Hello everyone. First of all, this post is a big step for me. Much of what I have written (well, ok all of what I have written) has been locked up tight in a vault until recently. I decided (with some prodding from my family) to pursue a career as a lyricist. I have some poems and lyrics saved up. So, I am writing in hopes of receiving some advice from those of you with any experience in the music industry. I live in the Atlanta area and am looking for a way to get my foot in the door.
Here's hoping...

hi Pam, i am a nobody in the music industry but i do write and you should not be embarrassed at all about what you right (if that is it) because it is an extension of you and how you feel at the moment in your life. that is what makes each piece it's own work of art. i write metal, easy listening, country and even some rap. i enjoy playing fast country most but if you write because it relaxes you then let it out. expect that some people will not like it, as i am sure you don't like every type of music that is played. remember also if it sounds like something already out there it will probably get looked over. so it is better to be different. i think it is great that you are taking this step. good luck to you. tim

Tim, Thanks very much for the encouragement. I already feel somewhat successful. I have decided that I'd like to pursue writing, I have joined a few websites, and I have started to keep a portfolio of my work. I try to write a little everyday, and I am enjoying every minute of my new "hobby/career/dream chasing" whatever. Thanks again, the encouragement helps! Pam
