The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI), also called Order of Perpetual Indulgence (OPI), is a charity, protest, and street performance organization that uses drag and religious imagery to satirize issues of sex, gender, and morality (particularly Christian perspectives on these topics) and fund raise for charity. Upon their move to San Francisco from Iowa City in 1979, a small group of gay men in San Francisco began wearing the attire of Catholic nuns in visible situations using camp to promote various social and political causes in the Castro District.

The Sisters have grown throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe, and South America, and are currently organized as an international network of orders, which are mostly registered as non-profit charity organizations that raise money for AIDS, LGBT-related causes, and mainstream community service organizations, while promoting safer sex and educating others about the harmful effects of drug use and other high risk behaviors. They have also protested many Christian, and specifically Catholic, events including the visit of Pope John Paul II to the United States.

Throughout the organization's history there have been a number of conflicts with Christian communities. The group has been characterized by some Catholics (including the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights) as anti-Catholic and a hate-group for impersonating and mocking Catholic practices and beliefs, including religious sisters.

More than anything else, these diatribes galvanize your adversaries. At this point they are counter-productive to your own aims. It's going to be the most insane election of our lifetimes. It will likely come down to a choice between two very dysfunctional personalities with court trials and congressional investigations as a back-drop. Smothered in lies and propaganda coming from all sides. Whatever your leanings, you are ill-advised to stir your adversaries to action at this point. Everyone's goal should be to focus on those strange people called swing-voters with arguments that are as reasonable as possible.

My suggestion: Believe what you will. State it calmly and confidently somewhere else. Leave all the hair-on-fire stuff at Reddit or some such.

Stephen Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, once said, “Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.”

Remove that glue, and things come apart. I was reminded of that when FBI Director Christopher Wray answered questions on Capitol Hill a few days ago. Traditionally, Republicans have been the party of law and order. But here they were, grilling the FBI Director, many of them seeming to believe very little of what the man had to say.

Despite some strong opinions of my own, my point is not to take a side in that fight. But I will say this. Trust is hard won, and easily lost. Trust is won through diligence and integrity. It is won when a person or an institution consistently tells the truth. But the glue of trust weakens with every lie. A bit of it dies with every dishonest deed.

Truth is the common ground that allows us to accomplish things together. If you go to the doctor and you tell him or her the truth, the two of you together can fight whatever problem you face. If you lie, then you’re on your own.

Waning trust not only destroys relationships between individuals, but it destroys the effectiveness of God-ordained human institutions. Even the worst dictators work hard to get their populations to trust them. Government doesn’t work without trust. And if we do not or cannot trust our courts or the judiciary, what do we have left? What are parents to do when they stop trusting their local school systems? What happens when even medical institutions begin to make decisions based on political considerations rather than the health of their patients?

Jesus called Satan the father of lies. That means by his very nature, Satan sows distrust. As a society follows the father of lies, it becomes less trustful and less trustworthy. People begin to feel increasingly paranoid — as if danger lies in wait around every corner. Anger comes quickly and easily. Fear reigns.

What is the solution? Start by trusting God. That doesn’t mean to trust everything you ever heard anyone say about God. But trust Him. Trust His love. Trust that His ways will always be best, even when you do not understand.

Consider these three scriptures. Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man, that He should lie.” Titus 1:2 says, “God… cannot lie.” Hebrews 6:18 says, “It is impossible for God to lie.”

When your society is falling apart or your personal life feels like it’s unraveling, trust God. Follow His instructions. Do what He says. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and He cares about you even more than you care about yourself.

As you trust God, something wonderful will happen inside you. You will become more like your Heavenly Father, the One who cannot lie. You will become more and more trustworthy. It might be the beginning of a healing that will touch the whole world. At the very least, it will change your life. It will defeat your paranoia, quell your anger, and ease your fear.

War! It’s one of those words that carries a built-in emotional wallop. It can raise feelings of patriotic pride and of dark dread at the same time. Other than terrorist attacks, America has been spared from fighting on its own soil for a long time. But if you look back at World War II, you see that even on the home front — a place of seeming peace — lives changed dramatically.

