This song, called "Echoes of the Past", dives into a darker, more cinematic theme than I usually write about. It isn’t about any one person or administration — it’s about what happens when powerful people hide behind closed doors, and the damage that secrecy leaves behind. At its core, it’s about: • Victims who were ignored or silenced • People in high places trying to bury the truth • The way hidden actions eventually come back to the surface It explores how systems protect the guilty, distort accountability, and debate the “degrees” of wrongdoing — while the people who were hurt carry the weight forever. The bridge honors the survivors whose voices are finally rising. It’s a story about consequences, justice, and truth that refuses to stay buried. A big thanks to John here, who pointed out things worth adding and refining along the way. Hope you’ll give it a listen and let me know what you think. Echoes of the Pasthttps://soundclick.com/song/15147471[Instrumental Intro] [Verse] He once said, “Open up the files Let the truth come pouring through.” Back before the crown was his Before the power changed his view [Verse] Now the corridors are whispering Shadows crawling down the walls Something buried in those pages That could be the end of it all [Pre-chorus] If he’s innocent of shadows Why lock up the only key? Why the chains around the archives What’s he scared the world will see? [Chorus] Echoes of the past Are burnin’ down the gate While the ones who guard the guilty Debate degrees of fate But truth won’t bow to power And pain won’t fade that fast They can run, but can’t escape The echoes of the past [Verse] Every sunrise brings another Piece of daylight creeping in Old exchanges, hidden meetings Tied to things he can’t defend [Verse] And a ghost who left a warning Said those secrets make kings fall Now the questions roll like thunder And the Leader fears them all [Pre-chorus] If he’s innocent of shadows Why lock up the only key? Why the chains around the archives What’s he scared the world will see? [Chorus] Echoes of the past Are burnin’ down the gate While the ones who guard the guilty Debate degrees of fate But truth won’t bow to power And pain won’t fade that fast They can run, but can’t escape The echoes of the past [Bridge] They were young and they were silenced But their voices rise like fire And they’re calling for the justice That the guilty men require No more shadows, no more secrets No more sins that go unnamed Let the truth drag them to daylight Let the verdict speak their shame [Interlude] [Chorus] Echoes of the past Are burnin’ down the gate While the ones who guard the guilty Debate degrees of fate But truth won’t bow to power And pain won’t fade that fast They can run, but can’t escape The echoes of the past [Final chorus] Echoes of the past Cry louder every day He could end it with the truth But he turns and walks away The harder he resists The faster doubts amass Now the world begins to see Through the echoes of the past

Generally speaking , you shouldn't have to write a preface as long as the lyric to explain it. Music don't work that way.
Lyrically it's a bit more poetic than your standard fare, but the music is all wrong.
Musically it's inspirational or even Christian rock or pop. Not a good fit in my opinion .
No real hook , nothing that sticks with you

You can see what happened there. I wanted to avoid that here. That was the reason for the preface. And, I wanted to thank John for his input.

[Verse] He once said, “Open up the files Let the truth come pouring through.” Back before the crown was his Before the power changed his view A clear and inarguable reference to Trumpenstein. Clearly political bashing. Any watery and ridiculous obfuscation is DOA. Dont bother. Marty gets to rebuke this on its face. More coming later once I have listened to the entire slam.

