I was hanging out with a couple people last night watching the Youtuber get knocked out. I showed them some of the goings-on on this website. I showed them my ramblings also. The consensus was that this site could field casts for sequels to both “Deliverance” and “One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.” They said that I should quit it. I responded that I like to write songs now and that it has become a bad habit that I don’t break because there are things about bantering with nutz, that I seem to enjoy. I like to write, not just songs. I write a lot, here.
From Your View; The problem here appears to be mostly me and my argumentative nature, even though it is not my website and if it was, none of this would be allowed to go on.
From My View; I like to write songs, but have to watch that be contaminated by people who;
Have called me a fascist for the way that I vote (a moderator)
Foreigners et al who come to a song site based in Indiana to post diatribes about an American President.
A troll, who posts MAGA ramblings, biblical end of days proclamations, proclamations of a wrathful God who will soon have his vengeance… and who also tells me and others to “FUK” ourselves, amongst other knuckle-dragger insults. This troll was recently blocked from another song site.
A troll who seems to function at a 15 year old level and tosses insults and harangues at people until they leave. This troll was recently blocked from another song site.
An owner who could stop all of this, but doesn’t. Recently someone who I like, was badgering a newcomer about “robots.” The newcomer started handing it back and the robot hater took the insults too far. Out of all the people that lurk, only I and one of the trolls stepped up and posted something stating that the insults had gone too far. That’s sad. Finally, the owner came bashing in the next day with an edict and ultimatum…which was violated again and nothing happened. What was posted would have gotten someone banned from every site I’ve ever visited. But, not here.
The one thing that all of these 5 people seem to agree on is that I am the biggest problem to harmony, That’s ludicrous but so are many things in 2025.
KNOW THIS: If I am going to come here and be subjected to this crap, I am going to indulge it and ramp it up for sport and at whim.
BUTT, if this group of five, plus one, (or any group of 6 posters) will come on this thread and state clearly that they would prefer that I leave…I will. I did it once, was asked back, came back…but wont come back again.
The takeaway… If I am the problem and that doesnt happen, then this site is determined to be a mess, and blaming me for it, or anyone, is flying in the face of common sense.
Marty you have to be your own master and not subject to any vote. Personally...I like you and will spar with you any time.
But you should stop being offended on Trump or MAGA's behalf and not shut out the natural consequences that flow from Trump's behaviour.
I get it. Americans are patriotic and believe in the USA...as they should....but not blindly, uncritically, or piecemeal....and when a Canadian says something, you should not simply dismiss things out of hand, or claim we have no right to say anything...even if what Trump says has a great impact. There is a saying that if the US sneezes, the world catches a cold.

I am unconcerned with what you think Americans should do. In my opinion liberals such as yourself are heading Canada to the same fate that the United States now finds itself suffering
But that is beside the point, I have made it clear that I am going to be me. I have made it clear that whenever I see a political point of view that I don't like I will respond at whim in the moment. That is now a stated given.
The variable is whether six people see that and me as a detriment to this site that needs to be removed.. or not.
Being my only master.. is loftier terms than I see my own life in. But in a sense, I am.
I have decided that six people willing to step forward and clearly state that they think this site would be better off if I was gone from it.. is a threshold that.. I.. have set.
I'm constantly being told that everybody doesn't like this and everybody doesn't like that about me. If there is an everybody here, I'm very interested to see if they are willing to come forward and say so.
Marty you do not seem to appreciate that the world is moving away from the chaos and instability being caused by the USA.
Supply chains are changing, relationships among countries are changing, businesses are looking for stability... I keep saying that when the President of the United States speaks, the world listens very carefully... you do not want to acknowledge this at all...or you do not care
Did you know that AFTER the USA did some sabre rattling about taking over Greenland that the Danes and Greenland signed agreements with Canada giving our mining companies concessions and setting up mutual co operation agreements? Their valuable minerals will be coming here and going to Europe. Trump and his MAGA &(*& acolytes overtly claim Canada should be a US state....you saw how that went....or maybe not. You call it hysteria maybe? TDS? We just call it reacting to US behaviour. We are learning that the USA today is not the same USA of the past and that we must become more self sustaining ourselves..just like the US is doing in America First
Did you know both GM and Stellantis are in deep trouble here because of US policy? By closing plants that Canada financed, GM is now subject to import limits, must pay back billions in aid and Stellantis is in a similar boat.
Did you know we are now unlikely to complete our order for your F35's...oh we will honour our current committment..may let someone else take them over..dunno...but we are likely to go with SAAB's Gripen fighter...more suitable for us on a number of fronts...not the least of which is Sweden SAAB Canada integration in manufacturing the fighter for the world. Canada gets access to everything fighter related.
Our aluminum is now going to Germany and not to the USA. Our government is signing all kinds of new trade agreements that will NOT involve the US. When you want them back they may no longer be available

