Hi Folks,
I want to start sharing tips and tricks and evaluations of various A.I. options. I use Suno, I used to also have a subscription to Udio, but I was so busy with Suno that I didn't have time for the frustrations on Udio. Here is a comment I made on another post I wanted to use to kick this discussion off. It is clear that recording studios are going to lose demo business, but in truth, it was often a money loser for studios anyway. The real losers are the guys using a laptop and skills to do demos, though people will want custom stuff, no one will be able to trust that it isn't A.I. That sucks for the little guys and gals, but progress always displaces workers. There are STILL LOTS of people unwilling to use A.I. themselves that would be happy to receive a great A.I. demo of their song or lyric. ============================================ Are you still using Udio? I had an account there but Suno just seemed miles ahead. I paid for 5 months without completing a single song, on Suno I have finished 127 different originals,98 of which are directly based on my recordings and 29 I have let it do something original with my lyrics and arrangement instructions. Meanwhile I have over 280 finished songs where I genre flipped or gender swapped the vocals of the 127. Udio (at least back then) just could not compete. Only allowing 30 seconds per section at first was a super useless restriction. I think they might have upped it to 2 minutes, but most of my songs are 3-4 minutes long so I just though, why bother? Suno easily lets me do stuff over 5 minutes. It also allows 2 minutes of uploads to train the A.I. on melody, expression on vocals, chord changes, instrumentation (though it is very hit or miss on that). But best of all, once I upload 2 minutes, it will complete the entire song as a "cover" of that original, keeping melody and vocal expression (like holding notes, changing pitch on a continuous note and unique phrasing) while dramatically changing genres or tempo or key or gender or adding new backing vocals on and on. It also allows you to go in a edit mistakes or lyric typos (hate when I miss them initially on a great result) or if it glitches here or there or can fix it. Hearing it mimic my late singer is the best. It learns his phrasing so well it gives me chills sometimes. Especially when I add or edit the original lyrics and it sounds just like him singing in HIS style. Then you can CAPTURE that style for use in other songs. It really is getting exciting!

Thanks, Brian for this information and the platform here to allow song writers like myself to help showcase our talents as well as learn how to be better. I've always struggled with becoming a musician in order to bring my lyrics to life. Keyboard, guitar, harmonica. It didn't matter the instrument. I just couldn't learn enough, fast enough. Suno is a game changer in that regard.
I have yet to upload any music samples to Suno. (see above note about instruments) I'm content for the moment letting Suno lend the music and vocals to my words. It helps me understand where I can change things in order to keep with the rhythm or flow of the style of music I'm thinking of. Thus far I am happy with most of the results.
I look forward to others posting their songs and hearing what Suno contributes to their music writing endeavors.
Peace,
Dave