First pass,
The only indisputable personal reference is clearly to Trump. V1 is Trumpenstein. It is the preface and set up.
The remainder, as Dom noted, is puff, that waxes poetic as if trying to talk about a midsummer nights dream.
Critical thinking:
There was an egregious array of ongoing crimes committed against teenage girls. They were lured, groomed and processed to be underage prostitutes for powerful and connected men with a taste for sex with other people's children.
A decent man would have looked at that and gone "phuque this, I dont have sex with other peoples 14-17 year old daughters."
Donald Trump got elected, partially, because he said that he would throw full light on Epstein and cohorts. But now he is clearly trying to bury it. Now it is threatening to bury Trump so he is being forced to release files but apparently so heavily redacted that none of the scoundrels are being uncovered.
I suspect that the phone calls started flying in from both sides of the aisle and Trump bent to the pressure.
But this song does not allude to the president who had these files for 4 years. Democrat Nor does the song allude to the president who was at the top of Epsteins frequent flyer list. Democrat.
Conclusion This song is not a critically minded attempt to let blame fall on whoever deserves it regardless of affiliation. This song is a one-sided unveiled Trump bash, based in incurable TDS.
In this critiquers opinion, Trump et al are hiding the "pedophile cabal" that was dismissed as "Q" conspiracy theory. I was one who dismissed it as ridiculous. Biden sat on the files for 4 years. And Clinton appears to have been one of "Lolitas" frequent flyers.
So THEMATICALLY, if someone is actually interested in hard truth, and not poetic naval gazing in order to impress themselves... their song would shine light on all of the guilty...this song does not.
Ultimate Conclusion This song is just propaganda attempting to disguise itself as altruism.
Signed,
Marty

Final Note: I may come back to this. I enjoy political debate. I think its poison for any forum with an intended purpose that is not political debate. But, it's allowed here. Can't lick em, may as well join em.

I don't think it would really matter even if he's on it.
Without proof he did anything its all guilty by association.
Either he thinks he's clean, or he thinks Republicans will cite it down.
You know there could be other high profile people on it.
I think Trump supporters would need to see a video of him doing the deed to care.
Even so, he's gonna stay president and would not be running again
Waste of time

I think Trump supporters would need to see a video of him doing the deed to care. I'm not a republican but I voted for Trump 3 times. There are many like me. If he is guilty of actually engaging any young girls, or knowingly facilitating anyone else who did, and covering it up...and there was evidence that a reasonable person would believe...then that criminality would be such that I would want him impeached and many others would and there would be a real chance of that in the house and senate...given the thin vote margins. It would only take a handful of repubs. There was a time when Nixon looked bullet-proof. I dont know who did what, but clearly Trump has been trying to intimidate people into dropping the pursuit. Trump isnt the biggest issue. The undisclosed abusers are and the prospect that govts are involved in pedophile prostitution is.

But with all those ifs, it's more likely to say I do not know enough, I'm not jumping ship..and it would likely take quite some time to unravel it all, especially with the major peg, dead. I suspect most supporters would not be swayed There's no way in hell Trump would Incriminate himself, he either got news of what's on it, or doesn't believe it would be allowed. I can't see there being enough proof even with a document saying he was there. Plus Epstein fir a brilliant businessman would have to be the biggest moron ever to leave paper trails

Something explains why Trump abruptly went from being the guy that was going to bring it all to light... to... the guy who seems to be beligerently not wanting it to see the light.
There is a something(s) out of view. If it is a big nothing, then disclose the big nothing in all of its detail, and let it fade out.
But he doesn't. He keeps calling it a hoax. If it is, what is the harm in showing us the hoax.
Gotta be doing that, because something bad is there.
And I think that a lot of people dont like the ugliness of Epstein and what they are seeing, and they are waiting for a "deep throat" moment.
But, if there is evidence, it may , like Hillary's hard drive, somehow be destroyed.
A lot of people are waiting, watching, wondering, but not dismissing or overlooking this one. Its because of the nature of the crime.

Guys, I appreciate the discussion, but this has drifted far outside the lane of what my post was about. I didn’t write a political piece or a commentary on Trump. The song is about abuse of power, victims being ignored, and the truth eventually coming to the surface. That applies to any system or leader, past or present, on any side of the spectrum. What’s being debated here now is entirely about politics and specific figures — which is not the intent of the song and not what I’m here to discuss. I also don’t see anyone mentioning the victims, which is the heart of the story. I’m going to stay focused on the creative side: the writing, the structure, the message, and the music itself. If anyone has feedback on the song or the lyrics, I’m all ears. Thanks.

