mind exactly what kind They got ‘em at the store where the other kids go With a little bit of luck I’ll save a few bucks If they have ‘em on the discount shelf Won’t it be cool when I go back to school Looking like everybody else
I don’t wanna stand out when I go out I wanna fit in I don’t wanna make waves or start a new craze I wanna make friends You know I just can’t be myself, ‘til I look like everybody else
Sun’s gone down in my home town Time to watch a little TV My cable box is tuned into Fox American Idol is what I’m gonna see The TV Guide says it may be tied But Simon says the skinny blond’ll sell When the star of my show’s by the democratic vote I’m gonna think like everybody else
I don’t wanna stand out when I go out I wanna fit in I don’t wanna make waves or start a new craze I wanna make friends You know I just can’t be myself, ‘til I think like everybody else
I listened to the man with the cellphone plan He said the first 30 days’re free The phone’s on sale and it’s got email Even has a camera and a fitted earpiece The month’s run out and it’s left no doubt I’ll spend a ton of money on my cell But an arm and a leg is what I’ll pay Just to live like everybody else
I don’t wanna stand out when I go out I wanna fit in I don’t wanna make waves or start a new craze I wanna make friends You know I just can’t be myself, ‘til I live like everybody else
I did what I could to make my life good But a black cloud’s on the rise There’s a few with a different view They won’t line up no matter how we try I gotta beware of those people out there What they’ll do you can never tell This country’s free so why don’t they just leave If they can’t be like everybody else
I don’t wanna stand out when I go out I wanna fit in I don’t wanna make waves or start a new craze I wanna make friends We could all get along so well if they were just like everybody else We could all get along so well if they were just like everybody else

BETWEEN MASON AND DICKSON
Beside me she stirs softly as I slowly crawl out’ta bed
An’ stumble through the dark tryin’ hard not to wake the kids
A quick shave and shower, warmin’ up the old Freightliner
Not much time to be a father an’ no time left for her Chorus
Between Mason, Ohio and Dickson, Tennessee
Caught between hard rock and southern country harmony
Leavin’ before first light, gettin' home way too late
Hours take their toll, eighteen wheels roll on the concrete interstate
Weekend comes her city job’s done, the kids are out’ta school
But I’ll be gone on a local run, there's risin’ cost of rent an' fuel
Sunday mornin' I sleep in, she’ll take the kids to church and pray
In the evening we won’t fight again over all work an’ no play
Between Mason, Ohio and Dickson, Tennessee
Caught between hard rock and southern country harmony
Leavin’ before first light, gettin' home way too late
Hours take their toll, eighteen wheels roll on the concrete interstate
You know, they say Jesus died for everyone; red an’ blue, blue an’ gray
But lately it seems I’m on the losin’ side of barely gettin’ by day to day
Between Mason, Ohio and Dickson, Tennessee
Caught between hard rock and southern country harmony
Leavin’ before first light, gettin' home way too late
Hours take their toll, eighteen wheels roll on the concrete interstate
Hours take their toll, eighteen wheels roll on the concrete interstate
An’ Lord I pray someday, some way I’ll be free
Caught between hard rock and southern country harmony

Love Can Do Anything by John Trower
Love has soft hands and a tender voice Love can make you laugh, make the world rejoice Love can set your soul on fire, fill your heart with desire Love can make you go insane, love can make you burn with pain Love can set the world free, love can bring misery Love can make you feel alive, love can make you want to die Love can take or love can bring Love can soothe, love can sting
Chorus: Love can do anything Love can do anything Love can do what you want it to Love can come to you
repeat chorus