Car manufacturing plants were converted into plants for making the machines of war. New cars could wait. But to keep Ol’ Bessie running, you might want some new tires. Sorry. The war needed rubber, so tires became impossible to buy for most citizens. Food was rationed. Millions planted “victory gardens.” Lots of restaurants removed meat from their menus entirely.

Change and sacrifice are two of the main hallmarks of a winning war effort.

If you read the Bible, you already know that we are in the midst of a war right now — a spiritual war. If you watch or read the news — or if you get out of the house — you know that that war has risen to a fever pitch.

Like it or not, we live in a war zone. Bombs of deceit, violence, and rage explode all around us. This spiritual war is not hypothetical, and it is not a metaphor. It is a real war with real casualties and real collateral damage. But a spiritual war is not to be fought with guns, fists, or missiles. In John 18:36 [NKJV], Jesus said to Pilate, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight.”

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

The battlefields of this war are the hearts and minds of human beings everywhere, including our own. Battles rage around us and in us. We need to cast down those things within ourselves that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God. Make every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

Don’t be surprised when the war brings hardship. 2 Timothy 2:3 says, “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” War is not easy. 1 Peter 4:12-13 says, “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.”

In the midst of the battles, even with painful wounds and sacrifice, the joy of the Lord can be your strength. Stay close to Him. Enjoy sweet fellowship with Him. Sometimes that will include what Philippians 3:10 calls, “the fellowship of His sufferings.” No one wants to suffer, but suffering in fellowship with Him is sweeter than the grandest party with anyone else.

So far in this country, our sacrifices have mostly been financial — typically that has meant giving to the cause of Christ. Compared to the suffering of many Christians around the world, that’s small. And when we give well, it is highly effective for the cause of Christ and therefore of peace for the world.

Will the war become more severe? Until the rapture takes place, the general trend will be toward a world of increasing chaos and persecution. In John 16:33, Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation.” Then He added this glorious statement. “But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

In other words, He has already won the war, and that means we have, too. So, be of good cheer!

Amen brother. For those that read their bible they can see what is happening now in the world is what Jesus said would be happening as the end draws near. Even those that are not Christians seem to know something evil is happening out of the usual. As it was in the days of Noah and Sodam and Gomorrah. It is a spiritual battle that often spills over into the physical world.

On September 12, something without precedent will happen in Israel. That nation’s Supreme Court will decide if it (the Supreme Court) holds dictatorial powers unlike any other court in any other democracy — power not derived from any law ever passed. The court will decide whether to nullify a new basic law in Israel. That would be the equivalent of the US Supreme Court nullifying part of the constitution as “unconstitutional.”

Instead of a constitution, they have what are known as “basic laws.” On July 24, Israel’s highest legislative body, the Knesset, legally amended one of Israel’s basic laws. The amendment restricts the high court’s ability to nullify a law. So, if the court rules against it, it will be ruling against the rule of law.

In the United States, we have long accepted that our Supreme Court can nullify a law. But our high court has an objective standard by which to measure laws — the constitution. Since the constitution underpins everything in our government, all other laws and regulations must conform to it. If Congress passes a law that goes against the constitution, the court declares it unconstitutional, and it is automatically repealed.

Israel’s Supreme Court uses an entirely different standard for nullifying a law. They call it the “standard of reasonableness.” If members of the court do not think the law is “reasonable,” they can kill the law with a simple vote against it. Over the last few years, they have increasingly used this standard to remove laws with which they had a mere political disagreement.

“Reasonableness” is in the eye of the beholder. When the Knesset passes a law, a majority of the nation’s elected representatives obviously consider that law to be “reasonable.” The reasonableness standard itself was made up by the court and not based in law. It allows a small number of elites to override the will of the voters, sometimes on a whim.

I call them elites because that’s what they are. In Israel, the President appoints Supreme Court judges. This sounds like a lot of power until you understand that he does not choose them. He only appoints them. They are chosen by something called the Judicial Selection Committee. That is a ten-member group consisting of the Justice Minister, another cabinet minister, the court’s current Chief Justice, another judge from the Supreme Court, the Attorney General, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Hebrew University, two Knesset members, and two members of the Israel Bar Association.