Guys,
I didn’t write a political piece or a commentary on Trump.
[Verse] He once said, “Open up the files Let the truth come pouring through.” Back before the crown was his Before the power changed his view V1 was dedicated to setting up Trump. I know it. Dom knows it. If you asked 1000 random people, they would all know it You know it. So the decision has been made that this is a political post. That decision does not require you to agree. It may wax and wane about the poor girls that were used and abused, but it is a one-sided political propaganda piece because of the clarity in V1, and can be treated as such. Sidenote: Musically it seems a little bland to my ear and the music does not really deliver the message in a compelling way.

Marty, I hear your interpretation, but I don’t agree with the way you’re framing it. You’re asserting that Verse 1 is “obviously” about Trump, but that’s your read of it, not its written intent. The song is about abuses of power, victims who were ignored, and truth that gets buried. Those themes existed long before Trump and will exist long after him. If someone wants to map a real-world figure onto it, they can — but that’s true for any metaphorical lyric. It doesn’t make the song “propaganda,” and it certainly doesn’t cancel out the broader message. I respect your opinion, but I’m not going to let someone else define what I wrote or why I wrote it. As for the musical critique, I’m always open to specific feedback. “Bland” doesn’t give me much to work with, but if you have suggestions about arrangement, dynamics, melody, or structure, I’d welcome those. I’m here for the creative discussion — not a political fight, and not a debate about who you think the lyric should point to. You guys should focus more on the victims.

It is obviously about Trump. I'm not going to do this little dance with you where you deny the blatantly obvious. The decision has been made that this song is a political post and thereby subject to retort. There is no avenue available for appeal.
Bland is just my opinion given the outrageousness of multiple administrations turning a blind eye and covering up pedophile prostitution of young girls without the life experiences to know what demons look like in expensive clothes.
The music is fine enough.

The music is fine enough. Marty, I respect that this is your interpretation. But it’s still just that — an interpretation. You’re saying it’s “obvious,” “blatant,” and “not up for appeal,” but that’s not how creative work functions. Listeners bring their own lenses, and you’re bringing yours. That’s fine — but it doesn’t override the intent behind the song. I’m not interested in debating politics here, and I’m not going to keep defending the meaning of my own lyric to someone who insists they get the final say. If you want to discuss the writing, the structure, or the musical side, I’m all for it. If not, I’m stepping out of the political angle and getting back to the creative work. Marty, you keep framing this entirely in terms of Trump and politics, but what about the victims? That’s the actual heart of the issue — the girls who were abused and ignored. My song is about them and the systems that protected their abusers. I’d really like to keep the focus on justice for the victims, not on political teams.

You have argued against the blatantly obvious so many times now that it has been decided that you are either connivingly disingenuous or there is something real bad wrong with your brain. If you believe what you are trying to sell to me, then there is something real bad wrong with your brain. You should see a professional about that.
As I said, it has been decided that it is a political post and you have no Avenue of appeal.

That's just that. Marty, you seem to be the only one here interpreting the song that way. Even Ben didn’t hear what you’re hearing. The point of the lyric — and the point of the victims’ recent TV statements — is that people in high places need to stop burying the truth so those who were hurt can finally see real accountability. When a conversation shifts into personal insults and comments about my mental health, there’s really nothing productive left to say. I’m here to talk about songwriting, not to trade personal attacks. So I’m stepping out of this part of the discussion. If anyone has constructive thoughts on the music or the lyrics, I’m happy to hear them.

Hey man good song , I never got Trump from any of this What did you think it was about? Dom, It’s about abuse of power and the people who get hurt when the truth is buried. I wrote it around three themes: • victims who were ignored or silenced • powerful people shielding each other • how secrets eventually force their way to the surface It wasn’t written about Trump or any single person — it’s about a pattern that repeats across different eras, industries, administrations, and institutions. That’s the story I was trying to tell. If someone hears echoes of a real figure in it, that’s up to them — that’s how metaphorical songwriting works. But the message is bigger than any one person.

Suno is kinda mixing doo wop with a modern melody . This could be about any politician really Ben — that’s exactly how I see it. It’s clear someone here is interpreting it in a very different way, and that’s fine — but my intent wasn’t political. The themes in the song — cover-ups, power protecting power, victims being ignored — are things that have happened under all kinds of leaders and institutions. The doo-wop/modern blend just felt like the right way to give it a timeless feel, since the problem isn’t tied to any one era or figure.

