Bat,

We don't delete accounts. You can simply stop using it and that will be that. If you hadn't posted this, you would never have shown up.

Yeah right Tony...LOL

You're just "being nice" and extending a courtesy.
It's not like you're trying to gin up a car wreck to gawk at.

Fd, at least puts it out there for what it is. LOL

And...I thought that it would seem imprudent not to respond to your post in this manner. LOL

Odd. Cryptic.

But if someone you dont know well comes to you and says that they want to leave, out of the blue and with no explanation...?
What is the best course of action?

Answer:
Setting aside considerations for some vested interest...move out of their way.

Basis for it could be a personal desire to clear up their internet footprint, could be a discomfort for some of the ancient-aliens-and-their-mind-control-machines assertions that go on here. Could be political expressions here. Could be a lot of things. . The fact that it is so cryptic indicates that this person doesnt want you to know or wants you to beg them why. Both of those outcomes are better left alone.

However..."I just thought it would seem imprudent not to ask"... is pretty goofy Tony. Sounds like a line out of The Queen script. lol

A better response...
WTF is up with that dude?

Better than that.....

If I were a betting man....

Id say Bat is somebody who already lurks amongst us. Somebody who already reads the forum every day, and decided to reveal themselves.

I mean why in GODS name would you bother saying delete me, when nobody knows you are there anyway? LOLLLLLL

Gotta get up pretty early...but please continue with the entertainment. This was the best thread I read in a long time.

UNLESS... a big UNLESS

somebody has been reading all the political posts, and doesnt want to be associated with the forum because they disagree with the content. And by publicly asking for removal, they feel they are making a point.

Still odd in every way, bizare, kooky, dysfucntional, all the things I love....

ok didnt see your complete assertion.

But that would be my guess too. The political diatribes, and he feels they are encouraged here, nobody seems to mind when they are points they agree with.

Would you still agree the thread belongs in bizarro land?

I'd call it odd and cryptic.
One thing that the internet has shown us. If someone is "in a mood" and they are online...we have a direct link to that no matter where they or we physically are. That is one of the most extraordinary things about being alive at this time.

Oh lol... OK, I see where this is headed now...

I obviously, and naturally by the grace of God, swing far to the right and have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. So, as long as this current administration keeps providing all the inspiration I need and making things so easy for me, for the sake of my own integrity and peace of mind, rest assured I will continue on. Besides, why would I quit when I'm always proven right?

Bat... If it does so happen to be that you're just trying to make some silly point because of "ME", I would highly recommend a different strategy. Or, just get over it! smile

I dont think Bats SUDDEN 360 from his ghosting presence had anything to do with Japov...per se.

I think what it was, is this guy reads ALL the content here, and has been for a LONG time...if he or she is not already here among us with a different alias.

But, Marty seems to think its about covering foot prints. I dont think its that either. I think it was just somebody trying to show admin, that some people dont like the opinions herein, and a safe way to do it was to complain under a name he nor anyone else cares about.

It would not surprise me if its a regular. It just doesn't make sense, why since 2015, he or she has not said one word, but suddenly MUST GO!

When i see the political pontifs here, I honestly dont understand how they could think so differently than I. But that is the same thing in my family or circles. All this stuff comes down to WHO YOU ASK. And you aint gonna change anybodys mind.

But for it to bother he or she enough to ask to be deleted, they must be heavily involved here, either by another alias, or else, they just read the content here.

Either way, it was funny for me.

Woah! I didn't catch that... Since 2015? Really? That is kinda' funny lol.

I've only ever had one other alias on one other site, PIGSWAPWHAFTCA!
PIG was cool, he would do or say anything lol! But the complete transparency of the alias was the whole point...

I threw out internet footprint as one possible motive. Another could be political leanings.
I wasnt going to say this...BUT HERE IT IS...another could be resentment at a perceived lack of recognition by the JPF song contest people or someone(s) at JPF. Not long ago some guy named Kurt who had been a mainstay here left in a huff and out of the blue...SEEMINGLY...because he felt slighted in some way regards his music.

Yet...my leading THEORY>GUESS>SPECULATIONISM is a stridently adverse political opinion vis-a-vis some of the ones expressed here. Political discourse is deadly poison to a song site or any site that has a non-political primary purpose, but if it's going to be allowed...I'm gonna have some fun with it.

Ultimately, I second Tony...."Just get over it"....(or find a place that makes you happy-er)

I remember Kurt, I didnt realize he had left for any particular reason, now that you mention it hes been gone a LONG time.

Kurt was one of those Nashville guys I mentioned in another thread. This site and others had many Nashville enthusiasts.

Everybody has to feel their music is slighted, because the focus of the site is not music, it used to be making connections with music. Probably the first social network music site before they were invented.

But, once you get one response on a song, you've got them all.

I think you may be talking about Kurt Fortmeyer, who was here for a while and does live in Nashville. Kurt has always done his own thing when it comes to writing, which is very good, and he tends to come around and leave for his own reasons. I believe he was going through some health issues a while back so that and Covid may have affected him. We used to cross paths quite a bit here in town and are what I would consider, pretty good friends. But I think he had some health issues a while back and Covid might have forced him more inside and withdrawn a bit. I just dont know. Will keep my eye out for him around town.

That's him. He left in a bit of a dust-up over something. It seemed music related...to me. But I do not truly know. And if my perception is a complete misrepresentation of his reasons for leaving...my apologies to him and anyone else offended.

Post the link Joe. I dont remember being in it, but do not doubt that I was.

Never mind. It was the last one. I forgot the details, but as usual I gave very sound advice.

Notice the use of my patented . to clear the thread.

