https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14580936I wrote the lyrics in 1986 after hearing about Len Bias overdosing. He was drafted by the Celtics and overdosed 2 days later, changed NBA history and put the Lakers back on top. I had done a one-off recording 15 years ago that totally stunk so it got shelved. JPOV did a great job and changed the lyric for the better. He did all the heavy lifting. Thereâs a train rolling All through the night Gear up with the conductor And catch a ride Hit the midnight special The midnight express Where you can get anything At your request Take a ride on the Midnight express Leave reality behind And RIPp with the best Fly high all night long And this is what you get Tombstones for pillows Graveyards for beds Standing on the corner For nickels and dimes But you can catch a thrill On the main line Itâs a one way ticket Destination anywhere But once you get on You wonât care Take a ride on the Midnight express Leave reality behind And RIPp with the best Fly high all night long And this is what you get Tombstones for pillows Graveyards for beds If you get on Donât be surprised If youâre the only one That gets off alive Take a ride on the Midnight express Leave reality behind And RIPp with the best Fly high all night long And this is what you get Tombstones for pillows Graveyards for beds

Lol... James and I have been bouncing back and forth with this for a couple days now... It's still quite rough... I actually started to "re-do" his acoustic version... But, when he heard the drums, he was like "Cool! Now do your Tony thing and totally rock it!" His version really isn't that bad lol... I think he should post it for comparison.

You're too kind Tony, I don't think I'll post the original, it stinks. After listening several times I'm really liking how you use RIP as a word and how you changed the last verse and the emphasis you put on it. At work so I'll check in later. My BIAB just got delivered can't wait to get it going. Now I need a mic, thinking about a shure58, the one I have is probably 30 years old, it's an old radio shack mic that is held together with duct tape. Edit: Forgot...this is exactly what I thought the song should sound like in my mind.

Full Mix https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14581188Here's a serious question ya'll... James is afraid he may actually make some money with this if he puts it up on Audiosparks. So, for contractual purposes, and to keep everything cool between us (bless his heart), he wants me to join a "PRO". My question is, if I'm my own producer..., then why would that be necessary? "Tony's Garage" is my studio

"Tony's Garage" is my studio Loving the lead guitar you added, AS far as the "pro" I'm certainly not in that category just an ammy. Of all the places I've uploaded songs on the net only 2 wanted the songs to be registered, CD Baby and now Audiosparx. The only reason I'm registered at all is because they required it, but I think we have it worked out. I want to thank you for taking the time and putting all the effort in. Still these things are just needles in a haystack when it comes to music libraries. chesterb

Hi Guys I've got to say the vocals are my fav part and I can hear it with more of a "Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds" production.
The pre-chorus chords need some work as the vocal is doing something really cool but the guitar is staying pretty static. It needs to add more tension before the chorus.
All my little nits overall the song is a cool work tape. Nice one guys.
Work for hire Producer. I will also produce and master any old/new work tapes up to demo standards. :-) Just PM or email: Email -- mork1976@gmail.com

Rock on guys--great vibe match Tony has provided! Nice work here and there's a lot of different ways/things you could do with this production. I do like the raw rock sound you have here. I "might" consider eliminating the interlude between the verses since there are enough breaks with PC & C, or at least shorten them as I think the lyrics flow so well that they don't need the breaks at those junctures--JMHO however.
Great lines/Great edgy production to fit like a glove.