We both know the little schoolgirl game that you got going on here in verse 1. I don't know why others can't see it, or simply say they can't see it. And I don't care. It's blatant. There were a lot of people who didn't think that Putin was going into Ukraine, but like these other folks here, it was obvious that it was and he did. But they missed it. There ain't my truth or your truth. There is the facts which is the truth
To truly be a moralistic piece of work, your song needs to address some things that it has not. I can't stop and fix it for you now, but I won't let you down. I will get back here and tell you what you need to do to get it right

Before I get back to what I was doing, I will give you some information and leave you with a question. It will be good for you to think that over in the interim until I get back with full instruction.
Bill Clinton was an American president. Bill Clinton was on 17 to 28 flightlegs of the Lolita Express over a two-year period. That isn't disputed. It includes four transatlantic flights to my understanding which are all recorded in the flight logs of the plane. Those flights included Landings in Asia, Europe and Africa. That is a lot of time in that airplane.
Question for you: In all of that time on that plane what do you think is the percentile probability that no young prostituted girls were also on that plane? What do you think is the percentile probability that Bill Clinton was never asked if you would like to partake in the prostitution on that plane? What do you think is the percentile probability that Bill Clinton never did take part in the prostitution on that plane?
Before you give your answers contemplate how Monica Lewinsky might answer those same questions.?

Kinda amusing all these girls come out 20 years later looking for a paycheck from rich guys , I can't remember yesterday . But they have perfect recollection. its always the guys fault . Why were they hanging with any of them in the first place ? Clinton was probably the best in awhile , The economy wasn't in the toilet like now , I could care less on his sex life. Right it was all Bills fault . Why was Monica hanging with Bill ? Well you can guess. Well at least hookers are honest , not like politicians . They're basically in the same business. Like Suno lol

Ben
Epstein was convicted of trafficking women in Florida. From what I read he served his sentence more or less according to his own terms.
There is a solid trail of evidence on Epstein. Some of these girls 14 and 15 and 16 years old when they were plucked out of trailer parks and groomed to be underage prostitutes.
One can easily see how they thought so little of themselves that they would never dare challenge power by themselves. No doubt others were along for the ride and just looking for a Payday, but there is a demonic level of crime here. Epstein and Maxwell were beasts, and they undoubtedly catered to the appetites of Beasts that we don't know the names of.
I think the house is voting on the files coming out tomorrow. From what I understand the government will have a month to bring them forward. In that month I would not be surprised if the files don't commit suicide.

Marty, I’m not going to answer hypothetical questions about real people or take part in a political interrogation in a songwriting thread. Your Clinton questions are speculative and incendiary, and they don’t help the creative conversation. My song is about the people harmed by secrecy and the systems that protected abusers — that’s where my focus is. I don’t care which powerful individuals or political parties were involved. Anyone who abused or enabled the abuse of girls should be held accountable, no exceptions, no pardons. That’s the message in the lyric. If you have specific musical feedback — structure, melody, phrasing, delivery — I’m open to that. If not, I’m done with the political back-and-forth here.

In that month I would not be surprised if the files don't commit suicide. Marty, they can vote as often as they want to. That is not relevant anymore. A few days ago Trump ordered Bondi to reopen the Epstein investigation and target Democrats, which she did. The Department of Justice can now claim it can’t turn over all of the Epstein Files because of a new “ongoing investigation.” And Congressional Republicans, pressured to vote in favor of turning over the files, could now tell the voters back home: “Hey, it’s an open investigation, I couldn’t vote for it.” That's explains why Trump doesn't care how they vote.