OLD AFRICA This Lyric is #231
(C)2006 Zdon Paporrella
I wanna talk about a place with mountains and landscapes Blessed with flowers and beautiful trees of all grades Sun shinning very bright in the sky Moon that shined so bright as we played through the night I remember at the time we were kids, there was so much space for us to play in Even if it was raining we’ll be playing and running in it Life was all fun ‘hakuna matata’ no hassles and no damn worries Papa telling us stories seated round a fire Mama chopping and grinding and trying ‘o’ cook us supper Nights like days, days like nights, In Africa you couldn’t tell the difference cos the mood was always right No clubs, no restaurant, no joints and no pubs No whores, no hawkers and no drugs We had our playground and squares and we had fun Kids singing folks songs, doing folk dances People telling folklores in very odd places Those were the days, the good old days I reminisce in my dreams, yeah Old Africa
I remember running around without underwear, We didn’t care playing horse with my peers We used to run around in the rain naked you can’t imagine all the fun that we had back then. We was living then, cos the air was unpolluted then We didn’t have to treat the water that we drank then, We had no cars and movement was very slow But at least we didn’t had to worry ‘bout our ozone And God knows even with no shoes and clothes we managed to survive in the heat or the cold We had no tractor but we ploughed our farmland And before the use of money, men we had trade by barter Civilization came and changed all that, even the Bible says the root of all evil is cash You can see that almost all the problems we have are results of no cash or maybe too much cash Today the world worships cash and there’s too much crime The rich steal more that the poor these times, uhh In Africa we had our own rules and regulations We never needed politics and bloody constitutions We had our own ways of life and our own religion We had problems and trouble but we found solutions Those were the days, the good old days I reminisce in my dreams, yeah Old Africa I miss those days
Civilization and technology, they are both synonymous But the problems and the bad results are too voluminous Civilization created new jobs by building industries, factories on the African vast farmlands Technology is taking those same jobs back by creating new machines that can do the same jobs Like robbing or stealing from Peter just to pay Paul, They’re creating more problems with brainy solutions Ain’t it confusing that they make the nuke and A. bombs to fight wars and they wanna teach us peace and love They steal and rob us of oil, your gold and diamonds but they tell the whole world that we’re the ones who’re corrupt They’re teaching us humanity but they took us in captivity Took away our pride, our esteem and our dignity Now they got audacity to laugh at our reality That nothing good can come out of this continent that’s fallacy I think it’s time for us to call their bluff and call the shots And tell them that without us they ain’t [naughty word removed], let it all stop But that won’t happen cuz we try so hard to be like them We’re swapping our way of life for theirs to be friends with them Take reality but you can’t take my dreams So I reminisce, every night Old Africa You can’t take my dreams

TWISTIN’ IN THE WIND By Robert Blake aka/”Dr. Bob )The Music Doctor)
1.You said you’d meet me on Monday But you never did show. You said you’d call me on Tuesday but you never called at all. You said you’d see me on Friday, girl you’ve got a lot of gall.
Chorus: You left me TWISTIN’ IN THE WIND, you’ve got me hangin’ by a thread, you know I’m longin’ for your kissin’, Lord, I wish that I was dead. You’ve got me out here on a limb and left me TRISTIN” IN THE WIND.
2.I guess sometimes we make the wrong choice, case in point is you and me. Sometimes we listen to the wrong voice, Our love just wasn’t meant to be. Girl we could have had a ball, But you didn’t care at all. Ch.
3.I thought that we could make a good team, We could set this world on fire. I never figured for a minute That you’d turn out to be a liar. girl if you would just be true, then I wouldn’t say to you. Ch.

Never Too Late For a Goodbye Words and Music by Dale Selch © 2005 BMI
V1
I was waitin on a train at a railway station Eavesdroppin’ on a conversation Between a Father and a Son The boy was sittin’ up straight lookin’ down the track Toward the places he was goin while his Dad was lookin back At the places he’d been He said “I love you Daddy and I know you’re hurt Cause I’m leavin home to find my place in the world Forgive me now, I’ll make you proud some day” But his Daddy just walked away…
Chorus
It’s never too late for a Goodbye A letter to a friend, to swallow your pride or a good cry Forgivin’ somebody or confessin’ a lie It’s never too late for a Goodbye.
V2
Went to see a sick friend in his hospice bed I said “I’ll see you again” but I never did I was just afraid Cause my faith was weak and my heart was hard Seein’ him was seein’ me but by the grace of God I’m alive today We really mean those things we never go to say And then ashes to ashes, dust to dust The wind blows the words away
Chorus
Bridge
You can waste it away Or you can change your mind Cause you’ll always regret Lost time
V3
There’s a stone in a yard with two names carved With the dates they were born and the dates they died And that’s about all I try to visit the place from time to time But that place is theirs and it’s a hollow ground Tomorrows shadows don’t fall I miss them both so much but it ain’t quite my time Withered fruit don’t fall far from the vine
Chorus

