Here's the thing with endless cliches in country music , A 23 year old is just starting off in life , its all new to them . How many songs do you write before one hits radio ? Common theme 1000. The first 400 suck . how many just good songs have been done in Nashville , No idea maybe 4 billion , Never saw radio . Will Nashville demo a shitty song ? sure not their problem .

I don't follow Gods drama or the worlds , I play guitar , do songs , promote , about it . I like documentary's ,Hemingway, Mary Twain , Buddhism . Pawn Stars for laughs . I've read God and the world , I find no interest in either of them . A new chord or riff interests me . I see no value in anxiety.

Kids don't listen to 71-year old artists , what I see is 40-years old on up , Once in awhile a few kids , But I don't disclose to much on a rocky past to kids . kids listen to rapid -fire Tic- Tok . I've never seen the age on who buys my cd's . I get a name and address . They don't communicate thru Social Media , they just buy the cd . From California to Vermont . it's interesting on snake-oil salesmen and tactics they use , like Chuck Norris , buy these vitamins you live longer , its all bullshit.

On one hand, Dom is right... He started this thread, and he has been a lot less "confrontational/antagonizing" lately.

The op was about rockers who diss their contemporaries later on their career for attention.
The initial topic did little traffic. Brian came in mentioned Tyson, which was fine, since then it's been all Ben, somehow twisting it back to his music.
It wasn't directed at aging people in general, aging rockers, if the topic evolved, not my fault.
But Ben has alot of time to post when he has all those fans in Facebook..

They have a billion vids on guitar , I steal a few licks , Make a mood song and vid . Keeps me busy besides country songs . Cover a few James Taylor songs . 3 week turnaround , something like that .

I was taught that as a kid lol. Yeah', there's many ways to play guitar. And if you're a "solo virtuoso" then go ahead and do it the hard way, no one will deny that it looks impressive. But... In a group situation, it's best to "let the whole band play"
Just because you CAN play bass and rhythm at the same time on one instrument doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Yes, and not play something difficult just for sake of playing something difficult. Should be a point to it.
If your audience can't sing or follow your playing, your pissing in the wind.
Only a select few jazz greats found large audiences because they understood that. otherwise your audience is all guitar players
I woulda never started playing guitar if the Who hadn't blown my mind.
Pete the topic of this thread, does not get the credit he deserves for his guitar playing. He's not put in same shelf as Clapton or Hendrix or any guitar hero.
But if you play guitar, have eyes and ears you will be convinced he IS a great guitdrist. Maybe not as a soloist but on acoustic I'm not sure who's better.
Not to mention being a great songwriter and underrated singer

Music is not a competition, if it were Taylor Swift woulda quit long time ago.
I went to Catholic school I was easily the best guitarist in my school, at least while I was there. I was recruited to be in s music theory class, the teacher insisted, I hated it but it was 2 credits.
I was recruited for school plays, masses, and music concerts.
I earned my first pay as a musician 75 bucks for doing school play. God rest her, that musical director thought I'd be a star, my voice should be on records said she,and I was a solid guitar player....
What I found out, was not only was I not the greatest guitar player in the world, I wasn't even the best on my street.
There were guys older than me who kicked my ass.
Today I shoot for a song that somebody can relate to, and enjoy....
Which is not easy either, despite the false praise we get here