Did you tell Whitney that you were calling for the political section to be shut down? It is still up. Maybe he didn't realize how serious that you were. Minutes: End of day one. Out of presumably thousands of lurkers and a handful of regular users, no one has registered a vote that they would prefer that Marty leave the site and not come back.
Surprisingly, the two trolls, Tony and Dum, both recently blocked from another songwriting site, who have repeatedly said that "everybody" thinks this and that, regarding how undesirable Marty is, and want Marty gone... have not even registered a vote.

Some of this is just curiosity, to see if the "everybody" repeatedly referred to by Dum and Tony, and to a lesser extent, Rob, actually exists. And then there is John's great dramatic moment..."Do you want to die on that hill?" That's right up there with..."I love the smell of Napalm in the morning" or, "there are not enough indians in the world to defeat the seventh cavalry."
If "everybody" exists and just one "everybody's" come forward to state that they prefer me gone, along with the "Hate Marty Five,"...I'll truly go. If not even one or two everybody's exist and are willing to come forward, then I will remain in my present form.
Special Note: I'm including John V in the "Hate Marty Five," but I dont think that he actually hates me. Too nice a person for that. The other 4? They probably do.
And yes, no one stepped forward to be the meeting secretary, so the job of maintaining focus and taking minutes defaulted to me.

I am not unhappy. That's you, once again, dropping in, presumably assigning your emotions to me. There are some nice things going on in my life. That's in this mix.

However, I've been coming here for years, and having the same distracting arguments about Trump, the end of the world and badly written songs... over and over and over. My response may be passive-aggressive. I dont argue that. That is a non-concern to me. If it is, it wouldn't be the first time that I, or you, were passive aggressive.
I'm fully aware and in-agreement with how inarguably correct Mark Twain's quote is:
"Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."
And I am completely guilty of violating that for years. Am not sure exactly why, but I did.
At this point, time is starting to matter.
I have been told that "everybody" knows that I am a hack song writer and hates me being here. Even God disdains me according to some. You never said anything like that, but the dying on the hill thing was a bit melodramatic.
As you know, I have a lot of curiosity, as do you, and an empirical nature. If all these "everybodys" think so lowly of me, I want to see at least six of them for verification. There are 2.
Lastly, this is not some giant emotional milestone for me. It's very interesting and in a place where the outcome has little if any ramifications. Of course not. I wouldn't do it if I thought I was bad at it, but I make no claims to be good. I am as good as, however good that I am, and I don't even know what determines that. I just write.
I play guitar fairly well too, but I have been in the room with guitarists who left Nashville because they got no calls...and they blew me out of the room. So I have witnessed what truly good looks like.
Songwriting is more subjective. Some moron can write something meritless by any standard, yet tell himself it's great. If you're in the room with a great guitar player and he says, "try this," the bullsh*t walks then.

Music totally is amazing. I think my journey starts with the gift of rhyme then hearing the lyric to music in my head.
I've been playing guitar for going into 50 years. Not saying I'm any good, just that I can get a song across musically now Over the years sheer volume has produced a catalogue that now that I am mostly retired I can spend some time on. I also have an incredibly gifted musical daughter whose ear and help I can depend on. In the end I think am am simply driven to create a song for myself. If it works for others, bonus.

It looks like I'm just about through here. All Dum has to do is grab 4 people out of almost 20,000 viewers and that's the end of my run here. That should be easier than easy. I guess I should go ahead and say good-bye now, but I'll wait.

No. Building a following and making money on YouTube is very very hard to do. This is easy and kind of fun and interesting in a twisted way. If you dont like it, you can leave a vote wanting me gone and its all over in a week.

Btw...the robot lovers are now assembling collections of AI songs by genre and putting them up on YouTube. I like the BB King type of blues. I've been listening to a two hour collection of AI whiskey blues songs and they sound great. Audio silk.
And every time I search for whiskey blues on Youtube, there are more AI blues collections showing up. Gonna be hard to compete with that.