Reach Out and Shake His Hand (That's What Your Daddy Tries to Do) ©5/2006 Vanessa Bordlee
verse 1 Growin’ up Jim’d been a foolish kid Shootin’ off his mouth from second base Then one day ole’ Billy hollered at him Said “yer dead if I don’t make home plate”
Pre-chorus But after the game… Jim’s Daddy called ‘em over to say
Chorus “Reach out and shake his hand Son, you gotta’ take a stand Don’t worry ‘bout what others think of you You can always choose to love When push comes to shove That’s what your Daddy tries to do”
verse 2 What Jim did got him enough ribs For an impromptu office barbecue Fueled by rumors and smarty remarks Oh it had him in an awful stew
Pre-chorus ‘Till he considered… What his Daddy used to say
Chorus Reach out and shake his hand Son, you gotta’ take a stand Don’t worry ‘bout what others think of you You can always choose to love When push comes to shove That's what your Daddy tries to do
Bridge Now Jim’s boy Zane, is playin’ T-ball & His mouth runs faster 'n his legs So coach's son got to pokin’ fun Takin' pot shots 'n tryin' t’ pick a fight Reminded Jim all over again What he'd say to ‘em after the game
Chorus Reach out and shake his hand Son, you gotta’ take a stand Don’t worry ‘bout what others think of you You can always choose to love When push comes to shove That's what your Daddy tries to do
Tag And that’s what my Daddy tried to do Yeah, that's what Grandaddy tried to do

The Thief c 2004, David Thom/Andy Shaw
You're just a regular low-down dirty thief You made me think you love me and then you leave I'm just a name in your old game of life Where somone has to leave, another pay the price
You should have told me, darlin', when you knew That you were thinkin' that you might have to move To get back to the girl you used to be Cause now our lovin ways are just a memory
Your heart has turned to stone, dear, overnight Your eyes don't carry that same lovin light And when my hand's in yours the touch is often cold I can tell that you don't even want a lovin' hand to hold
I never believed that what you said was true Would a home and family be that hard for you I lived my life believing I was the one Now all that's left is a broken heart to carry on
You're just a regular low-down dirty thief You made me think you love me and then you leave I'm just a name in your old game of life Where somone has to leave, another pay the price

The Last Snow LoisMae Howard Copyrighted 2005
When I was young, I’d stand at my window, watching snowflakes fly I would listen to the howling winds, as the drifts piled high We couldn’t wait to walk to the pond, through the forest dark with night With our shovels we’d clear paths on the ice and go skating in the moonlight.
We’d build a fire up on the shore, to warm our hands and feet the stars would sparkle overhead, the air smelled so sweet Now it seems when the winter comes, the winds still howl and blow but they never bring that chilling frost, have we seen The Last Snow?
When I grew up, I loved the mountains, where we’d go to ski We all knew the flakes would start to fall before October Fifteenth So we’d wax up our old rock skis, put them by the back door Everyone said “it smells like snow”, “what are we waiting for?”
We’d head up to the mountain and gather in the bar We’d leave our coats and sweaters outside in the car Now it seems when the winter comes, the winds still howl and blow but they never bring that chilling frost, have we seen The Last Snow?
I haven’t seen a snowflake fly in almost ten years What we’re doing to the animals brings me to tears Every winter just gets warmer, flowers bloom all winter long I wonder when we’ll turn things around and fix what we’ve done wrong.
We’d build a fire up on the shore, to warm our hands and feet the stars would sparkle overhead, the air smelled so sweet Now it seems when the winter comes, the winds still howl and blow but they never bring that chilling frost, have we seen The Last Snow?

