Hi All, I just found out that my song "If You Only Knew" was chosen as a "Top Pick" on tonos.com. http://tonos2.infopop.net/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=531090022&f=233098038&m=7613019107 The irony in this is that just this same week I found out that I did not make it as a finalist in the Orange County Music Awards (and I am also going to the JPF awards show tonight in which I'm not nominated.) It just goes to show that you win some and you lose some. I am learning in this life that there is a direct correlation between perseverance and success. We as musicians must always keep that in mind and write and play because we love it and not worry about the rest! In fact, the more successful we become the more critisism we will most likely encounter- just read a few reviews of famous bands and artists in the newspaper each week! So, keep on keeping on! Marla, I got a chance to listen to your song, and it's a very cool tune! Hope you make the final cut! You are very talented and deserve it.
BTW, I submitted a song to that listing, too, but (*sniff*) didn't make it.
You need any lyrics? I do a lot of CCM, got a bunch of lyric awards this last year.

Michael, Thanks for all your comments and for listening. One thing I really don't like about Tonos is that you can only submit one song at a time. I chose "If You Only Knew" because they were looking for an upbeat R&B or pop sounding song. That was the one on my CD that seemed to fit that the most. I actually have one that is going on my next CD that is very gospel/R&B. I don't write many songs like that and singing it is going to be a big stretch! Speaking of my next CD, yes I am always looking for great CCM lyrics. I cowrote two songs with JPF member Amelia Rose that are going to be on the CD (she wrote all the lyrics and I wrote the melody) and I wrote another one with a friend of mine. I have been sent some other lyrics by various people but for whatever reason, I just choose the ones that grab me. I have seen your work though and I am totally open to collaborating! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Do you only write lyrics? Keep "pressing on!" No, I write both lyrics and music, but lyrics are definitely my strong point. Maybe I should say, music is my weakness. I finally figured out how to upload some files, so if you're curious, you can listen to some of my tunes here: http://aol.tonos.com/easyhero I put a few things up, just temporarily. They're not very good, production-wise, just me 'n' the guitar, except for the first one, which is sung by a friend, Missy Orr. That one took third place in the Dallas Songwriters Association competition in the Christian/Inspirational category. Guitar's out of tune, but Missy makes up for it. Anyway, it's all very folky, but let me know what you think if you get a chance to listen. Michael
