145 k a year for highly skilled er doctor dies not sound rich to me.

Comfortable yes, but look at the stress of the job, I know people who never went to college who make more.

Then try to save to open your own practice. Some just stay where they are.

You're missing the point...
What does a doctor's feelings or compensation have to do with his practice?
Medicine is just the statistical study of human physiology and chemical response.
Today, that information will fit on most phones...

All a doctor does is cross-check your symptoms and lab results with a list of most probable diagnoses, then shoot those results to his office staff to make certain your insurance will cover the treatment. If the insurance provider balks, then the doctor provides another diagnosis for you... so he can still get paid.

It's all a fuk'n racket!

At one time diagnostic tests didn't exist, you had to really know what you're doing. Today you don't, and AI is going to take over.

But yeah, among everything else it's a business.

So is preaching. The Graham family were worth 50 million, what's worse?

Lol... You buy in to a doctor's god complex, fine.
How many times have you said, "Yesterday's miracles are today's science??"

I sincerely hope modern medical practice answers your prayers, Dom.

If you can afford it...

Your talking about a totally different thing now. You've gone from saying medicine is a racket , and a money grab, to about having prayers answered.

Hal Lindsay certainly didn't answer any prayers, but he was wealthier than most Drs.

How do you not see the racket in that?

LOL
Steve

It depends on where your statistics come from Steve. Using Statista, Canada's not even in the first 26 countries. Besides these statistics are impossible to measure. Too many variables. Depends on what they're using to compile the data. As far as successful surgeries... example, the surgeons they're getting the success rate from are either poor surgeons (more bad outcomes), or great surgeons (more good outcomes). I did know one Canadian that had to wait for 6 months for cancer surgery. And he had to travel 400 miles. Also, Canadian taxes are 52% higher than the USA. Most of which goes to their health system. As far as the USA, my wife and I have had great experiences with good doctors and great surgeons.

John smile

What is the tax rate in the USA. I know they are the most expensive of the countries that I get royalties from. They charge me 30%, UK 20%, Australia 10%. 30% is federal tax, state tax would be extra.

What is the tax rate in the USA. I know they are the most expensive of the countries that I get royalties from. They charge me 30%, UK 20%, Australia 10%. 30% is federal tax, state tax would be extra.[/quote

Depends how much you earn. I believe lowest percentage is 10%. Part timers pay that.

But work over time and it goes up for that week.

Id say most Americans pay 20. It goes up for the more you make. Filthy rich can pay 35% 40% unless they find loops

But then there's state tax as well.

And social security.....

Expect to lose 25% of your earnings.

Hey Everett. I was just debunking the myth that Canada’s healthcare is free. I’m sure our tax rate is higher. About 20% of our taxes go to health insurance like Medicare, Obamacare and Medicaid.

John, when you use "one Canadian" example to prove your point....it doesn't resonate....I've used our system, as an adult, for 60 years, longest wait, ever, including last year...about 90 minutes...that's just as silly a point....and it seems you know little about Canadian geography....about 90% of our population lives within 100 miles of the USA ...in a country with 3 million+ square miles(2nd largest country on earth)...thousands of Canadians have to travel hundreds of miles for surgery. I live in rural Nova Scotia and I can walk to the hospital in 15 minutes...it depends on where you live...and yes, there may be a wait for it...but that is not the norm

I'm not sure that Canadians ever say our system is free....so I'm not sure what you are debunking....my comment was..."what's a doctor's bill? In Canada...I have never had to pay for doctor care or hospital care as is the case with most citizens...doctors are primarily paid by the gov....and we have excellent doctors in Canada

Of course we are going to pay more in taxes than in the US...why? That's because we pay for about 70% of our health care costs through taxation..
And yes we do have private insurance for such things as dental care..but that is also changing as we speak...
But we also have higher taxes for another big reason....Our population base does not support our land mass...it costs a lot of money to run a country 3,855,100 square miles in size with 40.1 million people...as s minimum we need about 500,000 immigrants, yearly, just to maintain what we have....take away 290+- million people from your land????

I don't know how many people are uninsured when seeing a doctor/going to a hospital in the US....in Canada 0% +-

Anyway, my original comment was said in jest to Ben but would Canadians want to move to a system like the US, even with all our warts, some, might, but I know "one Canadian" who won't "ME".....Our health care system is just fine thank you, and I get to live longer than the average American....hmmmm....I wonder why that is? Might it have something to do with the quality of health care provided in Canada vs the US.... LOLOL

Yes, that's an excellent point. If people are healthier then it's easier to doctor them.

We're the most obese country in the world, we consume a lot if fast food to keep up the hustle and bustie.

Also one of the richest countries, able to over eat.

But how do our doctors and hospital measure up as far as knowing what they're doing.
Pretty high

I’m exaggerating like always , yes send some sturgeon

I don’t eat at McDonald’s by the way

We get some snow in January , why the pellet stove today , propane prices are worst than the government.

Back in the '80's I lived 1 hour from Moose Jaw (Regina) so I know of what you speak....-35 celsius for days and days

Dirt floors they polished and digging out the snow from windows to get out
And you guessed it... walking miles to get to a one room school house, about 1939 or so.

My grandpa was chained in a box car , They thought he was crazy . He had a broken appendix
Hopping trains looking for work in the 30's or so. He died on that train
My dad told that story often , but once in awhile said he was kicked by a horse.

This kind of stuff actually scares me...
Government always thinks it should control everything for the public's own good.
So, does this mean that the whole world should envy Ethiopia?

Walmart thinking I guess. The richer the town , the more on nutrition and healthy lives.
San Rafael Calif , healthy people, Clear Lake Calif , Not healthy people. $$$$$$$$$. College Educated , drop outs. The Government should control people , stop eating fast food , it's garbage. Every freeway exit , garbage next exit .

Now the shooter was privileged and educated , go figure .

The show was never funny, occasionally with the not ready for primetime characters...

But I'm talking about the crowd. Even Yost was awkward with it.

Murder should not be applauded. Ok killing Saddam or Bin Ladin, understandable, but better to just say ok done.

This is sickening

Yes thats exactly why, only they are wrong thinking it disrupted anything.
Cowardly walking behind somebody and shooting them, figuring the guy might beat his ass down if he saw him.

Loser, an no wonder there is a school shooting every week

Yeah, but it's all tied together, our youth are some of the most mean spirited, , entitled, pieces of garbage there is.

I take that back I know some good kids who just wanna drink and get laid, which is preferable.

But look at YouTube, tik Tok, Facebook, the fuckin hating kids are all over it

I work the music , Nothing I can do about the bad world , unless I wanted to run for office.

I live in a small town , most that shite happens in cities, over crowded cess pools. FB is ego driven by kids , like forums. it's a psychological release to feel superior. Thats not the real person .
So you're going waste your time on that bad world ? If you feel so strongly about it , write and sing a song about it .

As opposed to wasting your time here? Lol

Your so enamored d with the non bad world, that you are here in every thread...

Apparently the non bad world is not enough for ya.

And for somebody to be a songwriter, and not care about the world .. I dint know. That's what songwriting is based on

its not that I don't care about the bad world , Nothing I can do about man , Write a song and sing it , about it.

When he thinks about Lennon
Being murdered by a Chapman
He wishes all the bad would stop happening

We’re all built from the same dust and dreams,
Different roads, but the same means.

The world, mainly yourself in it, is where songs come from .

A love song is not just a love song, it's a love sing in a certain time period, with social implications, even historical .....with current ways of expressing it.

Just a thought doesn't have to be that

Otherwise the connection may not be made

Lovers .. in a dangerous time. Bruce Cocburn