Hey Kurt was the real deal, he felt he deserved more respect than the typical net browser.

But im sure we mixed it up a few times. But, I did end up buying some of his music, I felt he was doing it the right way

Hmmmm... I wish I could check to be certain, but I believe I knew Kurt from SW101. Seems odd that, at that time..., he was receiving such high accolades for that type of song here while, at SW101, I was being damned to hell for it... as usual...

Yeah', really brings back memories...

I respected Kurt for getting out there and doing it, and really working on the craft of it. And he was always working the writers nights. ANd I think he had the old school folks in his corner, the ones who used to write for other artists, or try to.

Sometimes he'd get annoyed at critiques, nothing new there.

As far as insonsistencies in critiques, dont even get me started. Ive read people attack my stuff, and give praise out for much weaker, and stupid stuff, simply cause they were friends.

WHen I was posted alot, (im working on better recordings) but when I was I had alot of people wanting to collab. Im like chit you aint gonna come in my pm box and ask for a collab, when you dont say a word in my threads.

Lyricists tend to downplay your lyrics, that way you may "see the error of your ways" and get them to write lyrics. Im like dude, your lyrics suck, much worse than mine do lmaaooo

In fact recently one such culprit told me how great the track was, melody, vocals. but that the lyric was weak...ok, sometimes lyrics are weak, but when I recently read something of his, just a lyric, it was so lame and trite I had to bite my tongue...

But yeah, consistency in critiques has been and is a problem, people critique the person, and not the song

FD, could it be that whatever inspired you to write a song simply doesn't emotionally effect others the same way? Do you honestly believe that your favorite Bruce song effects everyone the same as you? Do you even believe that everyone possesses the same capacity to discern specific emotion and meaning from a lyric?

We all write what we know from our own perspective... Just goes to show that, even if you are the sort that just wants everyone to be happy, we will never always agree. The real question is, why is that a bad thing...?

Yes, but you are assuming the lyric has emotion in it, lol and, if you are going to critique somebody else as being bad, dont suck yourself.

Subjective input is all worthwhile, but this lyric was about as bad as it gets, i had to go to my thread and ask...was this the guy who said my lyric was weak...it was.

Ill give you an example, the thread is probably still here somewhere from moons ago.

But the other site, the admin there and I had butt heads every day. I still email with some of them folks, and some of them know me.

But I came here, posted a song it had the word "baby" in it. "Oh it sounds like a good track, but too many cliches....One that I counted, baby. And so he followed suit by making seem like I had to redo everything, and change lyrics, just to appease him.

Sometime shortly after, I was reading another critique of his, telling the person who great it was "and as usual, your lyrics are great" Well, they used the word BABY, several times, and the lyric was not well thought out, had no hook,. Well, I wasnt as mature I am now ahemm, so I went into that thread and let em have it. I was getting emails from folks on both sites cracking up, and they were posting the ramblings on the other site... I lost it for sure...

it has nothing to do with being moved by one artist and not the other. The critique was specfic, called out for having a cliche baby in it, when this one had baby four times as well as I love you, and that kind of stuff.

it HAPPENS. What i mean by critiquing the person, is if baby is a cliche, its a cliche for everybody, not just me.

That rings a bell in my head. Its as if I have been playing the guitar since I was a kid, just so I would be ready to deliver the lyrics of person X to the world because they are so undeniably grand. (never are)
And I think to myself...I got my own lyrics and enjoy writing them. So, what is in this relationship for me other than to have been a footnote in the climb to fame of lyricist X?

Some of these folks seem to believe that being that footnote is such a wonderful thing that I will be compelled to take it. And they have gotten a little prickly when I passed.

I've been in bands where the same thing happened...usually the lead singer. At this point in my life, being at home with a guitar and a DAW is more rewarding than any of that type of thing. Hours of enjoyment and nobody there to ruin it.

Well, it be one thing if the "other" lyric was so overwhelmingly "better" better being subjective, but if the person really knew how to write lyrics, and had great titles and hooks, and some great lines, id say, ok, this guy is good, I can at least see where he stands.

But most of the time, the lyric only people are not any better than me, but in fact,? much worse.

And I agree, who writes you better than you? But working on the craft always pays off.

I hear that! Here's an idea, let's just start posting CRAP to keep the critics happy! smile

There's always emotional investment in your own lyrics FD, that's why we're all so compelled to stick to our guns lol...

no doubt, but i think lyric only people are still playing the old model game. That there is actually a market for lyrics, when in fact there is none. But they are still clinging to the idea of writing lyrics for a song, that might get cut or be a hit.

Others just wanna be in the game,, yet others cant do anything else but write lyrics, and the only way to see their lyrics get some use, is to have somebody record it.

Ive seen two types of cowrites. One where the music was worse than the lyric, others where the music was way better than the lyric. I havent seen many that are on equal footing.

I love lyrics, all my favorites are not just good, but the best lyricists. I work on them, But nobody cares about lyrics unless they are invested in you.....

Springsteens lyrics are important to his fans, If I posted one of his lyrics and said it was mine, nobody would care.

Its all perspective, and the world as seen through the eyes of that artist.

Lyrics from Joe Schmoe on Forum A, dont mean anyting to anybody. Not unless that person gets well known, then they will be archiving stuff they posted here.

Lyrics are more than words, they are experiences, and the world as you see it, or as you dont understand it.

Its hard to write a lyric just to write a song, you generally need something to say

It took 6 years for that? I am not sure what the issue is. The only way anyone would have known they existed, including me, would be to post this. I will help them by simply freezing the account so no one can access it. But we don't delete stuff. We move it off line now and then, but even that is rare.
