Everybody on TV is talking about the ceasefire in the Middle East, which is a good thing. But the strange thing is… nobody seems to be ceasing fire. Missiles still fly, headlines still call it peace, and everybody claims victory. It’s absurd. Sad. Confusing. I tried to capture that contradiction in this lyric. The Great Ceasefirehttps://soundclick.com/song/15251120Verse Breaking news at 2 a.m. Another “peace” on CNN Smoke still rising from the shore But they say we’re at war no more Verse A handshake written in disappearing ink Everybody talks, does anybody think? Missiles lighting up the screen While diplomats say “mostly clean” Pre-chorus One side tweets “won” One side counts graves One side redraws the maps again One side fans the flames Chorus The Great Ceasefire But nobody ceases fire Everybody says “peace” As the flames climb higher Whoa-oh-oh Wave the white flag higher Whoa-oh-oh The Great Ceasefire Verse Lebanon - or maybe not Depends on who just took the shot Tankers drifting through the strait Pay the toll or test your fate Verse Two more weeks turns into months Truth gets buried in the dust Everybody plays pretend Till the next attack begins Pre-chorus One side tweets “won” One side counts graves One side redraws the maps again One side fans the flames Chorus The Great Ceasefire But nobody ceases fire Everybody says “peace” As the flames climb higher Whoa-oh-oh Wave the white flag higher Whoa-oh-oh The Great Ceasefire Bridge Who’s making the deals while the bombers still fly? Who’s holding the cards while the whole world asks why? Everybody wants credit, nobody knows the cost History’s never seen a ceasefire this lost Final chorus The Great Ceasefire But nobody ceases fire Everybody says “peace” As the flames climb higher Whoa-oh-oh Wave the white flag higher Whoa-oh-oh The Great Ceasefire Outro The Great Ceasefire But nobody ceases fire

Cathartic Rob I am sure...but I am not sure it is lyric material...not sure if anyone really wants to hear it this way.
There may be an angle that works, but I'm not sure this is it
Perhaps an allegory....don't know how to stop when we start?
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Perhaps an allegory....don't know how to stop when we start? So you mean something more like this... The Great Ceasefirehttps://suno.com/song/0bf83412-8b32-4f35-bf60-0f8e57206f23Verse We said “enough” at 2 a.m. Turned off the lights, turned off the blame But smoke still hanging in the room Like broken words we can’t undo Verse A handshake written down in disappearing ink We say we’re fine - does anybody think? Cold eyes glowing in the dark Two matches waiting for a spark Pre-Chorus One side says “done” One side keeps score One side closes every door One side tries to restart the war Chorus The Great Ceasefire But nobody ceases fire Everybody says “peace” While the flames climb higher Whoa-oh-oh Wave the white flag higher Whoa-oh-oh The Great Ceasefire Verse Every conversation bends Back to where the damage ends You say stop, I say fine Then we cross another line Verse Two more weeks, another round Love gets buried underground We hold each other like a threat And call it compromise instead Chorus Bridge Who’s making the rules when nobody can win? Who’s keeping the scars underneath the skin? Everybody wants mercy, nobody wants loss History repeats when the lines stay crossed Chorus

The poetry of the first entry works, references to CNN,"two weeks", the strait, making it contemporarily clear. Years from now it might require explanation. The musical treatment almost slips over into a relationship song, the 'conflict' typical of romantic involvement. It works with the Chorus repeats. I'm enjoying them both.
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

I think the music does not suit here for a ceasefire, and the allegory needs something slower and evocative. Salvaged this from what I saw as "too poppy" for what I understood you wanted to say
Said “enough” at 2 a.m. Back to back we shouldered blame Our smoke smouldering in the room Among broken words we can’t undo
Handshakes in disappearing ink We're fine we say beyond the brink Where all our conversations bend Back to where they all begin
then addressing the topic off handed while embroiled in your own story here I am going for callously casual
Coffee and headlines and morning amends A new day just brimming with promise They're calling for peace and ceasefires again And look there's a sale it's enormous
Thank you for the .wav file . Saw my daughter perform Senator Fipp in Urinetown this afternoon. She is a gifted singer, dancer and actress who thrives there. Smart enough to have used her high school music theatre major to end up teaching high school sciences here. She performed throughout her highschool and university years and since then as well.
Getting back to the video and wav received and looks fine. I now have to go back and mess with timings and effects and I learned new things crafting this project.

I just added music to the initial lyric. I really kind of like this. Phil Collins played the drums here, lol. https://soundclick.com/song/15251120

Do you know you Alpa Males and your pissing contests cost me 80 bucks yesterday at Wallys Gas . If I make it to the Indian Reservation here , it's a dollar cheaper , Cuz the Indians are screwing the white man in the Casinos . Don't tell me it's the end of the world ? Nope just another fight in the sandbox . Come on over white devils , we love you. https://rrrc.com

Perhaps an allegory....don't know how to stop when we start? Cathartic...or neurotic? I see this as the latter. Lib drivel rehashed from MSNOW, the night before. I can see Rachel Maddow staring up at the top of the TV screen right now like a carnival barker, in a blatantly staged attempt to look exasperated, trying to incite the emotions of people ignorant enough to believe the worst propagandist in media. Iran is a very serious concern, but this song not only does not strike me as cathartic, the way it is written does not seem mature. The following quotes strike me as immature and overly reaching for metaphors and cliches. A handshake written down in disappearing ink. The Great Ceasefire But nobody ceases fireI talked for an hour the other day with an ex-marine, who served two tours in Afghanistan. He said that almost everything bad that he encountered had an origin in Iran. He was in favor of Trump disrupting them. He thinks that it will take at least until Christmas for something to resolve. That's mature and came from someone who had real experience in the sphere. Who should I give credibility to? That...or this TV armchair lib drivel?

its always a rerun of the Crusades . It's a rerun of long before that. The crusades were an incident along the way when theocrats had out-sized sway over both armies.