As you can see, it is not designed for accountability to the people, but to keep the elites of the legal establishment in charge of all law. The system negates the power of elected representatives in favor of the old guard. So, on July 24, the elected representatives of the people of Israel passed a law that limits the court’s ability to strike down laws. It passed the law as an amendment to one of Israel’s basic laws, which makes it part of the highest law in the land. The basic law has now been changed in a legally binding way. But on September 12, the court will decide whether to break the new law by striking it down. Obviously, there is no legal way of doing that.

Imbued by propaganda from the old guard elites, thousands of Israelis have taken to the streets to protest the change. Many have become insurrectionists, advocating civil war. There have been talks of debilitating strikes even within the military. So far, the press has made it seem much worse than it is. But the elites seem intent on ripping apart the fabric of Israel’s democracy.

The Bible indicates that after Israel’s rebirth, it would be greatly troubled but remain intact. Even so, this is a good time to follow the admonition of Psalm 122:6. “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.”

The "Powers That Be" are becoming exponentially invested in establishing sustainable "Absolute Power"... effectively negating basic human freedoms and rights all in the name of some "necessary global evolution". If the majority is the only thing that stands in the way of power, then the powerful 1% claims the authority to reduce the 99% down to its lowest "governable" common denominator.

Of course, the 100% commonality for all is always money, death, and inheritance.

Gog, Magog, and Russia

In the late 1980s, with the Soviet Union on its last legs, critics accused me of getting prophecy regarding Russia wrong. One man wrote, “Where is this terrible menace from the North today? Well, it’s no secret the Soviet Union is undergoing the most significant internal change since the communists came to power 70 years ago…. ‘Rosh’ and ‘Tubal’ are turning out to be a toothless lion…. Even Gorbachev is said to be a baptized Christian.”

In the late 80s, Mikhail Gorbachev led the Soviet Union into an era “openness” (glasnost) and restructuring (perestroika). During his leadership, the USSR officially remained an atheist state, but he occasionally said things that made him sound favorably disposed toward Christianity. There was a rumor that he even told a Texas pastor he was “a baptized Christian.”

Not long after that, he emphatically reaffirmed his atheism to the press. Gorbachev died in 2022, and I hope he was a Christian. But the big question is not whether he was baptized. The question is, “Can we trust what the Bible says about Russia’s future?” The answer is, “Yes, we can.” Never judge the Bible by current events. But let the Bible give context to those events.

In the 1990s, Russia was relatively cooperative with the West. But during the years since Vladimir Putin’s rise to the leadership of Russia, the nation has become increasingly belligerent. A former KGB agent, Putin called the Soviet Union’s collapse, “the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century.” How could anyone see it as a “catastrophe” that the evils of communism — its heartbreak, poverty, atheism, and oppression — ended in their country?

Going all the way back to the communist revolution, Russia has held a strong and seemingly inexplicable animosity to the nation of Israel. Ezekiel 36 and 37 speak of the restoration of Jews to the Promised Land. Chapters 38 and 39 give the prophecy of Russia leading a confederation of nations in an all-out assault on Israel — an assault that God Himself will stop.

Ezekiel 38:2 describes the northern commander as “Gog of the land of Magog, the prince” (meaning ruler) “of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.” In Ezekiel 38:8, God addresses Gog. “In the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations.”

Critics say they don’t see Russia in these chapters. Russia didn’t exist as a nation until the 9th century AD. Instead of using the then-nonexistent word “Russia,” the prophet identified the great nation to Israel’s north by laying out its family tree. From that, it becomes obvious that it refers to the modern nation of Russia. I’ve gone into this elsewhere, so I won’t bother doing it here.

Others listed as part of the confederacy include Iran, certain African nations, and tribes that were then located in what we now call Turkey. Russia, Turkey, and Iran were sworn enemies for centuries — until the last few years. They have grown ever closer, forming key alliances in several areas. Today, Russia is also closely allied with China, though I don’t know how long that will last.

