So true Tony. I remember a time I didn't see my Dad for 10 years, and I was pleasantly surprised how much he had learnt in that time. Sorry Dak. I had meant to paste Scott's piece in here so you could read it again but had already hit the send message button. Must have been all that champagne. 24 bottles? Ok seriously , I'll behave now. You are just too nice a guy to tease like this, but I bet you're really cute when you blush... As far as jumping to conclusions yes I think everyone's probably guilty of that at one time or another. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Me #1 But you're right that although it takes some effort , it would help to stand back and look at what a person is really trying to say & not just our first reaction to it. Esp . if it's a negative one. There is sometimes a lot of "stuff" between the lines and tons of abbreviated words, which can get totally mistaken for something else..Thanks Scott, you really know how to cut through the jargon..& put things in perspective..a talent in itself ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Sue

LOL. Glad you liked that one. I stole it from the old Irish Mother's letter to her son joke where she says: PS. I was going to put five pounds in this for you but had already sealed the envelope. Graham ------------------ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/grahamhenderson_music.htm

Howdy!
You guys are a hoot!
I guess if you're over 40 you must be right, not to mention funny. Don't fight over the scraps of the dead body this was originally posted for. I wouldn't want you to gag or anything...
Going back a few entries.
Dear Dak, everyone is looking for love and respect. It just doesn't meet your criteria, in this case, your mood, and that seems to justify just telling someone to grow up. Seven months, eleven months, whatever. Maybe his Mom died, and you don't know it....
So, just sit there and be right.

Next!!!! </font> Had nothing to do with my mood at the time, or being right, nor does it now. It is simply my opinion. You have yours and I have mine. The critiques on that thread, IMHO, were really pretty easy on the guy. That's not to say it wasn't mean at the time, because there were edits and there is no way to prove or disprove it. With that in mind, I come again to the time frame. Had the critique been that hard and personally directed, it should have been addressed at the time, not seven months later. You mentioned raywithrow being a new member. No, the guy has been a member since February of 2005. That's plenty of time to "learn the ropes" here so I don't consider that new. New would, in my view, be someone with less than, say, three months here. Even then, that's enough time to see what's going on here and what kind of place it is. You can look at the world through rose colored glasses if you'd like but, Johnboy, we ain't the Waltons and this ain't Walton's Mountain. ------------------ Miltenberger Homes [This message has been edited by Dak Lander (edited 09-04-2006).]

Just reading along.... My my my my my. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) I LOVE THAT LETTER!! Does anyone have a copy of the full text? I had it almost memorized at one point. Used to make my whole family roll on the floor laughing! Another line: "We can't afford a new suit [for your little brother], so we'll get him a new hat and let him look out the window." Ok on to finish reading the thread. I must say, this forum IS mostly flame-free. Seriously. Everyone I've met so far has been very friendly and supportive. I think the world is a lot what you make of it. looking for it, I typed An Irish Mother's letter into my browser and it came up with a page full of them. So far I haven't read what I consider the original, and funniest. All I saw had been tampered with and badly. It may be there though. And yep. I is a good read when done right. Graham ------------------ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/grahamhenderson_music.htm

Yep. Having an eye out as well as a nose out of joint on the one post would be less than nice I am sure. Sure do hope all this carry on doesn't attract them carrion crows you are raven' about though. Bloke would feel a right galah being sightless from a slight oversight of caution I am sure. Graham ------------------ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/grahamhenderson_music.htm

Howdy!
Lainey, such hilarious laughter for a middle aged gal who should have empathy, definitely low brow, and definitely out of character for someone who has some musical depth. I guess musical depth does not equate to depth of character. Welcome to Jr High!
Dak, you are so sharp, the play off Walton's Mountain. I am not impressed. But you are right about one thing. The world. The world is a place full of people who are a--holes. I use more restraint and consideration for those who might be looking for empathy. I guess we know what we need to know. God forbid you have reproduced and raised kids with the same lack of consideration for other people's feelings. That's all we are talking about here. Someone Else's feelings. Not your feelings. Not how you felt about the guy. Not that you felt that he needed a gut check. Pull your head out long enough to take a deep breath of fresh air that doesn't smell like you.
Then again don't, apparently you are happy being inconsiderate. Karma is coming back on you Dude. Good Luck!
There is a time and a place to tell someone that they need to handle it, On that I agree. But if someone is breaking down and asking you for a little understanding, then you should give it.
I don't know anything about the guy, nor do I know you, But I do know that the case needs to be made for case sensitive response in human behaviorism. This is a classic case of a guy who needed someone to say I understand. Too many dicks in the soup. Pull yours out before it scolds.
Grow up and grasp it. It is on the forefront of human behaviorism training. We don't need more dicks and Dutch Uncles, we need more people with hearts.
Just because many people in the music bizz tend toward cutting your nutts off, doesn't mean that you cut a guy's nutts off just because you deem it fair. Get a clue, get a heart, get a life.

