MmmKay...

So, what I'm seeing here are four "punchlines" for four verses that describe why "it's better to be lonely". Perhaps 3 line verses to keep it short and punchy.

And, a two line repetitive refrain that includes "better to be lonely".

Maybe Elvis is on to something...?

Let's work it and see what happens smile

"Better To Be Lonely" March 29, 2025

(Verse I)
She's playing No Risk Poker,
Shootin' blank dice,
Solo monopoly,
Don't care solitaire!
(Refrain-type Chorus)
'Don't worry about me!" she says.
"It's Better To Be Lonely!"

(Verse II)
She's free from competition,
Got her soul on ice!
No, she ain't complaining!
She's ready for the fight!
"Don't worry about me!" she says.
"It's Better To Be Lonely!"

(Bridge)
I'm out here, looking in.
She invites me, with a grin
Ink's still dripping, from her pen
She says it;
"It's Better To Be Lonely."

(Verse III)
She's playing high stakes ante,
all by herself.
Buying penny candy,
right off of the shelf!
"Don't worry about me!" she says.
It's Better To Be Lonely!

(Coda)
"Don't worry about me!" she says.
It's Better To Be Lonely!
It's Better To Be Lonely!

Fun idea Tony. Here we go:

Did a drive by
Saw lights on
Called you up
You don't answer the phone
I know, I know
you'll say
better to be alone, yes

Better to be lonely
Playing no care solitaire
Risking a hook-up
With some fool phony
Better to be Lonely

"Better To Be Lonely" employs a Stanza-Type Chorus.
(Verse I)
I did a drive by!
I saw your lights were on!
I called you up!
You don't answer your phone!
I know! I know!
You'll say you're
better off alone, yes!

(Stanza-Type Chorus)
Better To Be Lonely!
playing no care solitaire!
than risking a hook-up!
with some fool phony!
Better To Be Lonely!

(Verse II)
Turned on my Wi-fi,
my internet at home!
My Messenger
was ghosted and now gone!
I know! I know!
You'll say you
were not at home! Yeah!

Better To Be Lonely!
playing no care solitaire!
than risking a hook-up!
with some fool phony!
Better To Be Lonely!

(Bridge)
Better to keep your door
bolted up and locked!
Better To Be Lonely!
than friendly with a fox!

Better To Be Lonely!
playing no care solitaire!
than risking a hook-up!
with some fool phony!
Better To Be Lonely!

(Coda)
Yes! Better To Be Lonely!
Phony fools and lyin' tools!
Better To Be Lonely!

Hmm feels like a casino going on here, I like it,

Better To Be Lonely.

I could go out
Paint the town
Meet some friends
Invite them round,
But I don’t want
Any company
It’s fun to play
Solo monopoly.

Chorus
Spread the word
Don’t message or phone me
In my frame of mind
It’s better to be lonely

I can ignore
That I miss her
Cut the deck
Play no risk poker,
I feel a thrill
Strong and rare
When I deal
Don’t care solitaire

Bridge
Spaces where her things used to be
They speak volumes to me
And make me think twice,
But solitude suits me fine
And I don’t wanna waste time
Shooting blank dice.

Chorus
Spread the word
Don't message or phone me
In my frame of mind
It's better to be lonely.

"Better To Be Lonely"

(Verse I)
I dealt the cards!
She rolled the dice!
I had two aces
and a two-faced Joker.
She beat me bad playin'
No risk poker!

(Chorus)
I went broke and she went home,
left me sittin' at the table alone!
I swore next time it would be me only!
When you play like me it's
Better To Be Lonely!
Better To Be Lonely!

(Verse II)
I anted up!
She rolled me over!
A Queen and King
and that two-faced Joker!
Wishin' I wasn't there!
Don't care Solitaire!

I went broke and she went home,
left me sittin' at the table alone!
I swore next time it would be me only!
When you play like me it's
Better To Be Lonely!
Better To Be Lonely!

(Bridge)
She's got the prettiest Poker Face!
Smiled me down and in my place!
One more hand and I doubled down!
She won again and bought us a round!

I went broke and she went home,
left me sittin' at the table alone!
I swore next time it would be me only!
When you play like me it's
Better To Be Lonely!
Better To Be Lonely!