Rob, Bondi is the last couple of pages in a book that has been going on for three to four decades, through several presidencies. The most glaring of which is Bill Clinton. A lot of people like me do not like what they see as a cover up on the part of Bondi and Trump.
One thing that you and I share is that we really don't know what is going on. But all of it looks like guilty Behavior.
And what you and your songs are badly missing is an overall perspective that sees the totality of these crimes across Democrat as well as Republican Administrations. You are emotionally blinded to what you don't want to see is true.
But I will help you overcome that. So just keep posting these songs that lead with a trump Bash, and keep asking me," are you going to believe me or you're lying eyes? "

I'm also getting a bit tired of the words Artificial Intelligence . yes we get it robots make music , move on. Oh it made Digital charts excuse me . Majors are shaking in their boots, Strap on my six string in that song , Rick thought that sucked , I thought it was pretty good

Well, I think since it's known how you feel, it's easy to put two and two together I mean I see a distant reference to Trump, it's not hard to see it. That said, it's best to leave sings speak for themselves, can answer questions later. If you didn't write the long but at the top, this could be about anything.

Rob,
You know that I'm here to help.
We both agree in the abstract that we want the rats chased out of the barn. With the difference between you and me is that you want to ignore and leave in place your favorite rats and just chase out the ones that you don't like. I want all the rats chased out. When it comes to crimes as a wretched as Epstein, morality dictates that there can be no rats unaddressed. It is the difference between being a partisan and principled.
You never answered my questions regarding Clinton. I'll ask again. Do you think he spent all those hours on the Lolita Express, alone and reading a book, never offered the company of a young teenage prostitute, and never partaking in a sexual encounter with a teenage prostitute?
An Allied question is, given what we know about him, why would he not?
Eagerly awaiting your reply

Eagerly awaiting your reply Marty, I already responded to your Clinton questions. I’m not defending any “favorite rats.” I think anyone involved in trafficking or abuse — Republican, Democrat, whoever — should be investigated and held accountable. Full stop. Where you and I differ is not on morality, but on how much weight we’re each giving to speculation versus what’s actually proven. I’m not going to answer loaded hypotheticals about what Clinton “must have” done. If there’s evidence, it should be investigated. If there’s no evidence, then I’m not going to fill in the blanks with assumptions. This song is about serious crimes, rich, powerful men and a cover-up and I don’t want to turn it into a political argument.

You have left a years long trail of declaring Trump guilty of every rumor that ever popped up. And now all of a sudden, you have a favorite Democrat rat and you're taking the high road. You look a bit out of place on the high road.
I did not ask you to convict Bill Clinton. I asked you to assign a percentile probability to the prospect that he did not engage in sex on that airplane with any of those young girls, even though he was a passenger on the Lolita Express for hours and hours. But you are now on the high road, and unwilling to even dignify such a question with a personal opinion,, because Bill Clinton is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
If you would like to know what really went on with Epstein and the Lolita Express, your Runaway very best eye Witness is Bill Clinton.
Maybe when crowned emperor, Trump will have him arrested and waterboarded and he will tell us what really happened on that plane, and who was there, and who knew about it.
And if Trump engaged any of those young girls physically or facilitated anyone else to do so, he needs to be gone.

And if Trump engaged any of those young girls physically or facilitated anyone else to do so, he needs to be gone. Marty, this is getting way too personal and too dramatic. You’re assigning motives and positions to me that I don’t hold, and rewriting our history of conversations as if I’ve ever supported trafficking, abuse, or cover-ups from anyone. I haven’t. I’m not playing the game of “assigning probabilities” to hypothetical crimes for anyone — Clinton, Trump, or anyone else. If evidence exists, investigate it. If people are guilty, prosecute them. That’s my position across the board. How many times do I have to say this before it’s acknowledged? I’m not going to get pulled into caricatures about who’s on the “high road,” who’s a “favorite rat,” or who should be waterboarded. That’s not a real conversation, and I’m not going to engage at that level. If you want to talk respectfully, I’m here. If this is going to keep escalating into personal accusations, insults and hypotheticals, then it’s not productive for either of us.

"Stop the process I call 'waiting to live.' This is the worst type of procrastination, because there will always be another 'reason to wait' lurking ahead. Once you are in this rut, it is nearly impossible to get out of it. Instead, adopt a 'Live as you Go' mentality." -Brian Austin Whitney
