Divisive topics have pretty much been dropped on this site. Currently the only person repetitively drilling politics and Donald Trump is Rob. Why dont you take that to a site designed for it and stick with benign topics here?
ezpz.
But you can't. Well, honestly… it's been quite a while since I mentioned Trump in a song. Your claim that the only person repetitively drilling Donald Trump is Rob is simply false. Look at this thread and "Where Did The Music Go", Sunset. Who keeps bringing Trump into the discussion? Not me! By your own reasoning, shouldn't you be the one taking these political arguments to a site designed for them and sticking to benign topics here? 😉 You accuse me of being unable to leave politics alone, while you keep returning to the subject yourself. See the irony?

Irony?
I don't initiate political posts. I respond to them when I see them If they dont show up, that doesnt happen.
The irony, if there is any, is that you want to clutter this site with them freely, yet want to govern how I respond to them.

Sorry you and your friends could not compartmentalize the situation and speak objectively ....not sure I could either if I was so immersed and invested as the both of you
But sometimes these things have to be discussed. Silence is not an option. People have to stand up sometimes and express their disagreement.
Perhaps you take my disagreement with things this administration as a personal attack on you dunno...but it is not. The fact you voted and support him is entirely your right and business and frankly does not matter a wit in the big picture. You only had one vote that was added to others. Not voting at all is worse IMO.
You mentioned you do like a good political debate. So do I. Especially with those I disagree with because it sharpens thinking...and occasionally minds are changed when cogent arguments are made. I will remind you that you changed my mind on the need for your second amendment.
But somewhere along the way all points expressed disapproval were simply dismissed by you as TDS. Not even examined. No matter what happened. Your central pillar of support seems to be border security and crime...and anything sacrificed on that altar has become excusable to you...or so it appears to me. Totally willing to be convinced I am wrong.
Then as the situation became progressively worse as this administration's actions and rhetoric roiled the world, things became more heated here as we rebelled against US actions.
Now you want to shut that all down here because it interferes with your sense of what this site should be like.
I agree it would be nice if there was 100% focus on lyrics, songs, collaborations, honest critiques etc....this site was once like that and it was of great benefit to me.
But the world has changed. We are all vibrant, creative, smart and very much aware of it all. We cannot help but notice and respond to significant events as they unfold.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Not accurate. I've stated multiple times that I don't like every thing that Trump does.
I don't dismiss every complaint against him as TDS. It's patterning. When I see someone coming onto a songwriter site over and over again, all amped up about what Rachel Maddow said the night before, throwing around words like "fascist," oblivious to any facts that may tell the rest of the story, and displaying what looks like a neuroticized obsession...at the expense of cohesiveness on a songwriting forum, I consider that TDS.
In my view, Rob is that pattern.
As for you, not so much. At one time you seemed to fit it, but in the wake of your apology to Whitney for whatever you may have done to contribute to the divisions here and your absence from most of the political aingst here of late...I see you as a different personality than Rob.
Rob has a burning obsession to bring his truth about Trump et al to this songwriter site. Even if Ben and I and others don't want to see it here. It "makes Rob happy."
When I see it, depending on mood and available time, I like to speak to it.

I explained before he does this because overwhelmingly, thats his best chance at somebody replying, I don't even look for replies any more. Knowing that people here and most sites prefer politics, in his mind, he wrote a good song if it brings people to the thread. I disagree Ben doesn't want politics, if its himself talking about he's fine with it. Everybody has an angle for attention. He will undoubtedly take nore reviews here as a success. Notice how nobody talks about the song here, thats cause their main interest is politics. Threads like this are just a disguised political thread

Threads like this are just a disguised political thread So, you think that Rob doesn't post all this stuff because he is inflamed with a desire to take down the Trump admin...but sees it as a vehicle to bring clicks to his stuff? Maybe he will clarify.. As for Ben, agreed, he changes jerseys from one day to the next. I caught him on a day when he was full-on anti-political.

Rob writes so many song's so fast, that when I see another, I cant even click it.i know its not good. Not much time left in the Trump admin. But I dont think he believes he will sway anyone, I believe he knows that nothing attracts a crowd, like a crowd. Just wish hed spend nore time in writing something good. This could actually make people support Trump

You guys think you know me. I'm sorry to say, you don't.
Some of you seem to believe you can determine my personality, my motives, and my political views from the songs I write and the things I post here. You can't.
I showed some of these posts to my wife. She laughed and said, "That's not you. They have no idea who you really are."
She's right.
I write songs when I'm happy and when I'm sad. I write songs when I read something in the newspaper, see something on TV, or come across an idea that catches my attention. Sometimes I write about life, sometimes about people, sometimes about the world around me. That's what songwriters do. We take inspiration from all kinds of things.
A song isn't a complete picture of the person who wrote it. And disagreeing with someone doesn't give you the right to tell them who they are or what their motives must be.
The personal judgments and accusations I've seen here lately have taken much of the enjoyment out of participating in this forum. I came here because I love writing songs, sharing ideas, exchanging feedback, and collaborating with other talented people. Fortunately, I've built some wonderful relationships with songwriters here and elsewhere, and I'll continue to write and collaborate with them.
For the time being, it's time for me to move on from this website.
I wish those who enjoy the forum all the best. I hope it continues to be a place where you guys can share their music, collaborate, exchange ideas, and treat one another with respect, even when they disagree.
Take care, everyone.
