One of the most famous and reportedly one of the best country songs of all time literally has 2 verses and a chorus and that's ALL!
Yup Tony Arata, and he got the idea from the movie "Peggy sue gets married"............ now that is something I didn't know!
Just goes to show ya. 2 verses and 1 chorus is all that song is and it's really powerful. I'm gonna have to remember that, so I don't "over-write" things.
Yup you guessed it. THE DANCE. go look at how simple that lyric is.

I think back when the world was young Elvis and The Beatles had songs just over two minutes.
And they don't sound short. They're complete.
It's the Structures I think, the component parts that make it sound complete.