Angel Eyes Words & Music by: Les Vaughn Aug 2, 2002
Angel Eyes,Lookin at me, Wonderin what they really see, Do they see the soul that lies behind, What do they see, What do they find,
Love that only two can share, Only your eyes would ever dare To look at me and bare my soul, To love so deeply would be my goal
Only you can help me fly. Beyond the clouds, beyond the sky. Only you, so take my hand, Come and show this mortal man That there is life beyond the sun You shine so bright must be the one We'll walk together, hand in hand, We'll laugh and play in barefoot sand, And show the world just what you see, Paint my soul so I can be free. And show the world those eyes that shine Not only yours, but also mine.
and there is life be-yond the sun You shine so bright, You are the one Angel eyes… Lookin at me…………

The One © 2003 Russell Lee
Verse 1 You are the one I need your feeding my obsession You are the one I see I’m choosing my confession You wrap me up so tight your beautiful eyes your lovely eyes In you my only hope of breaking my repression
Chorus 1 And I see, I’m the only one that really sees I’m the only one that’s left to see Never want anyone to see you You are the one the only one to wash this all away You are the one the only one to give it all away You are the one the only one to wash this all away You are the one the only one to give it all away
Verse 2 I want to get inside see what you see through your eyes I need to get inside find out the truth of your lies You’ve got me spinning round your innocent eyes your lovely eyes In you there is no hope no purity of its kind
Chorus 2 And I see, I’m the only one that really sees I’m the only one that’s left to see Never want anyone to see you You are the one the only one to wash this all away You are the one the only one to give it all away You are the one the only one to wash this all away You are the one the only one to give it all away
Verse 3 I feel my every need is hidden in your picture Blank stares you always gave still focused on your figure You make me so impure your innocent eyes your lovely eyes To keep you locked up tight my only way to be sure
Chorus 3 And I see, I’m the only one that really sees I’m the only one that’s left to see Never want anyone to see you You are the one the only one to wash this all away You are the one the only one to give it all away You are the one the only one to wash this all away You are the one the only one to give it all away

THE MARGARITA SONG (I DON'T WANNA PLAY) By Dennis J. DeRenzo Copyright 2005
I play the guitar in a little Tiki bar, on the intracoastal waterway, Six nights a week from 5 to 9, and a Sunday mornin’ matinee, I must know the words to a thousand songs, I even know the chords to a few And I do my best to play every request but there’s one song I just won’t do….
(chorus)
I don’t wanna play that margarita song any more, I been playin’ that damn song every night since nineteen seventy four, If I hear it again, it’s gonna drive me insane, So I don’t wanna play that margarita song any more.
The tourists come in with their bright red skin, lookin’ like the tourists do, With a Mickey t-shirt, a sun visor hat, wearin’ shorts with black socks and shoes, They sit down and order up the early bird and I know that it won’t be long, They’ll get up from the bar, put a dollar in my tip jar, and ask for the same damn song…but
(chorus) I don’t wanna play that margarita song any more, I been playin’ that damn song every night since nineteen seventy four, If I hear it again, it’s gonna drive me insane, So I don’t wanna play that margarita song any more.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love a “Jimmy” song, But there’s somethin’ that’s just gotta be said, Just because I’m holding a guitar in my hands, Don’t mean I got a parrot on my head!
So come on down to my little tiki bar on the intercoastal waterway, Have a bite to eat, have a drink or two, listen to me sing and play, I’ll do a little country, a little rock’n’roll, I’ll even doo-wop for you, And I’ll do my best to play your every request, just remember my one little rule,
(chorus) I don’t wanna play that margarita song any more, I been playin’ that damn song every night since nineteen seventy four, If I hear it again, it’s gonna drive me insane, So I don’t wanna play that margarita song any more.

