Been a busy afternoon. Gotta be brief.

Foundation is done. Contractor was a total pain in the azz. Had to baby sit it and make him re-do [naughty word removed] multiple times.

Politics is poison John. I have seen FB connections lamenting that they had to de-friend longstanding friends because of their position vis-a-vis Trump...and they could not abide blah blah blah.

You wanna argue? You wanna derail stated objectives? You wanna degrade a civic discourse?
EZ-PZ. Start imposing politics and religion on people who want to discuss, for instance, songs.
Its a guarantee.

I regard it as impossible to block out the world. But I like the idea of building a moat and throwing in some alligators to create as much distance as reasonably possible.

I know very little of Canada, other than it's beauty and how Charming Quebec City is... and do not care to know more.

The focus for an American these days is China and Russia and south of the border.
Having said that, I personally, consider Canada to be America's best ally.
Others will say Israel or the UK, but Canada is an intertwined trading nation which is much less likely to drag us into a foreign war than the Europeans or Israelis. Try to live up to my illusion.

As for reasonable and articulate conversation. No guarantees.
I dislike seeing this site polluted with politics, even though its interesting.
If I engage a political conversation anyway, my goal will be to avoid knuckledragger name calling, but I wont be concerned with giving offense.

And you, should turn your attention to staying warm, not being eaten by polar bears and songs.

European countries are asking the same question. They used to have an answer. Canada has to watch out, otherwise they'll become part of the USA, which they probably want to prevent.

That prospect of Canada becoming usurped into the USA is just MSNOW hype fed to their unquestioning hair-on-fire audience of twinkies.

The closest thing that the US has to Canada is Minnesota.

There is a massive contingent of people in the US who are not going to let the US usurp a giant Minnesota into the voting base.

Trump had the clarity to see that NATO was the USA.

Rationally discuss politics is this fantasy alternate universe that lives in the minds of liberals.
You think that you are going to calmly explain to me why your thinking should be mine, and I'm going to have this epiphany transformation.

But you all dont realize that the dots in your world don't really connect.

That said, if you were good at home recording, and had the gear and ear for it, you didnt need a studio.

As for me...

True Fact: the last guy that assaulted me was 23 years ago.
The police called an ambulance for him.

I was building townhomes in a rough area of Houston in my early 40's.

First, I didn’t “self-deport.” I travel to Germany because I have family there. That’s not political, and framing it that way is unnecessary.
Second, I did not start a political discussion here. The discussion was already political when I posted my very short comment.
Third, calling people “foreigners,” assigning motives like “TDS,” or lumping multiple members together doesn’t advance discussion — it escalates it. That’s exactly the kind of tone you’ve said makes politics toxic here.
I’m fine with disagreement. I’m not fine with personal attacks or misrepresentation.
Most people are here because this is a songwriting site. They participate in music, lyrics, and craft. When you say “I’m here because of you and John and Dom,” that says more than you probably intend.
I’m done with this exchange and returning to the actual purpose of the site.

I personally knew of a male camp counselor, whose songs enamored a bunch of young girls over campfires.
It was an exclusive camp and all the young girls parents were wealthy.

They had a party to raise money (20 years ago) to send him to Nashville and get him recorded and discovered.
They raised $40,000

He went to Nashville.
Some producer bled the money out.
End of story.
