Your hook line is "Holding On To You". In my opinion you should end all sections (except the bridge) with that line. That would make it catchier/stickier.

All I can tell you is that Marty is relentless, a liar, and proudly admits to berating me because of my Christian leanings just for fun.

A little birdie told me that my name is being slandered back in song paradise. Or at least, I was told that it would become paradise after I left. I've been gone for weeks with no desire to return.
I’m gone and liking it. I found a site where I can put up songs, make a few cordial comments, quietly contribute, and blend into the background, similar to the other sites that I visit. Trolls are shut down.
I am done battling trolls here also, so don’t take this post as me re-entering the idiocy. I do request that since I left this site so that it could become blissfull…there is no need to bring me up… (other than a desperate attempt to churn up food for trolls to feed on. (acrimony.)
AVISO Imo…there is mental illness here. It is allowed to ramble about unchecked by the owner and moderators. Women are openly and repeatedly called Ckunts. Amongst other insults. That does not occur where sanity and reason prevail.
Add to that, freewheeling diatribes about religion and politics and you have a social mixture that is guaranteed to devolve into acrimony.

Normally I would agree it needs a hook line, but since I know this isn't for radio, it doesn't need to be radio friendly. I tend to write in a conversational way. i.e. You can read the lyric like and actor would reading lines from a script, so I try to make sentences that sound like a real person is talking, not a songwriter trying to force words around. But tha't's just me!.... I posted me actually singing the song with my guitar a little further up this thread ( know it says Suno, but that's just what I uploaded)

Sometimes, guitar players aren't aware of the extras in their playing, and you work at keeping your words lean. Does it take suno to pull it out. yeah. you have a bit of a yodel in your singing. its more pronounced in suno.

When I finger pick the guitar I probably couldn't even tell you half the chords I'm playing unless I wrote them down. You're so sweet.

Figured out the chords. Key of Db. Do you use a capo on your guitar?
Capo on fourth fret, I play the 1, 4, 5 chords….A, D, E. then that one lovely chord at the end of the verse, some variation of D or A, hanging there so nice before it resolves to the root chord…nice.
Obviously having too much fun here.

Made a recording of one of Eric Skye's adaptations. The notes in this piece, are similar to your melody in Standing Here. It resonated with me. And allowed me to learn your song...which I can do now and am enjoying!
