John LS and I were talking and we propose we abandon that coronovirus thread because it focuses too much on BS and bad sh&(t
So we are asking for people to only post positive stories, thoughts, ideas etc here that come from this situation we find ourselves in.
First off, some news. Scientists in Canada made breakthroughs in an effort to develop a vaccine. They have isolated and grown copies of the coronavirus, which helps scientists study the pathogen to develop better testing, treatments, vaccines, and gain a better understanding of its biology. This adds to scientists' work around the world. Rest assured the best minds in the world are working on it
Second, all around the world, people are meeting "apart" to sing and stay in touch from balconies, porches, windows...

Many cities are organizing "distance parades" to honour front line health care workers.
Here in Toronto police cars, fire trucks, ambulances etc slowly made their way down University Ave last week (there is a congregation of hospitals there) to honour all those health care workers there. It uplifted all their spirits to get that thank you
Maybe send such a person you know a thank you

Morning, Two Johns:
As usual, you are role-models for all of us. Extreme boredom seems to be the culprit. All us Lab Rats and Wharf Rats are gathered in our cages spouting vitriol... and it really is most unbecoming of us. I vow to try to do a little better. Eventually, we will emerge from this "stuff" one way or the other. (Still standing... or encapsulated!)
Out here in the "hinterlands" there is little evidence of the pandemic. I do not know a single person who knows a single person who has "it." I pray it stays that way. I'm tired of not being able to hug those I hold dear... and really look forward to the day I can wash and put away this mask.
Be well, be safe, be happy and keep writing/creating. ----Dave

Good idea John, but I fear this will turn into a panic Corona thread too. A positive note... I composed a bouncy feel-good piano track today. Nothing like a little bounce to pick-up the spirits. Best, John

Pandemics that cause the world to close down and widespread death are not happy things.
However, make of it what you will. There has only been one C19 death in my city of 2.36 million people in the last 6 days. Monday, I am under County orders to wear a mask if I leave the house and I'm okay with that. There is my contribution.

There, I feel better already.
With the help of my trusty deleting backspace key, I think I can keep my posts here positive. Its a good idea. Thank you John and John.

Captain Tom wanted to raise a grand for the front line against C19 on his 100th birthday, he planned to walk 100 laps of his garden, Pushing his wheelie zimmer with his medals on his chest he completed his mission, and wow people dipped into their wallets and purses Donating 30 million to the doctors and nurses The song You'll Never Walk Alone was recorded and went number one, with CaptainTom adding some vocals,
Captain T is only one of the many doing things to support the front line workers of this situation To those who heed the call I applaud them all
all the best,john

Living the "All in it together" lifestyle is likely trying patience. Here's a small guideline How-To.
If you sleep on it, make it up. If you wear it, hang it up. If you drop it, pick it up. If you eat out of it, put it in the sink. If you step on it, wipe it off. If you open it, close it. If you empty it, fill it back up. If it rings, answer it. If it howls, feed it. If it cries, love it.
And my friend suggests singing it instead of screaming it like SOME PEOPLE, and throwing in "Dammit!" ever so often! LOL
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

A year ago if you wore a mask in public you might get arrested, now if you don't wear a mask in public you might get arrested. How time change.

Earlier this month, artist Tom Croft launched #PortraitsforNHSHeroes to paint a free oil portrait of an NHS workers to the first who messaged him via Instagram. He has since enlisted 500 other artists for the initiative to pair them with a healthcare worker working on the frontline to paint or sketch for free. When the pandemic is over, he hopes to hold an exhibition of the powerful portraits.

Tom Moore, a 99-year-old World War Two veteran, completed 100 laps of his garden in Bedfordshire with his walking frame smashing his £1,000 target, by raising £18 million for the NHS. Spurred on by how much he's raised, Captain Moore - who turns 100 at the end of this month - continued with his laps after his first 100 to raise even more money for the NHS, who have previously treated him through cancer and a hip replacement.

Around the world there are reports of clearer skies and waters due to lack of human activity, and wildlife is roaming into the now quieter urban areas. There are even reports of less crustal vibration due to less movement of humanity & their tech.

Thanks for sharing, Captain Fiji:
I remember that war but thankfully, was too young to serve. Compared to the rest of the world, we had it pretty easy here in the US during WWII... but rationing was tough at times.
Hats off to Captain Tom Moore. A great example for all of us.

That stones song was good, but you know how it was done? Mick played and sang alone, the rest of the guys played on top of the other. Ronnie wood played and did some nice stuff, Keith didn't look like he was even playing, and Charlie was air drumming. Cymbals were in there but he wasnt hitting them
With all their dough id say they could have played live seperstely, but it is what it is.

It was not the song...you did not even address that in your post...all you did was complain about how it was done and that with all their dough they could have done a better job
So only positive posts here please ..or start another one

I saw a tiny dog chasing a park duck from one side of a newly made soccer field to another, lightning fast dog. The positive? The duck stood there until the dog got close and flew away. More positive news? The dog ran back to his owner and got a treat!!!!

My beloved had been on my case for years to watch The Sopranos and due to running out of odd jobs I bunkered down in the bedroom and binged on it, it was great, the scene in the snow in the woods had me in stitches, but what really kicked ass was getting back into Miami Steve,I love his early guitar work with the e street band,so started fishing around on you tube and found some songs where he plays/sings with Southside Johnny, I saw Southside Johnny and the Asbury Dukes way back in Edinburgh.those memories were all rekindled, yep silver linings, all the best.john

A lot of artists have covered better thinngs. Hard to find a more uplifting song, it still picks me up since I first heard it in early 80's, I was just learning guitar I guess 13 or 14 New Jerseys own Fountains of Wayne did a spry version too. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-n0Fc_Ik7iw

One small thing I might never have discovered without the pandemic is Applebees Mango Margarita. I can't speak for any other Applebees, but the one near me made the best margarita by far that I have ever had. it was obvious they were hurting for business. they tried to up sell deserts, sodas, appetizers, toppings, and a special on mango margaritas. i didn't even know restaurants can sell alcohol to go.

Remember this name Dr Tom Cahill Best news I have seen ...leads a group of scientists and billionaires who are screening scientific papers and backing the best approaches Goal is a vaccine in 6 months....and stipulation is no one makes money off it. The latter does not excite me as much as the gathering of minds and money Seems they are behind some of the recommendations being adopted now... https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-se...ing-trump-on-a-covid-19-plan-11587998993

The whole short time period shows us how fast they can find treatments and cures for disease, IF they want to.
I think they found effective treatments for H.I.V. Faster than anyone thought. Magic Johnson getting it accelerated the research.
With enough will, money and dedication we could probably cure anything fast.

Australian grocery store refused the return of profiteers' $10,000 worth of toilet paper and sanitizer. Seems the profiteer was not allowed to sell it anywhere..no one would let him..So he tried to return it
But he was "flipped off" by the store manager

John, thank you for that vote of confidence.
