I was just listening to some of my older projects when I found “Don’t Look ‘Back”, a song I haven’t heard in ages. Back in 2013 a guy sent me an instrumental playback. I wrote the lyrics to go with it, created a vocal melody and sang the demo. Shortly afterwards I found some talented people who took the song to the next level. The song is about a guy who dreams that he committed a hit and run felony. As it turns out in the end, it was just a dream/nightmare. Feedback is always appreciated. https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12166955DON'T LOOK BACK (Music & lyrics: Robert Baitinger / Fabian Goerg) Verse 1: You wake up and you open your eyes Where are you now, you’re completely surprised Your brain hurts while you think about last night You drove your car stoned A loud noise, bodies flying through the air You hit the brakes, man it was in complete despair The night was dark, they were dressed in black You pushed the pedal down and never looked back, no Chorus: You can run and you can hide But you can’t apologize You can’t change what you feel inside You sound like a bag of lies You can’t turn back the hands of time And you can’t get back on track What you say ain’t worth a dime So don’t – just don’t look back Verse 2: This is a bad case of hit and run Should you give up or get yourself a shotgun Got no friends that you can turn to No one can tell you, what you should do Do you wanna commit suicide? ‘Cause they're searching for you nationwide It’s not the way you had your life laid out You’re to blame without a shadow of a doubt Half-chorus Rap verse (male): And as the fog clears, I can see your pretty face You hold me tight girl, I feel your warm embrace And then you tell me that I had a bad dream You woke me up ‘cause I started to scream It felt so real, as if I was really there But it was just a great big bad nightmare Now every time I go to bed I still hear This voice inside my head filling me with fear Chorus

HI Rob,
Great production, song, and performances.
The lyric produces a melody that has a kind of "propulsion" to it and it matches the mood and narrative 100%.
Elisa's performance is wonderful. Love the thickened, maybe double tracked voice in the later choruses.
Mike

Hi Mike, I agree that the song production sounds pretty professional. Elisa is really talented. After the first 1.5 hour vocal recording session I had her stop by for another 1 hour session for additional vocals, harmonies and adlibs. I always enjoy being part of the production process and being able to bring my own ideas into the production. You learn so much when get the chance to work together with other talented people. These guys were awesome. Thanks for the feedback.
All the best - Robert

Hey Carroll, I'm glad you like this one. You and I weren't collaborating back then, lol. At first I thought the lines were too long but once I sang them on top of the music I noticed that they work quite well. Writing lyrics is not really what I enjoy doing. It took me almost 2 weeks to finish these lines. They had to flow well with the vocal melody that I came up with. I appreciate your feedback.
Take care - Robert

Yes, Markus plays guitar. He really knows how to produce music. He's what we call a semi-professional producer. The results sound very professional to me. I learned a lot working remotely with him.

Very much a pro production you have here Rob...IMO the bass moves the song along nicely and really gets in sync with the drums ...love the bits of ear candy in the spaces which are so important in song production
Nice!

Creators of music have a responsibility to their craft. When they have finished using all the notes and words, they must pass them down to the next generation with a simple request. “Use these to create new music.”...Steven McDonald
