Hey all, I am a guitarist (6 string variety) and am contemplating learning pedal steel...I see this Carter beginners model for about $699... here's a link... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/search/src=00631/g=guitar/detail/base_id/45938 Is this a good enough PSG for someone like me? I play mostly lap steel and hawaiian style acoustic guitar - so mine don't have any pedals. The key here is does the Carter have the sound that you want? Mail order - you obviously can't hear it until it arrives - check out Carter's own website at http://www.steelguitar.com/ there's a link for sound files. I'll bet this is a great instrument anyway, and the price seems right at Musician's Friend - I'd go for it.
