Life is incredible.
Last year I played the most gigs I ever have in a year from May-December 2021 hitting my 100th on NYE. It was a big goal, but small accomplishment. I always feel like I can do more, do better and raise the bar. I was grateful, but not satisfied. My standard needed to be raised.
I had no plan, intention or goal of attempting to surpass that or even challenge 100 performances.
I just had one goal: To be better than I was the year before, elevate and move forward.
What’s wild is it’s true that we reap what we sow.
Last year’s work is today’s fruit. Today’s hustle grows tomorrow’s harvest.
This Wednesday, August 31st my performance at the Spinning Plates Gallery will be my 100th gig so far in 2021.
I still have 40+ to go and I haven’t even started booking fall and holiday season yet. Whew.
As exciting as that is, I stay humbled and grounded because I couldn’t have done this without the establishments who booked me solo, duo or as full band.
I definitely couldn’t have done it without my bandmates in NASH.V.ILL
Jacquea Mae Julz Powell and Justin Brown (especially Jacquea who has been in the trenches with me since Jan.1)
And of course I couldn’t have done it without the amazing support from the fans and Pitttsburgh!!!
Then for the icing on the cake, I was nominated in Pittsburgh City Paper’s “Best Of” for the Best rocker/band category. That’s pretty neat, but if I’m nominated then so is my band NASH.V.ILL because we are a team. I didn’t do this alone.
The voting ends soon, so if you like what I do, the duo, or the band, or just like the kind, talented people involved because they are awesome, go to the link on CP’s website and vote for us.
I‘ll consider it a digital present for my birthday!!!
Love Byron
