You have to be registered to be told what you have read and haven't read. I notice you haven't registered, so the system has no idea who you are, or if you have ever been to the site before. That is a key point behind registering. When you do, you see lit light bulbs when there are posts you haven't read.

question....Ya know how it asks whether
you want your email address to show on posts
in the profile section? Are any of them
showing? or is that a small bug in the program....looks like most are checked
to be shown.(but are they?)......Maybe I'm not looking
in the right place..... but I went in and
checked a couple....to email a few folks...
and all that I checked said Not available, including My Own.... Thanks for taking
the time to read this.

Kaley, Great question. It isn't a bug that keeps the email addresses from showing. That is intentional right now. We wanted to see what the reaction would be either way (i.e. if people wanted the email to show up or not). I will probably turn that on when we announce the boards to the entire group (which we haven't done yet in the newsletter.) You are the first to even comment on it, so perhaps no one cares either way. So far, there are ZERO glitches that I am aware of and we seem to have gotten the boards set up correctly. Thanks Brian, this looks pretty cool. Was glad to see Kaley's question and your reply. I was stunned to read profiles and see no one who felt safe?? posting their e-mail. After all, most of us already did that on the old board. Not sure I understand these icons either. Guess I'll keep trying.

Brian, I'm all for access to email addresses, we all used it a lot previously for discussions on a one to one basis. The board is working well..... wonder who'll be the first to try putting their picture on display.

The system stores it so it can be automatically posted with your messages. The boards are normally set up to block anyone NOT registered from posting anything, like a membership. We wanted to encourage any and everyone to post, so we took off that restriction. However my opinion is that if someone really wants to be part of the community, they should register. (After all, the info given is minimal.) The Casual Observer name changes after a certain number posts by someone. You'll just have to keep posting to see when and what.
