The Simon Sorghum Festival is held annually at the John Roger Simon Farm in West Portsmouth, Ohio, located at 8721 Careys Run Pond Creek Road. It's a two-day event at the end of September that celebrates Appalachian heritage with live music, crafts, and demonstrations of sorghum syrup making.

Sorghum Syrup Making: The festival features the on-site creation of fresh sorghum syrup.

A big thank you to Clark Weller of Troop 6021 in Wheelersburg, who, with the help of some friends, completed his Eagle Scout project by fabricating and installing two benches at the Simon Woods Preserve.
The new Simon Woods Trail is located in West Portsmouth, behind the historic French homestead along Pond Creek. It will be open for a special sneak preview exclusively during the 41st Annual John Roger Simon Sorghum & Music Festival on September 27–28, 2025, and will officially open in a few months once it is fully installed.
