Big difference. Not guilty is a legal term, means the jury felt, that the standard "no other logical explanation" was not proven

Innocent is a totally different thing

Every person is found either guilty or not guilty when they read the verdict...so does that mean that no one is innocent every time a not guilty verdict is given? However if it makes Marty feel good...OJ was innocent

I didn't think that he was Steve.
The blood on the glove and where they found the glove, along with the low speed chase did it for me.

But if you say that OJ was not guilty... or not guilty, but not-not-guilty...or a martian...that's "your truth."

LOL wink

Innocent until proven guilty still applies, but its legal innocence.

Not guilty basically means we don't have a smoking gun... But there's still a good chance he did it.

Which we all know he did lol.

But that's why we have trials. And the burden of proof is on the prosecutor. She failed.

He had a dream team of lawyers who played the not guilty term perfectly

Not Guilty" in a Legal Context:
A "not guilty" verdict means the jury or judge found that the prosecution did not meet its burden of proof to prove the defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
It doesn't necessarily mean the defendant is innocent, but rather that the prosecution's case was insufficient to convince the jury or judge of guilt.
A "not guilty" verdict can result from various factors, including insufficient evidence, doubts about the prosecution's case, or even mistakes in the investigation or presentation of evidence.
"Innocent" in a Legal Context:
"Innocent" refers to the actual state of not having committed the crime, regardless of the outcome of the trial.
It is a question of fact, not a legal finding, and a "not guilty" verdict does not necessarily mean that the defendant is innocent.
A person could be found "not guilty" due to legal technicalities or weaknesses in the prosecution's case, even if they actually committed the crime.

We have some common ground Steve.
I'm not interested in my thoughts on OJ either.

Did see him once though.
Wife and I were in the French Quarter and these two guys asked us to take their pic with OJ and there he was. Big dude.

The question before the court today....Is Marty a good man? All those who have standing in this matter should now come forward with factual evidence for and against the question now before the court. Marty, if he so chooses can plead his case for "Being Good" but in any case he is still considered innocent of being good until found guilty'

I want too give you a heads up

Trump is going to start changing things as he is looking to blame others for all the bad financial news that seem to be going with his beautiful tariffs that you had to know going in contradict his promises to bring prices down on day one of his presidency. Targets are easy as personally loyal people are not there because they know what they are doing Hello Robert Kennedy.

As things fall apart, heads will roll....his narcissism will not allow otherwise

Just not gonna say when, so telling you "a la navarro"

No. I am Say-tin incarnate. I never liked that name though. I much prefer Mephistopheles. Class-ier sounding.

Yeah. there is all that. And if stock market trashes, your obsession with regard to Trump (not TDS of course) will joyously have proof of his deserved condemnations.

Be careful what you wish for...Thursday and Friday's losses echoed the Thursday and Friday before "Black Monday." A commensurate drop would be 8000 points tomorrow. With electronic trading, a panic'd sell off could be even worse. We'll see.

Not much of a chance of that big of a drop in today's markets...circuit breakers kick in now to shut markets down

The futures are down 1500 as we speak so there may be a delayed opening...if it keeps up they could shut down for the day....I think that happened in 2008-9

Weeeee Canada is not USA but down we go I am sure. How far?

And shutting down for a day may be a good idea to let the market and powers that be pause a bit before proceeding. Lot can happen and be said in a day

Marty if you think I'd see a silver lining in a stock market crash such as joyous vindication of TDS then let that delusion be yours to roam with. Take it to lunch maybe or a long ride in the desert

I'm convinced that you would celebrate a big loss as vindication of your relentless vitreol for Trump.
You hate Trump way too much.
You always have and you are not even a voting citizen.

It's hard to understand.

Glad to hear.

Question though...they can stop trading, but if people are determined to sell, won't it still just bleed out?

What they want to do is curb panic selling and volatility .... when the exchange drops a certain percent, they shut it down...then reopen and if it starts to drop rapidly again... circuit breakers kick in again....they had always done it with individual stocks but Black Monday made them pass regs to shut down entire exchanges...In other words no one can sell anything even if they wanted to....another major concern when the markets move down fast are margin calls which can cause additional selling pressure

Not even gonna try that one, Marty....he has a window of opportunity to ease up on tariffs say to max 10% anywhere....probably a few days before structural damage begins to creep in...ie supply chains shutting down....if he digs in. it may seem like 2008/9 was a walk in the park

In 2024, 20.4 million Canadians visited the United States, making Canada the top source of international visitors to the US, generating $20.5 billion in spending and supporting 140,000 American jobs

Over the last few years, people here and there have predicted a return to 2018. Seems strident.
If that came to pass, it would be about 26k.

