Roots Music Project Presents: A Night of Funk & Groove - Friday, June 6th 2025
Get ready for an unforgettable evening at Roots Music Project as we bring together the finest in funk, disco, and dance music. The night kicks off with NELLI spinning his signature deep cuts, setting the tone with soulful selections that bridge classic and contemporary sounds.
Next up, Denver's own funk powerhouse Lit Society takes the stage. This rotating collective of the city's top musicians brings the heat with their northeast jazz/funk influences, featuring an all-star lineup of Dominic Lalli, Borahm Lee, Garrett Sayers, Lyle Divinsky, Caton Sollenberger, Nate Miller, and Eric Imbrosciano. Their tight grooves and improvisational prowess promise to keep you moving all night long.
To close out this sonic journey, NELLI returns to the decks for a final set. This NY-born, Denver-based selector will take you deep into the night with his masterful blend of Boogie Funk, Disco, House, and Techno. Drawing from the rich traditions of NYC, Detroit, Chicago, and beyond, NELLI's celebratory approach to dance music creates an atmosphere where body and soul unite on the dance floor.

Lit Society is a Denver-based funk ensemble influenced by the northeast jazz/funk scene of the 1990s and 2000s. The group is a rotating collective of Denver’s top funk musicians.

Originally hailing from NY, longtime Denver resident and scene stalwart, NELLI, is a veteran deep cut selector, who conjures a well-crafted mix of synthed-out Boogie Funk, NYC-informed Disco-Funk, alongside Deep seductive House, and Cosmic Techno Funk.
Every set is a love letter to the dance floor and an homage to the roots of dance music and DJ culture that paved the way for his traditional approach and forward style. He aims to spread a love vibration with each selection, connecting dots between NYC Disco, Detroit Techno, Chicago House, Norwegian Cosmic Disco, UK & Dutch House.
His unique and larger-than-life sets are celebratory gestures of the highest order, geared to move the body and soul, and are not to be missed!
