Mackie sent me a lyric last week that I thought was worth having some fun with! This is really cool. Freakin great solo, very zz topish.
Could still probably use a hook, I think the Marvelene is in the wrong spot, You need to be going into the Marvalene as a chorus. I know the lyrics came first. and you went with that structure. But it works, and a fun jam. Enjoyed.

Fdemetrio--
Mabelene, Chuck Berry back in the 50's came to mind on this one--I told JAPOV I listen to a lot of Rockabilly--The song starts with the chorus!
Thanks for checking JAPOV'S work!

I know you can start with the chorus, but Maybelinne repeats, maybelline, why cant you be true, maybelline why cant you be true, and then a rhyming out line, it's more hooky.
Only once without the sound of MAYBEBelinne.
I just thought it could use something else. I like the little bluesy riff.
Its really cool, just giving some ideas to top it off.

Steady-eddie
It was a pleasant surprise to have JAPOV nail his ROCKIN" groove to the wall on this one--A REAL PRODUCTION! I'm still writing a few songs, but nothing like in the years gone by!
I guess the COVID has something to do with that!
Thanks

STEVE
I have re-written the lyrics a lot of times--It was a topic to re-visit later on, if Rockabilly ever came around again--I printed the lyric in ALABAMA RED for JAPOV in a message,, he was a quick draw like in an old western--I gave him free reign. IF HE WANTED TO PLAY AROUND WITH THE LYRIC! WELL HE DID11111
When I started the song long ago, it was triggered by a buddy of mine: a guitar playing bopping character that won the high school talent contest with Chuck Berry's Mabelene--I was picking a little 3 chord stuff back then--I told myself: one day I'll write something like that--All these years the simple changing story has been in my working folder
I listen to a lot of Rockabilly--some dumb, some silly, and some that has substance. IN THIS LYRIC AS THE SONG EVOLVED, I INCLUDED THE DEVIL MAN,
I'm sure most songwriters keep a favorite on the back burner to re-work from time to time. I still have 10 or 12 in my working folder!
YAPOV PUT HIS MAGIC TOUCH TO MY LYRIC, MARVALENE , AND FOR HIS WORK, I AM GREATFUL LIKE CLINT EASTWOOD MAYBE WOULD SAY "HE MADE MY DAY"

I am listening to enjoying the heck out of "Marvelene." Love that pulsating beat and your unique tone. Marvelene is a marvelous creation of foot tapping, boot scooting fun. Mackie always did have a knack for story telling and you two have brought it to life with this one. Well done. Write on...right on..righteously.

Hi JAPOV,
I love the riff, the guitar sound and you guitar work! I could listen to it all day. The riff is still ringing in my head as I write this. Your voice perfectly fits the song.
Thanks for sharing it. I always learn something from your work.

MFB and Dan--
I'm just trying to age gracefully with visits to the olden days of ROCKABILLY---I listen every morning to BLUES and REAL RAW ROCKABILLY on Youtube: pumped into my old Sony Stereo!
Thanks for checking the great production by Tony!