Who knows?

26k on the Dow is a global economic collapse

Maybe it's hard to understand because it is not true...I do not make a habit of wishing I could shoot holes in my own foot.

And pointing out that Trump casually lies and lies to get what he wants .....and is using big blunt instruments is decidely not hating him...
Pointing out 5 years ago that he lost the election and 4 years ago that he incited a mob etc is not hatred

Oh and Google Oren Cass. Much the same thinking as Trump...but much better at messaging and disagrees with how to get there....ie don't use blunt force or lie or...
Actually quite rational and convincing .....saw him interviewed by Jon Stewart....totally serious and unflappable

John, Steve, Rob

Not today. I've said all that I know and care to say.

You all have very very liberal viewpoints. The world's pendulum is swinging away from you because so many people in the western world have seen the outcomes of your liberal viewpoints and consider your viewpoints destructive and degenerative to their lives. I'm afraid that I am one of them and not going to be persuaded otherwise.

The US is in trouble because of the interest payments on the national debt and unfunded liabilities. Shrinking govt payrolls and revising imbalanced trade relationships is where a practical mind starts...be it Trump's or anyone elses. His intent is to change any of our trade relationships that appear parasitical into trade relationships that are balanced and MUTUALLY beneficial. Trump was elected in our republic. So he has the power of office behind him to do it his way.

Again, my suggestion is to tell anyone listening to approach this with a reasonable and practical point of view.

Have as pleasant a day as possible.

Don't care about persuading you on anything....you already made an immoral decision....
Other than my comment on transgender people (A human right comment that has support on the left and right) please show me my liberal viewpoints. I give information and am a strong advocate of the rule of law (A right wing Viewpoint)...like I said Trump isn't the issue...the voters are.

You also have zero knowledge of voting in Canada. Canada is a left of centre country and has been for over 100 years and is not moving to the right anytime soon...so this pendulum swing is not occurring here because the right has failed to grow its base for over 100 years. That is not a liberal viewpoint, that is a fact with strong evidence to support the facts. The right has never decided an election for 100 years. During that time Libs were in power 70% and Conserves 30%. They only gained power because of Lib crossover.

So read what I write....for the most part I stick to facts

Steve,
Once again, we agree on something.

Generally speaking, Canada is a very liberal country and generally speaking Canadians have very very liberal viewpoints. Such as you and John.

No argument there.
Have a pleasant day.

If Trump cares about anything it's money, the economy...

Last thing he wants to do is shite on the people that got him elected.

We have to hope he knows that he's doing and it will have a boomerang effect.

If not, .....

Viewpoints are relative to our differences in culture and history and experience and politics and political organization ...and yes, that is why Canada is liberal in the John Stuart Mill sense of the word.

Your viewpoint became more acute with local safety and southern border an issue...lot of emotion with fear and focused attention and it totally affects your daily life.

I expect we would have different conversations about other things where our views align

The DOW is up 1000 points on the day.
But that cannot be true.
Because Trumpenstein and his tariffs have undone civilization and the global markets are collapsing!
Well, maybe not collapsing today, but there is hope that they still will.

What a dumb post. It shows just how seriously many Americans take this stuff. The DOW is negative. Musk calls Navarro dumber than a bag of bricks. Isn't Musk the guy who understands business?

well that market always bounces around , nothing new. The sky is falling doomsayers , then things even out again. highs and lows like 15 thousand BC.

1000 points???? How about down 206
When the market is oversold, the houses move and take advantage then get out,,,don't forget markets tend to look months out,,, not what's going on today

That's a little rough Rob....unless you have an in depth knowledge of the movement of markets, you tend to go on hope...I'm not sure Marty is any different than most

Until there is big news ( ie Trump says tariffs are over,) the move is down because the market is saying recession a few months out...from time to time hope kicks in when there is a positive move

Steve,
my comment had nothing to do with the level of the stock market. The rest of his post was pretty ridiculous.

Yes I get that...I just don't think it's a dumb post....it probably expresses his hope because his guy is in deep
