I know it is pretty much impossible to change minds, but A.I is taking the soul...your soul... right out of the songwriting process.
We either "create" our own music, or we choose the easy route and "select" the music of our liking.

Any of you people calling these A.I songs your songs are fooling yourselves.

This site is not what it use to be....and the others aren't even a shadow of what they once were.
The site I spend most of my time on is bouncing, but with real bad vibes. They hate Trump and conservatives and are working to cancel any opposing voices. The arguments come at me like a swarm of bees and are relentless. It's basically a shout down.

The political strife isn't the worse, by far. It's the love of A,I that is driving me mad. All the crap is sounding the same, and they all seem to love their new "creative outlets"........they don't care that it's not their own creation.... they call it theirs's anyways. Sad.

I've got other writing projects, other than music. Thank God.

That song of mine "Go On Ahead" was met with such vitriol when it became known that it was about a Muse member and his ridicules attitude. No one seemed to mind when the Left calls people out in their usual disgusting manner.... I, at least, put it to song, and without the outrageous language.
It's a one-way street, and I am truly sick of it!

My political songs bring into focus my perspectives, and the questions and answers that come after my posts have identified me as conservative. And with that being known, my writing is now of a 3rd grader with no imagination or "good" structure and grammar.
And now, A.I has the thumb print that everyone is looking for, and unless it bears that stamp, people are becoming uninterested.

I still think there are more of us than them...
The majority of people browsing these sites are "Just Plain Folks" looking for someplace to hang out, pick a little guitar, share inspirations, and perhaps collab.

However...
Every site has now been inundated with the same Leftist propaganda and cancel culture mentality.

And...
The bad actors on all these sites are always the least productive.

I sincerely believe that there's only a handful of people who have grouped together, and scour the WWW for any site they can disrupt and ultimately cancel. They are organized, politically motivated, and focused on anything media oriented. Their job is to stop any conservative ideology before it has a chance to spread.
They have waged war on free speech.
As evidenced by their easily recognizable militant methodology, MOB mentality, and same redundantly parroted complaints.

All they need is commitment, perceived solidarity, and persistence.

You have a very good understanding on the BS I have been facing on the boards. I have been very skeptical and suspicious with a number of those who act more like "gate-keepers" than they do songwriters.

The crap is the thickest in the middle of the swamp, and it has been soupy for the last 8-10 years on these "music" sites.
And now, A.I is going to bulldoze us into something that sounds all the fricken same. WOW!

And although their love-sick encounters and perspectives are honest, they are ignoring or accepting what is happening all around themselves.

Explain how supplying the verse, chorus and other melodies, as well as the complete lyric and instructions on production (instruments, styles, vocal type etc.) is losing your soul? A.I. is no different than a wealthy artist who hires a producer, session players and session singers to record their material (for any purpose). Plenty of artist in history hand off their written music to studio people to produce and record. Your input into an A.I. production is significantly greater than hiring pros to record your song. All the famous songwriters who are not artists on their hit song, have they also lost their soul?

This is a ridiculous argument. Try out A.I. and learn first hand how it works and what is already possible. Sure, hitting a button is just songs on demand, jukebox style. But creating and using it like just another tool in what is now overwhelmingly a virtual digital recording world no matter where you go (the effects have mostly long been virtual plug-ins for decades, not to mention synths and drum samples and guitar amp simulators). That isn't any more real than having A.I. skip the middle people. It uses the same programing the human to do create the sounds.

Where's the soul in a verse, chorus, lyrics and melody when it's created by A.I.?

So, an artist brings some PEOPLE in to work to collaborate with writing and producing a song... are you suggesting that's the same as someone not needing anyone to help write and produce a song?
It won't be long, when people won't even need to play an instrument, sing, learn how to write anything at all.

What Brian is saying is that you don't have to just press a button and accept what the AI gives you. The technology is progressing, advancing toward something much more interactive.

However, I still think you're right, Tom.
There's no discipline. There's nothing "organic". Kids will never question what the machines are actually doing, or how they're doing it. The lure of immediate gratification will stunt the imagination and desire to actually master an instrument...

Sure, there's always exceptions to the rule. But, those exceptions will become fewer and fewer since the machines can out-produce humans 1,000,000/1. What's the point of even trying to compete with that?

Well, my good man, if interactive means hearing and listening to the voices in our own heads, and then to interact with A.I to create it, that is one problem I can live with. But now, if interacting means that you suggest a "mood" and A.I. creates lyrics, melodies and all the instrumental accompaniments in which you can select from... that's the problem that disappoints the most.

And, I do have a problem with tasking A.I. to fulfill the instrumental accompaniments. It is a bit like cheating yourself of a great human experience. Weather you do some playing yourself, or you are playing music with others, that is an experience that is worth pursuing.

Look, I know my arguments are falling on deaf ears, especially with those who are trying to make a buck.
I watched and listened to this "professional" singer/songwriter, describe in his video, the painstaking effort it was to go through all the samples that his A.I. program gave him, to select that very special one that most captured the song in his heart.
Needless to say, I was disgusted. But who cares what I think.........he's making a living recording A.I. music that he is erroneously calling his own.

The industry heads, like Brian, are most likely making money, being on the ground floor of this venture. A.I. is too easy, and too much of a temptation for most to pass over. And as some of us know, there is a fortune to be made in the temptation business.

I'm always reminded of a lyric from Van Halen 1...