In 1995, another critic wrote, “Perhaps even the likes of Hal Lindsey have ceased predicting the final battle of Armageddon now that Russia’s evil empire has disintegrated.” The writer was confusing Ezekiel 38 with Armageddon. But I didn’t stop talking about either one. The reason is obvious. I’m aware of current events, but I don’t go by them. Instead, I go by the Bible. I teach about Armageddon because the Bible teaches about Armageddon.

The writer in 1995 said, “Russia’s evil empire has disintegrated.” Russia did not disintegrate. But the Bible says it is headed toward a disaster. God will take care of Russians who trust Him, but that nation’s leadership opposes the God of the Bible. And it is the Bible that we must go by.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged Gaza residents to flee as IDF seeks to revenge “this black day” in which Hamas killed over 200 Israelis.

“I say to the residents of Gaza: get out of there now, because we will act everywhere and with all the strength,” Netanyahu said in a video address to Israeli citizens.

Hamas began “a cruel and evil war” but “we will win this war.”

The price of that victory, he said, “is too heavy to bear. This is a very difficult day for all of us.”

“What happened today is not seen in Israel - and I will make sure that it does not happen again. The entire government stands behind this decision,” Netanyahu said.

Revenge will be taken against Hamas
He warned Hamas that the IDF’s retaliatory campaign would “cripple them to the point of destruction and we will take revenge with might for this black day they have brought upon the State of Israel and its citizens.”

“All the places where Hamas is organized, of this city of evil, all the places where Hamas hides, operates from - we will turn them into cities of ruins,” Netanyahu said.

He offered his condolences to the bereaved families and said he prayed for the recovery of the wounded and for the safety of the hostages.

Netanyahu warned Hamas that it was “responsible” the safety of the hostages.

"Israel will come to account with anyone who harms one hair of their head,” he added.

Netanyahu cautioned Israelis, “this war will take time. She will be hard. Challenging days are still ahead. But I can guarantee one thing: with the help of God, with the help of the joint forces of all of us, with the help of our faith in the eternity of Israel - we will win."

The biggest issue I have is that I see Muslims doing good things daily, and how Islamic civilization has enriched our world.

I see Muslims as ordinary people here in Toronto, with most of them having come for better futures for their kids and they'll sacrifice their generation as parents to make that future as good as it can be. They want simple ordinary lives free to worship and live as they choose and have built churches and community centres and schools and businesses here.

Toronto is a pretty diverse city. Where the rubber hits the ground all faith groups are doing good things here and working together on bigger pictures

I think the ignorant one is you. If you watch what is going on in the world you would know that Christians are being murdered daily by Muslims, just because they won't renounce their belief in Jesus. I'm not saying all Muslims are evil, but you have a radical percentage that are, as we just saw in Israel. Read the bible, you will see in the last days that God will separate the goats and the sheep, the tares and the wheat, the good and the evil. I'm reading a book by William Federer about the history of Islam, you should read it. Like I said not all Muslims are bad, just as not all Christians are good. I would say many Muslims would condemn what Hamas did to the Jews on Oct. 7 while shouting Allah Akbar, just as people are condemning the Jews for what they are doing to avenge what they did to them. It is a spiritual battle spilling over into this world, the Jews are God chosen people and the land of Israel was given to Abraham and his descendance (the Jews) but the other surrounding countries have been trying to drive them out ever since 1948 when they moved back. I don't know if you are Christian or not or if you ever read the bible, but it is a history of the Jews and what will happen to them and it is coming to a head now. Whether this evolves into the final battle of Armageddon or not remains to be seen, but it could, then God will intervein and destroy 5/6 of the armies attacking Israel.

Everette if somebody showed up today claiming to be God, we'd have him institutionalized. We have him examined for drugs. And we d likely know pretty quickly he was not the real deal. They didn't have this rationaliy back then. Life sucked, Jesus provided hope.

Hey I understand the hostility towards Muslims, but the Muslims Involved in hatred are only a percentage. I see Muslim women walking around all the time, In NJ. They seem timid and afraid, they don't seem aggressive at all. They love their children as everybody else does.