Cardinal in the Snow ©2005 Marian Mastrorilli
Mid-December mornings the landscape has turned bleak Sun won’t break the clouds to melt the ice upon the creek Mercury sinks low, riotous winds blow All around, there’s whiteness on the ground
Strands of colored light blink artificial cheer Strains of Silent Night ring in my ear But things are not so bright anywhere this year Not like yesterday So I pray
I need a thing of beauty A haunting piano line A sudden burst of color Splashed against the sky I need some kind of sign That I have not been beaten A glimpse of the divine To take me back to Eden
Humidifier’s low, blankets piled high Never quite alone, with two cats by my side I wish I could’ve known what would turn the tide I can’t get warm to this new norm
I need a thing of beauty A haunting cello line A sudden burst of color Splashed against the sky I need some kind of sign That I have not been beaten A glimpse of the divine To take me back to Eden
Now right outside my window A cardinal in the snow Casts a flash of fire against the ashen glow The simple scene inspires a single ray of hope Like a Christmas card in my backyard
For it was a thing of beauty Art upon the air Across the grey horizon A flight out of despair Cardinal in the snow Vision made of splendor Take me where you go Make my pain surrender
Cardinal in the snow Vision made of splendor Take me where you go Make my pain surrender Cardinal in the snow Don’t know where you’ll be Find your way back home To your destiny

Never Give Up Your Dream
The oldest people living tell us Dreaming keeps the world together… Hold on…
Sometimes it’s a sweet tsilugi * Sometimes it’s a rainy night Mist rising from the heat of autumn When the nuts fall ripe It could be the snow chest-high and gleaming Or a feather eagle-gold From the tiniest creature to the elders above Got to dream until the Earth grows old Forever…
Hold on to your dream Give it room to fly…
It could be respect and honor Or a tiny hand in yours Could be standin’ on a mountaintop, a Harley or a shiny car— Doesn’t matter, if the dream is yours Sometimes it’s the arms around you To be a family and have close friends It’s the land in bloom, your time to dance So that the dreaming never ends Forever…
Hold on to your dream Give it room to fly
What do the rocks dream? What do the trees say?— Never give up your dream Never give up the sight Never give up your dream— Hold on to the light…

Breathe
When it’s time for something new You feel it like the tide feels the phases of the moon Like springtime, poised to bloom Like butterfly, shedding it’s cocoon
Everything is changing As it should be And you just gotta fly Now you got your wings Trust that they will take you Where you need to be And when you’re feeling anxious Breathe, baby breathe Breathe Breathe Breathe!
Cause it isn’t always easy And it does require strength Embracing the unknown Performing acts of faith But life would not inspire you To take those faithful leaps If it hadn’t first conspired to Provide you with the means
Everything is changing As it should be And you just gotta fly Now you got your wings Trust that they will take you Where you need to be And when you’re feeling anxious Breathe, baby breathe Breathe Breathe Breathe!

'Climb' by Dan Bredesen Genre: Cont. Christian
Chorus: Climb the highest mountain. Swim the deepest sea. Fly to highest Heaven. What are they to thee ? In the deepest forest or the desert bear, There my heart will find you, for You are there.
Verse: With the pain of disappointment, when I feel I've played the fool. Comes the need to doubt your mercy, when I think "Lord, where were you" ? Ev'ry footstep seems a mile, on the road back to my life.
With the beauty of the setting sun, comes the cold and dark of night. Just a few more hours and the Son will bring the light.

