Are you asking if the contest is legit? I'm sure it is. Just look who is on their judging panel. Some pretty big names. If you're going to enter you better hurry. Deadline is November 7th.

I just received an unsolicited E-mail from the Great American Contest. I have entered before but will pass this time. They must be begging for songs so it may be a good time to enter. Don't know how they got my E-mail.

Thier e-mail was also unsolicited by me but I have submitted to the NSAI annual contest in the past so maybe theres a connect. And you do have a point the fewer the entrants the less competition.I personaly just want to get material out there in front of those judges and industry execs. Al

Al, Very good! I tried it out last year. Submitted 3 songs, one instrumental and two "full" songs complete with lyrics and vocals. They fullfilled all their promises and I received some great feedback from the judges; even won a "finalist" on one of my songs! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) I was impressed with their song critique report which was very thorough and complete, and the judge even took the time to show me how to improve my songs where appropriate. That was more than I got from Unisong. I also won a "finalist" through them, but got NO feedback or ratings at all from them, which was a bit dissapointing! It would be a nice accomplishment to recieve a 1st place prize, and even a 2nd or 3rd place would still be quit an honor. I'm not sure if this would be the best way to "shop" a song, but still maybe a nice way to network and perhaps get some positive and constructive feedback on your best song writes. I don't think you'll be dissapointed. Best wishes for success! Michael P.S. I'm thinking of sending in 3 songs again this year. Time is running out, so I will have to "hop" on this right away! I just check my entry form and the deadline *is* November 7th this year. ------------------ Not perfect... just forgiven! [This message has been edited by Michael Borges (edited 10-26-2002).]

Michael, Thanks for the feedback.Im getting some good positive response on this and yours is the best yet since you actully placed.I also like the idea of the professional critique well worth the investment not to mention the experience. I also noticed that your from the Lake Elsinor area.I grew up in the east burbs of Los Angeles and have had some good times in your neck of the woods.Best to you...Al

Thanks Al, A couple of days ago I sent in 7 songs for this year's "Great American" song contest! They guarantee a full evaluation (report) on all song entries by at least one judge, as long as you provide a self addressed envelope for each song entry; which is not that hard to do. The catagories I've submitted to this year include: CC/Gospel, Special Music (i.e. Christmas & Easter music), and one each for their Children's and Instrumental category. I hope to get feedback by around the end of January or at latest by the middle of February. I've entered all new songs that have been written after last year's entry. I'll be sure to report any favorable outcome on one of these JPF boards! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Take care pal! Michael [This message has been edited by Michael Borges (edited 10-31-2002).]
