Hi,

I've been singing for years,And I am not good at it,I wont ever be great but I would
some day like to retain the same key throughout an entire song. does anyone have any ideas for dealing with intonation problems. I and my listeners would be grateful.

Here are some ideas:

Get a chromatic guitar tuner, and sing notes, trying to make the needles stay straight up and down.

Play ramdom notes on a keyboard or guitar and sing to match them. Try playing a quarter note, then singing a quarter note.

Sing along with cd's, keep the cd volume down so you can hear your voice.

Sing scales, sing the "Do, a Deer, a Female Deer" song from Sound of Music. Sing the Christmas tune "Joy to the World" these are songs that include every note of the scale, yet they are "musical." It's like typing: The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog. You type all the letters of the alphabet, but you are typing words.

Sing chord notes...play a chord on the guitar or keyboard, then sing the notes one at a time.

Whistle a random note, then sing it, you hear them differently.

Learn to listen to your voice, sing long slow notes, sing as long as you can on one note, concentrate on listening to your voice. A lot of people don't like to listen to their own voice, which gives them trouble singing in tune, you've got to hear your voice to sing in tune. You won't hear it if you don't listen to it.