Laugh About Later by Jeff Payne © 2002 Jeff Payne
Verse 1: I worked graveyard shifts for many years Come home sometimes my wife in tears But I’d fall asleep before my head would hit the pillow. Some troubles here and some struggles there Sometimes it feels like more than we can bear But through it all, we’ve stood together With the promises of one day it’ll be better.
Chorus: One day we’ll be sittin’ outside our home A beautiful yard with plenty of land for us to roam A waterfall in the scenery Sadie and Cody climbing trees And in my arms my wife, I will take her Cause, now, we’re just making memories we’ll laugh about later
Verse 2: Baby sittin’s just not quite the same As havin’ a child with your last name And so we longed, to start our family The passing days turned into years I can’t tell how many tears have been cried But we realize, a time will come when our desires will be satisfied
Chorus: One day we’ll be standing beside the ocean When sadness of any kind won’t be a notion And we’ll watch our son and daughter Running in and out of the water And in my arms my wife, I will take her Cause, now, we’re just making memories we’ll laugh about later
Bridge: Some times the days can seem to be so tough And all you want to do is just give up But together we’ll make it over that hill Yes, one day, we will …
One day we’ll be sittin’ outside our home A beautiful yard with plenty of land for us to roam And no matter how busy we’ll be that day With our grandchildren we will play And in my arms my wife, I will take her Yes, in my arms my wife, I will thank her Cause, now, we’re just making memories we’ll laugh about later

CORNER OF THE WORLD Daniel Adlerman Copyright 2001
She came from good private stock Corn fed and glowing bright Yes, she could roll and she could rock She'd dance and light up the night
With her movement, time stood still Waiting for her to live her life
Would she be strange? How could she have it all? Would she be a thief, or cop, or maybe someone's wife, or not
You don't have to be complete Expose yourself, your flag unfurled Famous big or popular Start with just your corner of the world
He was from some far away place No future in his eyes Desperately aware of his space You wouldn't tell him twice
With a whispered thought The earth stood still as he made his plans
Would he be strange? How could he have it all? A beggar, priest, or athlete, or maybe sell used cars
You don't have to be complete Expose yourself, your flag unfurled Famous big or popular Start with just your corner of the world
Would we be strange?

Great Expectations copyright 2005 gethoppyproductions written by Justin Hopkins
There's a lot to say, when you don't have forever There's a stutter on my lips, thats never been there before Cuz I heard the word, that love's not easy and I don't believe it, not from what I know now
You feel good on my Skin, when I hold you And I'm warm on my heart, cuz you're on my mind and it feels right here in this bed, while we lay here breathing, why do we try love?
I've never known, something so easy. as trying to love you, in spite of yourself but with every new kiss, there is something missing though that we'd be growing, not falling apart
But you still Feel Good on my skin, when I hold you and darling I'm warm in my heart, cuz you're on my mind But we're awake in this bed, while we lay here, thinking why do we try love?
so don't tell me I'm fine. just a second too late, to watch it fall down. and I'll pretend you're mine one last time, cuz you go with fire...
well I heard through the window, that you left open you were laughing and I heard, you call him sweetheart least twice. well I'm not afraid that you'll come home tomorrow. hell I've already lost you, no need to think twice.
I'm sure you'll feel Good on his skin, when he holds you and I hope he's warm in his heart, cuz you're on his mind Well I'll be right here in this bed, while I lay here, thinking, why do we try love? why do we try love?

Praying for Rain
(c) 2005 by Mark Houghtaling
Sun shines. Grass grows. Tell your son. Tell your daughter. Life is simple as a drink of water; Better start praying for rain, Better start praying for rain.
Towns boom. Trees fall. All around us the world gets hotter. Times I'd kill for just a drink of water; Better start praying for rain.
But we forget: to be kind And we forget: to tread lightly No need to hold so tightly, Burn so brightly....
Men shout. Mothers weep. Keep on counting sheep to slaughter. Wake up dying for a drink of water, Better start praying for rain, Better start praying for rain.
We can remember: to be kind We can remember: to tread lightly No need to hold so tightly, Breathe....
Sun shines. Grass grows. Tell your son. Tell your daughter. Life is simple as a drink of water. Better start praying for rain, Better start praying for rain, Better start praying, Praying for rain.