Hey Johnboy:
The thing I've always admired about you (beyond your musical talent) is that I could always find you on the high road.
I think you slipped off it in your previous post....

Good morning Johnboy, First off let me thank you for reminding me about being middle aged, I actually had a birthday a month ago, and thought I was a year older than I really am, (must be senility creeping in) but you really made my day ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) but honestly, Jr. High?, go on with you now.. My depth of character? Well, I dont know how old you are but the older I get, it becomes more important, essential, and in a social sense more critical; to include a sense of humor, along with empathy and respect for my fellow human beings. Thank you for acknowledging the latter in regards to my music... If you've read anything else about me, my life's work has been with the elderly, in both a medical and musical aspect, which has taught me more about Humor & life than any book ever will..Enough about old folk... If you were to ask anyone who knows me really well, they would tell you I spent the first half of my life being very serious, and unhappy; with good reason that I wont get into here. Just thought I'd defend my new found middle-aged sense of humor. Maybe if we're around that long when I'm in my 60's ; you can say to me "Sue , welcome to elementary school" It is Sept 6th today. Ray's post was put up on Sept 1st. by the 2nd page, Sept 4, he still hadnt responded after his quick exit & goodbye on 9/2 If you had read my responses in a non-judgmental way, you'd have seen I actually spoke in defense of one NOT over-reacting when feeling "threatened or insulted" by anothers reply or critique.. To take a step back & think before jumping in. You are judging peoples character here for having their own opinions ; and for having some good clean fun. The joking & fun were not at Rays expense...Ray chose not to be here.....why isnt he speaking up for himself?, why are you taking it so personally? Nobody was killed here and nobody cuts his nuts off...he chose to let MS Snippity do that ..... I like you Johnboy,,when you're not judging others.......SUE oh almost forgot [This message has been edited by laineytunes@yahoo.com (edited 09-06-2006).]

As it should be, and would have been, had the complaint been made when the alleged offense occured.
I don't know anything about the guy, nor do I know you,
That's the most logical thing you've written to this point. But I do know that the case needs to be made for case sensitive response in human behaviorism. This is a classic case of a guy who needed someone to say I understand.
It's apparent you still haven't checked on the timeframe, nor did you read the critiques. It doesn't take seven months for a person's feelings to get hurt. That happens immediately. By the way, how would you know it's a "classic case"? Oh, yeah, you're an accredited Physcologist.
Too many dicks in the soup. Pull yours out before it scolds.
Resorting to name calling now? tsk tsk. Scolds what, pray tell? Grow up and grasp it.
Oh, I grasp it alright. It is, quite apparant that you do not. It is on the forefront of human behaviorism training.
Just what is on the forefront of human behaviorism? You really haven't made yourself clear on that point. We don't need more dicks and Dutch Uncles, we need more people with hearts.
Ah, more name calling. Just because many people in the music bizz tend toward cutting your nutts off, doesn't mean that you cut a guy's nutts off just because you deem it fair.
No one, including me, deemed anything to be fair. The one fact of life that really stands out and you should get a grasp of is; Live is not fair. Get a clue, get a heart, get a life.
Thank you, I have a clue, I have a heart and someday I may even get a life. But, in the meantime I'll waste time responding to your inane defense of a person you don't know and an issue you did not research, as well your personal attacks on me, ie name calling. </font> ------------------ Miltenberger Homes [This message has been edited by Dak Lander (edited 09-06-2006).]

"Pull your d**k out of the soup before it SCOLDS?" I think the appropriate word there should be SCALDS. Although, come to think of it, mine has scolded me on occasion. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif)