(Coda)
When you play like me it's
Better To Be Lonely!

"Better To Be Lonely"

(Chorus)
After you broke my heart,
I found a new place to start.
We'll agree to disagree, won't we?
It's Better To Be Lonely.

(Verse I)
The lawyers will work it out.
The Judge won't have a doubt.
They know what we're all about.
It's Better To Be Lonely

(Verse II)
Things don't mean much any more,
scattered around on our floor.
We're tired of slamming our doors.
It's Better To Be Lonely.

After you broke my heart,
I found a new place to start.
We'll agree to disagree, won't we?
It's Better To Be Lonely.

(Bridge)
Take the high road.
I'll take the low.
Undo the locks, and go.
Pretend you've never known me.
It's Better To Be Lonely.

(Coda)
Pretend you've never known me.
It's Better To Be Lonely.
It's Better To Be Lonely.

I'm thinking about a bridge that speaks to genZ.
The "hook-up" generation...

Leave your politics at the door
Drop your laundry on the floor
Mom-n-Dad don't care no more
Nothing as it was before

800 'Views' based on the Title: Open Project.
They had no idea what they would find if they clicked, but had 'hopes' for something, a 'Project', and one 'Open' for... what?
I think that's a street level indication people would like to collaborate.
Those of you kind of bored with where your musical journey has come to at this point would probably enjoy some interaction.
During the Coronavirus Pandemic of the Early 21st Century (2019 to present day) even the Professionals were 'zapping' collaborations around via the internet.
Those of you with that kind of skills should probably explore it.
You don't have to do it forever. But you may find it enjoyable, even profitable.

I don't have the technical skills. Many of you folks do this stuff well and could possibly enjoy it.
I can't identify anything I want enough to be motivated to do that work.
Views are well over 800 now, again, based on the words 'Open Project'. They don't know what they're going to find but they seem to think 'Open Project' is worth clicking on. They're looking for an 'opening' and thinking a 'project' could be interesting.

I get what you're saying, Gary...
Sometimes just having an open conversation about a concept helps me to rearrange or define my own thoughts. I've done this before over the years and it's never failed.

This thread produced 7 different lyrics! Why aren't more people recording?

I blame AI... and laziness...

erse]
I got a buddy stuck to leather staring back at me
He's got a chipped white robe and a cracked left knee
Bouncing with the rhythm as I hit the gas
A holy little passenger who's built to last

[Verse 2]
The highway hums like a choir gone wild
Dusty winds blowing
Reckless a crazy ride
The devil trys to get to me
But he can't compete
A six inch high savior in Texas heat

[Chorus]
With my dashboard Jesus
Keep me in line
Through the red lights and the borderline
When the road gets rough and my faith loses it's bling
You're my plastic prophet through the thick and thin

[Verse 3]
Cigarette smoke curling
Halo in disguise
His eyes don't blink but they see through lies
Preacher on the radio preaching doom
But the way I see it's not happening soon
[Chorus]
With my dashboard Jesus
Keep me in line
Through the red lights and the borderline
When the road gets rough and my faith loses it's bling
You're my plastic prophet through the thick and thin
[Bridge]
He's got a few miracles
Without the parlor tricks
That steady gaze through the windshield's fix
A bobblehead blessing with a crooked smile

[Chorus]
With my dashboard Jesus
Keep me in line
Through the red lights and the borderline
When the road gets rough and my faith loses it's bling
With my Dashboard
With my dashboard Jesus

We’re all built from the same dust and dreams,
Different roads, but the same means.

When the 'title' "Open Project" had caused 800 Viewers to click on it (April 13), I commented that it was apparently what people were looking for. All they knew was the title, not what they would find, exactly, when they clicked on it. But "Open Project" intrigued them and 800 of them clicked. My post right next to it has not piqued the curiosity of close to as many Viewers (400).
May 6, 2025, and the number of Views is double that 800, 1600.

"My Friends Are Thick-n-Thin"

This should be an easy one.
A song about embracing fault and weakness wink

Bald Billy is always cussin'
But plays the drums like rabbits lovin'

My skinny bassman is always drunk
But wows the crowd and lays down the funk
