I have a Groove Tubes MD1a Tube Mic. I'm looking to sell it. Original retail price on the mic was $1300. It includes the mic, a hard shell travel case, a shock mount with a pop screen, the power supply and the cable for the mic to the power supply.

This is a really great mic. But I've purchased a Nuemann and cannot afford to keep the Groove Tubes. I will let it go for $800.

Jody, what is the difference between the MD1a and the MD1b?

The MD1b retails at $699 and sells for under $500 new.

Larry, check with Myles @ techsupport@groovetubes.com. He'll be able to tell you definitively what the differences are, and any advantage one would have over the other.
He won't blow smoke.

Larry, my mic is a much older version. It has a different "body" to the sound. The retail price on the new one is less than what mine was. I think the power supply used to be extra. I think they now include it.

You can also talk to Jimmy, he's the one who I've dealt with. He knows alot about the GT line and won't blow smoke either. You could also talk to Rick. They all know me very well and will be able to tell you about it.

I'm sad about letting it go, but I do need to pay for the new Mic. I will contact GT to find out what the mic is really worth so I know what to really ask for it.

I talked to Rick at Groove Tubes today. Found out the mic was worth more than I thought. So I revised the price.

As far as differences, I'm guessing the older model was made under better conditions and probably has a better response pattern.

Anyway, if you're interested contact me. But you might want to do it quick as Rick told me he gets requests for this mic all the time and they don't have them anymore. So I could be getting a call from GT in the next couple of days when they have someone ask.

Good luck with the sales Jody. If I had the bread I'd get that mic from you. I do know it's a great mic. I just didn't know what the difference between the two versions were.
