Hi Musica, nice to meet you. Very nice vocals! I'm enjoying listening to Don't Want to Dance right now. I like the chord progression & how the music moves. The 'and I don't wanna dance no more' repeated before the chorus feels like it stops us from getting to the chorus. But when you get there I really like it. I assume you are pitching yourself as an artist. I find Bob Baker a good resource for inspiration & marketing - www.thebuzzfactor.com You posted your music on-line without a bio, where you're from, and without your name. That's totally up to you but (c)-wise I'd encourage you to identify the songwriter & producer. You should also look at myspace. If you have an album, check out CDBAby for marketing. hope that helps a little - welcome aboard, cheers Hummin'bird ------------------ Vikki Flawith, Canadian Singer/Songwriter & Voice Teacher Vikki on Soundclick Vikki on MySpace My ZaNy cRaZy Blog Sample my *F*O*L*K* CD

Dear Musica: I don't know where you are, but you might want to check out a new tip sheet called Songbridge. The web coordinates are www.songbridge.com and the woman who runs it is very good. I'd reccommend you ahve a look at it. Where are you from, anyway? ------------------ Terry Don't worry too much about life. You'll never get out alive. http://www.soundclick.com/terryfernihough

That is the one. Sorry about that. It's still a relatively new tip sheet, but the buzz I'm hearing stateside is that the only major one for guys like us is Rowfax, done by Music Row magazine. Lately, I'm hearing that it isn't as good as it used to be, but since I've never used it, I don't know. The key to getting ahead seems to be cowriting, and networking. Depending on where you are, that might be difficult, but there are ways. Joining NSAI is something I would reccommend, and they have a very good chapter in Toronto. The coordinators there are Dan McVeigh and Laura Ranieri. If you go to either of their websites or my MySpace page, I can put you in touch with them. Although I haven't been as active as I intended to be, I have done some collaboration over the internet with people I've met here. It's not the same as writing together in the same room, but have a listen to the cowrites I have on my soundclick page. They are "One Way Road", and "Dancing Fish Cafe". Online or long distance phone collaboration is better than not doing any. Let me know what you think after you check things out, and let me know where you are. I might be able to introduce you to some people in your area. ------------------ Terry Don't worry too much about life. You'll never get out alive. http://www.soundclick.com/terryfernihough

Originally posted by musica: Hi Terry. That web site didn't work for me. Do you mean http://www.thesongbridge.com/ ? Have you ever had any success stories out of that resource? It's nice that it's Canadian, but it looks pretty new and the same is a bit short. I'm just wondering if it's going to present as many opportunities and ideas as more established pitch sheets.

I have just started a publishing company looking for country and pop/rock songs. I'd love to hear some of your stuff. Right now, we're building a catalog. See details on www.screamingtom.com good luck!

I was sorry to hear someone had troubles reaching myself or Jana at Songbridge. We did have troubles a while back, but I thought this had all been fixed. Please give us a second chance! Our pitch sheet is growing and we now offer songwriters the opportunity to 'pay per pitch' and it's been a great success! I ask that you email me directly at my Yahoo address kathysmit@yahoo.ca or to Jana at jreid7@sympatico.ca and we'll deal personally with your questions. Again, we apologize for this ... we are good business people but sometimes technology lets us down...so please email us and we'll make sure you get the right answers! Jana's interview this week at Songbridge is with Charlie Major so drop by to read this candid interview. Looking forward to hearing from you. Interested in hearing from other Canadian songwriters, and especially interested if you've had pitching successes in spite of being so far away from the big centers (NY, Nashville and LA). [This message has been edited by kathy@songbridge (edited 10-17-2006).]
