I wrote this music and lyrics. It's wholly my melody line, story, progression, idea, direction, genre, key, time signature.....produced using a.i. tools, to include the singer. But everything else, I created. Sooooo....is this melody line mine? It's distinct. You could argue whether it's a lovely melody or even memorable. But do I own it? I've had the melody, progression in my head and it ended up something that almost always gets worked into my "work out" wank fest warm up. I've always loved it. I married it with some lyrics, uploaded the guitar part/stem to SUNO and created this operatic pop song around it. Soooo.......(Ben et al)....does it qualify as legally mine or just more a.i. shite??
Can I promote it as an original piece as such, giving SUNO their production and "artist" nod?
It's an evolving legal question but SUNO is tightening up their game and attempting to separate the wheat from the chaff while promoting "legit" music. Is this legit? Ya know, more and more I feel A.I. assisted music does more to expose perhaps the racket run by corporate music for decades. 4 notes gave "Close Encounters" it's musical identity. And a most memorable song created around it, that remains in most boomer's heads today. Made millions. Awards. A percentage for life of the movie sales. 4 notes!

These fertile fields are filled aplenty,
a mountain hides behind her gain,
where lived a man who lost his lover
to the mountain that bears her name.

She started up, bitter cold and early,
longed to see the sun rise there,
where it's said the sun paints the valley
all the colors blue to red.

Darkness fell, there came a silence,
he listened long for her sweetest call,
none would come, months turned colder,
a sadness he could not resolve.

(short piano solo w/cello harmony)

for a year he tried to find her,
took his life upon her peak,
was it Sophia, or the grim reminder
of the colors she'd never see.

He used to come to Sophie's place
where the sun paints wide the valley floor
colors splashing on the mountain face,
only made her dream about them more.

The chastened fields now flat and barren
once filled with abundant grain,
a distant peak, an aging headstone,
sits a mountain that bears her name.

From my ear, I hear 4/4 time through whole song.

It sounds great, im not sure its a great song.

Its solid, kinda gets boring as it goes on, in my opinion anyway.

But it does motivate me to get more involved with suno.

I'd say, if its your melody and music, its absolutely yours, you cant copyright an arrangement or chord progression or production.

So I don't think there's any concern at all, you own this song.

No, I get it...the piano, cello refrain is a bit longer than it needs to be. I appreciate the listen.

Great poetic sweep. Fab tribute w movie like grandeur. You provide the bear bones, suno the dramatic arrangement.

Thank you, Bill. Yeah, We create music in the gray area. A lot of us do who now use a.i. tools.
Personally, how is it different than paying 5-10000 k for studio time and professional musicians who will never get the song exactly how you imagined it?....yet the clock's running. Costs rising. Most of us are lyric writers first and perhaps can pound the keys or strum the strings....but what a better way to showcase a lyricist. It will distinguish the Suno wheat from the abundant chaff that is currently being stripped away from streaming music platforms and booted off SUNO. And Thank God for that. So much crap but soooo many good songwriters on these sites, too. Really good. But even those who write, play, record and then upload their own stems, key, melody, progression, time, idea and all the particulars as they've envisioned for that song into SUNO, they aren't considered any different than those who are peddling fully generated a.i. garbage. Especially in the eyes of those who've paid their dues in the music industry. An industry, unfortunately that will have to embrace this technology and legit songwriters at some point.

Does not cost $10,000 , maybe a grand and your the artist . not sure what you can do with a suno song . Forums I guess. They do flood the market like Spotify, apple ect with fake artist songs . Who knows maybe 10,000 a day loaded in platforms , Fake names like Joe Friday ,
